Greedy demand is killing cs.

I'm just so tired of people claiming OMGSR rats are worthless. They're not worth less than a VR guys.

It's to the point where I'm just not going to be too active on here due to people being greedy over pixels.

When others start asking a bunch of VR's to even an OMGSR for a Shima LT, it turns regular-healthy demand to unhealthy-market-ecomony-crashing demand.

Demand is demand and that's up to the users. Just because it is OMGSR doesn't make it worth that and that's definitely been proven on this site.

And goodness, maybe I should auction my Shima LOL.

And as said above, people can throw stones, but if you had a high demand OMGSR.....would you trade it for an OMGSR rat?
Or would you get what you can for it ?

That's just supply and demand for you. The older pets are rereleased every year and the store pets are not. And as demand rises while supply falls, value goes up. That's just how economies are. It's just not feasible to keep value the exact same when everybody and their mother wants a Raven, or a Cerberus, or whatever. Only way to alleviate it would be to reintroduce the animals and make them more common, but it would have to be done through the store.

demand has always been a thing, and its how economies work
more demand = more profit
it does suck for the most part, but it'd also be unfair to those who worked for their pets if they came back
for good or something.

I can so relate! The rats should be respected more. I’ve been having a hard time trading them off, especially my Santa Rat duplicate, and it’s honestly making me not want rats anymore because it’s been so difficult trading them. I’ll admit, I declined a trade recently for some old rats someone offered and it’s only because it’s been a struggle to trade them off.
Not to mention that they’re the number one pet I see in trade/auction rules that people don’t want. I personally think they’re really cute, I cant understand why people don’t like them but then again I love all animals lol.

I also agree with the Shima LT thing, I know it’s a cool looking pet and valued, but I’ve seen some offers I would never personally send because of the demand.

Although I do wish I would've kept the extra ones I had back in '09

Oh and don't forget the "if this person looks for it they will overpay" demand.
I've encountered this greed way too often now.
People wanted me to pay like twice the value of a blue rose and I was like ???

I feel like it's bad advice to give to someone, and I've seen it on the fair trade thread a bit.
I understand valuing demand to a certain extent, but telling people that they need extreme overpay for every somewhat popular pet doesn't feel right. It can be a struggle for many people to catch up, and sayings like that don't help.

I actually had a friend who was on this site when we were younger, we were neighbors, and she quit because she felt like she could never catch up to other players. It's actually the reason why I take long breaks I get into it and get down to twenty-something wishlist pages, and feel a bit discouraged after a while since I can't get the more valued pets.

It's true that demand is up to the users, but some people do want to decrease the extreme cases of it.
That's the main issue I see, and I think in the long run it'll benefit everybody trading-wise.
Like I personally believe all OMGSR pets should be respected by their rarity, despite the species. I understand that lions/dogs/dragons can have a higher demand, but treating OMGSR rats like they can't fetch anything is not really fair for those who do have them and wish to trade for other pets.

The ChickenSmoothie fan page I'm on through a different website posted something about Dec. 18th, and I felt bad because people were showing off their pets (just the individual pics of them) and the ones with rats were so disappointed, even though they had high rarities.

Basically, I don't think rats should be seen as disposable, rather they need to be valued more.

I mean...there's nothing anyone can do about low demand pets. No one can MAKE someone like rats, horses, and such.

And again, throwing stones. If someone offered got a low demand OMGSR rat for a VERY high demand VR dog...you could take it? If you say you go by rarity.

Honestly? I don't even care about so many in-demand pets (like the warriors, the raven, the Shima LT aso.)
I can't even remember what I traded my Shima for...

But you can't just ignore that some pets really get undervalued (and I'm not even talking about rats or so, I talk about Grinners, Pink Septembers, Tribals) just because someone started to say they're worth less.

Actually, an OMGSR is not less valuable than a VR. It's okay to play it based on demand, but not to where associatie an OMGSR is worth less than a VR.

Healthy demand is healthy, but if you feed greedy demand, it's asking for the economy to crumble.

I would trade my high demand omgsr for a rat OMGSR because I prefer rats.

I know demand is user based and everyone is allowed to value their pets, people shouldn't let people try to tell an OMGSR rat is worthless, it's beyond the truth

Plus when you feed demand, there's a chance it will bite back.

If you play that way, fine go for it- but don't throw stones at those who wish to play their way and speak out about harmful demand

I totally agree!!! Except some things about demand make since, like I wouldn’t trade an omgsr rat for like the omgsr shortcake, not solely just because of demand, but just because the rats are more ugly than other linearts (sorry to those who like rats lol) but like a lot of the time people just want certain pets because everyone else wants them

This thread is made for healthy discussions that should be addressed to help everyone out, and there need not be any stones "thrown' for having an opinion about something that doesn't feel right.

The whole point is to make trading fairer and to acknowledge the issues with unhealthy amounts of demand ^.^

^^ agreed! Demand sucks, but I only hear complaints from people who have low demand pets that they're trying to trade/a high demand pet they're trying to get. When you are the one with the high demand pets it's not so much of a problem anymore :p. (I don't say this to be mean and I'm sorry if it at all sounds that way! I'm guilty of it too!) I do think that demand is an issue, but it was an issue way before the rares list was retired. People tend to MAKE high demand pets their dreamies because that's what everyone wants, which only adds fuel to the fire. I'm not saying that it's a bad thing because obviously there's a reason these pets are so coveted, but it is something to consider. It's also easy to blame it on hoarders of valuable pets but I don't think that's fair either. I used to be against it when I was newer only because I didn't have those pets and wanted them. Now that I've actually started some hoards with valuable pets I've realized that I work just as hard to get them as everybody else, if not more, and while it is frustrating to see players with multiple of the pet you want it's also completely within their rights to collect them. Idk I personally have been on both sides and feel as though the rares list was so broken anyway that getting rid of it will be better in the long run. I like to value pets by mostly their rarity tag but also how much I like them.
