POWER RAINING AND REIGNING



An explosion goes off right in front of you. You cover your ears against the ringing, but you've got to keep moving, there's fire, acid, water, and some type of sludge being shot at you all at once. You've already lost some of your friends, and you know of so many others who have died in this effort before you joined. You're being hunted by royal guards, trained, methodical, it's all you can do to just flee! You dodge to the side of a tree before it bursts into flame. These royal guards hunt you, though you're innocent of everything... Probably. But you can't let this go on. You have to help. If you survive this, you can help get the rightful ruler back on the throne. The lives of the entire kingdom are in your hands. What will you do? What CAN you do?

Power Raining and Reigning (PRaR) is a Role Play that takes place in a half-modern kingdom, (Cellphones and TVs but no cars and no modern concept of weaponry (Beyond swords etc)) called the Controrta (Or if you want to be demeaning, Lodgepole) Kingdom. With humans who have super-powers, called abilities.

-Ability and Ability Mark Explanations-
90% of the population has two abilities, a primary ability, that doesn't cause the user to suffer unless they really push themselves, and is often the stronger of the two. And a secondary ability, that often has a strong side effect. Like someone who can make portals, but gets dizzy and nauseous (how dizzy and nauseous depending on certain variables) only a very small percentage of people only has one ability. And it's almost always because their one ability, is very very strong.

An ability mark is a mark on a character's physical person, mostly small, for an example a person's mark can look like a neon green barcode wrapping around a person's wrist, or a stripe over their eye, or a swirl, or a blotch, or so on. They're often brightly coloured, and almost always match the colour the character's eyes glow when using their primary. The ability mark will also glow when the character is using either ability. Everyone has one.

-Rules-
-Follow all Chicken Smoothie rules at all times.
-No power playing without permission (even if character's ability causes the other's character to loose control, be controlled, etc)
-No killing, maiming, scarring another's character without permission from that character's RPer
-Things are going to get tough. Always try and leave a way for the characters to get out. Even if it's a tiny mouse hole of a way.
-This Role-play may or may not end up having a lot to do with media, and politics. Discussion about the workings of this should happen either through PM or on the RolePlay's Discord, not here.
-No spam
-Keep any romantic relationships PG, and no excessive gore.
-Mental illnesses, such as Anxiety/PTSD/Etc ARE a factor of this RP. If you are sensitive to this, or are implementing it in a character, PLEASE let us know, so we can accommodate you.
-If you do not post you will be left behind. Feel free to rejoin at any point, without reposting your form.
-Keep posts a decent length, no just '"yeah"' or '"sure"' Or 'he looked over', try and give the next person posting at least a little something to work off of.
-Keep abilities reasonable. Nothing too OP. And if you do have an OP ability, give it a very very severe side effect (a revival ability takes another's life in the person being revived's place for example)
-Try not to have the same ability as someone. Maybe somewhat similar, but please have noticeable and significant differences. Everyone's ability is unique.

CHARACTER FORMS-

Name: Alexandria (Alex) Agipole
Gender: Female

Ability Mark: narrow sky blue triangle shaped stripe above and below each eye, (Ones above eyes face up ones below face down) and one facing down between eyes.
Age: 24, almost 25
Personality: Typical ISFJ, wants to protect those she loves, can be really antsy and flighty. It takes a while for her to open up but once she opens up, or you find the 'key' to make her trust you, she opens up fully and becomes much more playful and emphatic and outgoing. She's very closed off and serious and formal when you first meet her. She speaks in a variety of monotone, even if I don't write like that all the time. Suffers from severe PTSD and anxiety. This comes with flashbacks, panic attacks and semi-frequent nightmares.
Primary Ability:Fire. Basically she can shoot, create and manipulate fire. Either using her hands like flame throwers, causing defensive walls of fire to burst from the ground, increase someone's body temperature by touching them or manipulate fire to spin, dance and soar through the air by moving her hands and fingers she can change the shape of the fire she manipulates like this. She can choose and change the chemical make up of the fire, changing its heat, damage capability, and if it's explosive, bellowing spark like, etc. Causes a sky blue glow in her eyes.
Primary Ability Limits/Downsides: When she strains herself she burns her hands, and arms. The severity depending on how much she strains. With how trained her ability is, it's difficult for her to strain it though.
Secondary Ability: She can create portals with a wave of her hand. This can reach up to 20 miles at this point without an ability assist. these are two halves of a whole, often she places one half in front of her and the other half at her destination. So far she can only make one two way portal at a time. Causes a magenta glow in her eyes
Secondary Ability Side Effect/Downsides: She becomes dizzy and nauseous either when she goes through the portal or when she closes it, if she never went through it. How bad her side effect is, depends on how far the destination portal is, and how many she's made that day. Her side effect builds the more she uses her portals, and resets when she sleeps. She needs at least some level of focus to maintain the portals

