i'm curious, does anyone here ship any of my favorite ships? they're unfortunately rarepairs and content of them is scarce but i love them lol. i haven't been thinking of them much lately but i stillll adore them.
celestia ludenberg x sayaka maizono
these two girls don't appear that similar on the surface level but they do have a couple important things in common imo. they're both obsessed with projecting a particular appearance or impression of themselves to others (celeste being this mysterious, cunning gambling lady that others should fear and be wary of, and sayaka being the friendly, personable popstar that seeks to please and entertain other people).
celeste does it because she wants to live out her wild fantasy, be unique, and hold power over others, both through fear and manipulation. because really, aside from her gambling prowess, she's not capable of very much - unlike her fellow, talented classmates. the only leverage she has over the others is to present herself as someone dangerous and intelligent so they either steer clear of her or fulfill her demands.
sayaka does it because she's had her sights set on being an idol from the beginning, and to attain that dream she had to climb through the ranks and rise to the top. and to do that, she had to be exactly what the people wanted, leading her to mold her persona after the traits that would make her attractive to the public: cheerful, giggly, endearing, so on and so forth. seemingly flawless.
their actual, unfiltered selves don't really see the light of day, because allowing them to be revealed would only spell weakness and destroy the image they each had built up. we only see small hints of what their inner selves are like in DR1: sayaka breaks down and reveals she's a terrified girl under immense pressure out of fear of losing all that she's worked and sacrificed for (and basically centered her whole life on), to the point that she'll jump to any measure necessary to keep up her life as it is. celeste breaks down when she feels powerless or backed into a corner, and the façade she has up falls to pieces when she lashes out in frustration and anger. there are lowkey hints at her non-gothic-aesthetic interests in the game, like manga and gyoza, which conflict with the celestia ludenberg persona she has created.
very little of what they present to others is authentic and not fabricated, and i think it would be interesting if they recognized that in each other. they can relate to each other's struggles in a way that is unique to their situations. idk, i really love the idea of them both opening up about their actual selves to each other without the pressure of having to perform. and just growing as people and letting go of the obsessions that are weighing them down and isolating them (or at least practicing them in a healthier way). sayaka's a sweet gal and celeste's a standoffish one and i'm a big big sucker for the trope of the cheery light person wiggling their way into the heart of the colder, darker one. big big big love for celezono here.
celestia ludenberg x kyoko kirigiri
they're just fun together really, aesthetically and, idk, symbolically?? celeste is a notorious liar that likes to twists situations to her advantage and distort the truth. kyoko is a cold hard detective out to analyze anything and everything to determine the truth through logic and facts. they'd really clash together in a fun way, since they're both two intellectuals using their intelligence for pretty much opposite reasons. i feel like kyoko could call celeste out on her act and figure out what actually makes her tick, and that the hurdles that celeste presents her with through her lies and mind games will keep kyoko too morbidly fascinated by this strange individual to give up the case. celeste on the other hand is also trying to crack through kyoko's cold girl exterior to try to reveal the vulnerable side of her hiding behind the thick emotional walls she's built to keep other people out. and then like. eventually they end up knowing each other so well in a way that other people don't. and they feel complicated about that. they both seem to hate each other on the surface but also are undeniably fascinated by this person they are continuously struggling to unravel and outwit. and they fall in luv. heart emoji
kyoko kirigiri x sayaka maizono
sayaka as kyoko's sidekick instead of makoto DESTROYs me. sayaka has the same upbeat attitude that makoto has, which is what makes him work so well with kyoko in naegiri, so, u know, it works similarly in kirizono. sayaka's whole schtick about having good intuition probably grinds kyoko's gears, Especially when that intuition turns out to be correct without needing any concrete evidence. it's another outgoing girl x quiet girl thing that dominates majority of my ships (i'm looking at u tokomaru…) bcos. sayaka's all about making people happy and being liked by them, so anyone who Doesn't immediately like her probably catches her attention, and she'll be on their tail trying to figure out why. and kyoko is one of those people who isn't easy to impress, so it takes a while for her to really warm up to sayaka. something something something, they luv each other..idk i don't have anything super concrete with any of these ships so this is all just vague ramblings lol. also all three of them dating is valid too.