Ability Mark: A series of lavender diamonds that look like a low necklace over his neck/chest.
Age: 31-32
Personality: ENTP, serious, not all that emotionally aware unless he really really knows the person. Tends to speak bluntly and logically, using logic and reason, or at least give the logical next step choices to those who need comfort. But he's also playful and teasing with anyone and everyone. Although not as severely as others who make teasing a hobby. He loves debate, and will often turn any question or choice he's given back on the head on the person who asks him, ending up helping them make the choice. Or talking it through with them.
Primary Ability: Ice. He can create, or basically shoot streams of snow, make ice sculptures, freeze anything and everything, and manipulate snow that's already fallen or is falling around him. When he breaks his ice sculptures, he can choose to break it around things frozen inside, or break the things frozen inside with the ice. Lavender glow in eyes
Primary Ability Limits/Downsides: He does NOT work well in heat, his ability is severely weakened by it. When he strains himself he risks hypothermia.
Secondary Ability: Future sight. He can look into the future, and see all the different possibilities, as well as which is most likely. When looking at the future he can see exactly what's happening in the moment he's looking at. Rose pink glow in eyes
Secondary Ability Side Effect/Downsides: The longer he consecutively uses it, the higher the risk that it glitches and shows inaccurate, or nigh impossible timelines. Or he can't even see clearly at all. In severe cases it disrupts his mind, and he struggles with comprehension and speech.
Backstory(Optional): Having future sight comes with a lot of responsibility. A lot of hard choices.

Ability Mark: spiralling gold circles of various sizes down one arm.
Age: 11
Personality: hyper, happy, energetic. Very playful, very cheerful. She loves games, and teasing, and playing around. But when she feels stressed, or threatened, she shuts down, and has all the serious maturity of a 30 year old. This happens more often when there’s violence happening around her, that she needs to help with. She loves to use her primary whenever she can.
Primary Ability: Healing. She uses her own energy and nutrients to restore any physical damage to a human or animal body. It’s a very strong form of healing ability that Obinni admires. It’s not a destructive ability at all. Eyes glow yellowy-gold
Primary Ability Limits/Downsides: Obinni is young, so her primary still has a side effect. She gets symptoms of a stomach flu when she heals someone. The severity and duration of these symptoms depends on how much she had to heal. Straining herself is very very dangerous with the current age and health of her ability.
Secondary Ability: Telekinesis. She can lift and move things with her mind. It’s a very young and untrained ability, so she can barely lift an adult, but she regularly practices. Eyes glow purple.
Secondary Ability Side Effect/Downsides: headaches, severity depends on how long she’s been using her ability without rest, and the weight of what she lifts.
Backstory(Optional): has a history of severely overusing and overworking her primary to the point it was starting to not be worth it to use it due to the severe side effect that developed and got worse over time. She now takes medication to help, but lately she’s been having to overuse her primary again.
Other(Optional): Issac’s daughter, and Alex’s niece.

Ability Mark: yellowy green sun-like shape on the palm of his left hand.
Age: 17
Personality: Very kind and gentle. Almost overly so. He's also a stickler for the rules. Being disgruntled, even if only slightly, at even the slightest breaks of the rules he doesn't find necessary. When he feels he's failed, or things haven't gone well, he berates and blames himself. Even if it's not at all his fault.
Primary Ability: Shape-shifting. He can shape-shift into any human or real animal. The age of the animal he shape shifts to matches the equivalent of his age in the lifespan of the animal he's shifted into. He can also utilize and understand the animal's instincts, abilities, (such as strong smell, speed, so on) He also can do a few mythical animals, like a Griffen or Phoenix. But dreams of shifting into a dragon one day. Causes a greenish glow in eyes
Primary Ability Limits/Downsides: The longer he's shifted into something, and the larger the animal, the more exhausted he is when he shifts back. But it's his primary, so this isn't as limiting as a side effect.
Secondary Ability: Heat vision. He can see anything over 80 degrees with a yellowy-red glow. Even if it's through walls, underground etc. He can see a more refined glow and make out more the higher the temperature. Making almost everything glow in summer. White glow in eyes (particularly dim)
Secondary Ability Side Effect/Downsides: He can ONLY see heat. Everything out is black. He's effectively blind. Especially in winter. He also can't stop using his secondary, so he can't get his vision back.
Backstory(Optional): Used to live in another Kingdom, the Cypress Kingdom, as a bounty hunter of criminals, after having been kicked out of royal guard training because of his secondary. He was found by the rightful ruler of the Contorta Kingdom, and brought to be a royal guard for them, so he could support his mother and siblings. He's been loyal to that person ever since.
Other(Optional): He's very very good with dual swords while fighting as a human. Shockingly so for someone who's blind. He fights almost as much with his swords as he does as an animal.

Name: Cephas Oresworth

Gender: Male

Appearance (pic preferred):

Ability Mark: Two royal purple lines swirling out of each corner of his mouth, back along his jaw. Obscured by turtleneck masking. Glowing eyes and mark for each ability: Primary, Secondary.

Age: 14

Personality: Quiet, blunt force of chaos. Needs only a few words to make everyone confused. Has a very deep, personal moral center that doesn’t necessarily match everyone else’s completely. Hates being vulnerable or out of control. He also always carries tiny rocks. Rocks are his favorite object. He presents himself with a rock motif. The truth is, rocks are the simplest and least overwhelming tool for him.

Primary Ability: EXTENSION. Full psychokinetic control over any solid object, so long as it’s touching him or another object he’s controlling. During this, his consciousness and the consciousness of whatever object he controls “merge”, as he becomes aware of the feelings and physical status of the object. This gets complicated with people. It becomes almost like a merging of consciousness, or a passive mind meld.

Primary Ability Limits/Downsides: Difficulty with heavy objects, too many objects, multitudes of granules like dirt or sand. Useless on liquid or gas. Plasma would obviously kill him. If he’s unfocused, if you pull on an object he’s using, it will pop off of him effortlessly. The consciousness merger with a living being, especially a human, can get weird and complicated. That’s what happens when you make a whole person just an “extension” of yourself.

Secondary Ability: SOUL PRINT. Creates a perfect clone of his soul and sends it to “possess” any object or living being of his choice.

Secondary Ability Side Effect/Downsides: This copy will always be temporary. The simpler the object, the shorter its Soul Print life span. Must be touching the object to print on it. Every copy must face the fact that it is no longer Cephas, and its life has just been cut very short. From every copy’s perspective, Cephas just turned into the object, instead of cloning himself. Copy may only use the object as well as the object could already be used, physically speaking. Possessing a rock, for example, is pretty much useless because rocks can’t move or receive sensory input. Copying onto a person creates a secondary personality in addition to the existing one, where one may control the body at a time. Cephas rarely uses Soul Print because it’s just plain traumatic. Backstory(Optional): Romani boy whose parents are in prison. Trying to make it on his own, and perhaps justify his own life. Protective of people younger than himself. He was chased out when he snuck into the Roman Catholic Church and tried to read its Latin Bible scrolls, despite not knowing Latin.

Other(Optional): The rocks are alive, just a little. Everything is just a little alive. And he can hear everything “singing”. He seeks to solve this mystery. In a world where only the material is considered real by most commonfolk, he wants to prove the possibility of intangible reality.

Name: Roxanne Sioux
Gender: Female
Appearance: Roxy is a tall, muscular girl, toned and weathered from years in the ring. Her skin is a dark brown, her eyes a pale red, her hair a shaggy mane of white. Her 5'11" frame is covered with scars of various kinds, and her nose shows signs of multiple breakages. She generally goes about in black pants, a faded yellow chestwrap, and a long black hooded cloak with the sleeves ripped off. She doesn't wear shoes, preferring to wrap her hands and feet with strips of cloth, and she usually covers her mark with a black armband.
Ability Mark: A series of eight dots, arranged in two parallel lines leading to a single, larger dot. Located on her left bicep, colored white. Her mark and eyes flash white when she activates her primary ability, and glow red when she uses her secondary.
Age: 19
Personality: 19 is a bit young to be disillusioned and cynical, but Roxy manages just fine. She meets most of life's challenges with an annoyed sigh and half-hearted eye roll, giving exactly the amount of effort required and not a fraction more. She prefers to keep her own company, and when forced to interact with others she's abrasive, curt, and blunt to the point of rudeness. Being forced to do things she doesn't want to is generally a surefire way to get her in a bad mood, but she isn't really prone to outbursts of anger, preferring to sit and grumble about it to herself. Despite her rough exterior, Roxy has a rigid moral code, and will never turn down a request for help. Sure, she'll complain the whole time, but she'll still do it.
Primary Ability: Cryptokinetic Movement: By executing certain motions, Roxy can trigger a variety of effects, ranging from brief intangibility, momentary invulnerability, and short-range teleportation to enhanced strength, amplified mass, and even energy projection.
Primary Ability Limits/Downsides: Each effect corresponds to a specific motion, and will only activate when that motion is executed. If Roxy is restrained or her motion is somehow interrupted, the effect won't resolve. Each effect has a short delay before it can be used again, although multiple different movements can be chained together relatively quickly. If Roxy is restrained or her movement is hindered, she is effectively powerless. Additionally, certain actions require a vocal component in addition to a kinetic one, and become unusable if she's silenced or unable to speak.
Secondary Ability: Install: For a short period of time, Roxy dramatically increases her strength, speed, and pain tolerance.
Secondary Ability Side Effect/Downsides: Install doesn't actually make Roxy stronger, it simply removes her natural inhibitors on her muscles. Using it takes an enormous toll on her body, even breaking her own bones if she's not careful. While she doesn't feel pain for the duration of Install, she still sustains injuries, and the cumulative shock once the effect wears of often renders her unconscious. Like her primary ability, Install has a vocal component, and is thus unusable if Roxy is rendered mute.
Backstory(Optional): A street-raised orphan, whose ability and natural talent for fighting made her an instant hit in an underground fighting ring owned by the local crime syndicate. Most of her youth was spent beating people up for money, either in the ring or in the alleys. As she grew up, her fights became more and more morally questionable, and after she was told to lose a match on purpose she left. Now she's on the run, with both sides of the law after her.

The media had been going crazy for months now. The Contorta Kingdom’s new King has been causing an uproar, disrupting and destroying the lives of everyone he sees fit. Alex tightens her grip on the reins to her beautiful black mare as she mulls this over. There’d even been talks of war against him. Her and some of her family and friends were doing what any logical Contorta Kingdom subject was doing right now... Getting the heck out.

“Almost there!” Alex calls.

They had been galloping until now, no man’s land is dangerous. And they don’t stop as they enter an old, warn down village, with dirt roads, and shacks for selling things, all made of wood. She only pulls her horse to a stop as they reach the stable. She pulls the hood of her jacket up and slides off. A stable hand takes her horse from her, and two others come to take the horses of her traveling companions.

Issac slides off his stallion and walks over to help his daughter down from the horse she rides. Obinni smiles weakly up at him. “Hey! You there!” A guard patrolling the town stalks towards them. “Show me your marks!” ‘Dang it!’ Issac grabs Obinni’s hand, and the three of them take off running.

Name: Vitali Tarasovych Kovalchuk. (Vee-tah-lee Taras-o-vich Ko-val-chuck).
Gender: Male
Appearance: Here
Vitali has short, black hair that is longer on top, and tends to look somewhat messy - especially after training. His eyes are heterochromatic, with one eye being dark brown, and the other an intense light blue that either creeps out or mystifies others. He stands at 6'1'', and he has an athletic build.
Ability Mark: A silver crescent moon, with a light blue lightning strike going through it, just under the left side of his ribs.
Age: 21.

Personality: Cool, calm and collected, Vitali is the kind of person that you'd never see stressing out while under pressure - certainly not outwardly, anyway. He emits a don't-care attitude towards mostly anything that he's not passionate about. Is it a front for something he's trying to hide? Sort of. While most of it is genuine, there is a part of him that is insecure and about to reach breaking point - but he's hiding it because he's not about to be seen by anyone else as 'weak'. Towards most people, he's pretty friendly and good to be around. However, if he decides that he dislikes you - which is, really, mostly based off his first impression of you - then he will be notably colder towards you and sarcastic. He can also be a little dramatic in some situations.

Primary Ability: Lunar Magic/Manipulation. He is able to draw power from the moon to create lunar attacks in the form of a silvery white beam or orbs, form a translucent shield around himself or others, and heal others. His eyes glow silver when using this power.
Primary Ability Limits/Downsides: High energy output (for example, using his powers a lot in a short space of time or creating a particularly large/powerful attack) can cause him to become exhausted very quickly. Also, he does not necessarily have total control at all times. Additionally, while this power is stronger during the evening/night, it is much weaker during the morning/afternoon. Finally, the lunar healing cannot resurrect, any illnesses, or heal broken bones or life-threatening injuries.
Secondary Ability: Phasing. Vitali can phase himself through solid objects, such as walls and trees, or phase his body so that objects aimed at him will just pass through.
Secondary Ability Side Effect/Downsides: The only objects he cannot phase through are steel and iron. Also, each time he uses this power, his mind gets clouded and it also triggers his narcolepsy a few moments after using the power.

Backstory: Originally from wherever this world would consider Ukraine, and he is able to speak what we would understand as Ukrainian and Russian fluently. His English is less than perfect.
Other: He suffers from a form of narcolepsy, which causes him to fall asleep for a short amount of time if he is bored or overwhelmed, so he tends to try and keep himself busy and focused on something. He can sense when a 'sleep attack' is coming on a few minutes in advance. Also, he's allergic to seafood, and has a fear of snakes.
