Personally I think the biggest problem for CS trading is the old store pets, the demand for them is what really messes up the CS economy. We all know why - they're not re-released like other rare pets, are massively hoarded (which is those players right), many have found forever homes, they're slowly turning OMGSR, and 99% of CS traders want them. Whether people want them for the design, to have a complete pet collection, to on trade, or just because they want to own the most popular pets on CS, the fact is that many people are not interested in trading valuable pets these days unless the trade includes one of the '09/'10 store pets and considering their scarcity in the trading pool this means valuable trading on CS is now very hard and slow going.

Honestly I think the only solution to the problem would be a re-release of the old store pets but I don't think it should be via a C$ box including every store pet ever made, as was suggested, as I can just imagine the drama that would create. What I'd love to see is some kind of competition, like in 2011, or even a raffle type system so that not too many were released at once. Alternatively just releasing some through the pound releases or an extremely rare chance with normal adopts, as with the zebras. Something needs to happen as this has been dragging CS down for years and just continues to worsen.

Personally I took a break from CS (apart from to jump on to adopt the monthlies) soon after the list was retired as I found what had already been a hard slog trading wise became a real nightmare and I just didn't see the point of trying to trade in that environment. I've been more active the last few weeks due to the advent but will probably go back to just logging on once a month after the advent as if anything trading is even worse than when I decided to take a break. I'm not surprised, I predicted this when people were celebrating voting to get rid of the list rather than remake it because they strangely thought it would make people trade their valuable, old, hard to attain pets for more recent, easily attained pets  but if even half the people with valuable pets feel and do the same as me and either go on hiatus or just lock their valuable pets away it's sadly going to mess up the economy even more

I bolded what I disagree with a bit and italicized what I wholly agree with.

Here's the thing: what drama will be had that isn't already here? Just look at the 18th rereleases. People still moan and groan over what they get. Life isn't always going to be fair or give you what you want. I mean, man, my 18th pets are all traded away for the most part already because I didn't want them. Got nothing new or anything I wanted while my sister got a new UR, but that's just luck of the draw. Rereleasing store pets at all is pretty much going to be luck of the draw.

Personally, the people who would complain would need to deal with. Tough luck. Maybe next time. No one here is entitled to get the best, most valuable things when they open up a mystery box, but it feels like some users seem to think that sometimes. Not that they're overtly saying so, it's more just in the tone of some posts I've seen. So I don't think a store rerelease in a box you buy with C$ once a year or whatever would introduce anything other than what we already see with the December 18th event.

As for your comment about getting rid of the list, I am absolutely baffled as to why anybody thought getting rid of it was a good idea at the time. Sure, it was outdated from what I hear, but that's why the work gets put in to update it. There are a lot of knowledgeable people here that I'm sure would have been happy to do so. Instead, people voted to get rid of it as a whole, and now here we are without a single lick of structure or guide, and it's hurting everybody. All because people didn't see the long term consequences of getting rid of it. I now ask about every trade I have involving my ex-lists, since I now have absolutely no idea what they're worth. It's frustrating, truly.

When the list was retired I stopped trading lists. I am just lost in this trading system and I don't have fun at trading anymore. CS ist definetly not the same for me since that day.
I also don't trust others in the 'FTT' anymore. They can't really know more than I can know, because what you can currently see on the market ist not the worth of the pets in trades, it's mainly the completely overrated demand.
But there is no real demand for every of this demand pets. There is also a lot of greed, one public trade is enough to give hundreds of pets owners the feeling that their pet is super valuable and in one day the demand increases from nothing to sky-high.

And it's not only demand of pets that is sky-high. It's also about the items even if those items get cycled in again, it doesn't matter... There is no effect on the market. Prices only go up, they don't come down anymore.

Honestly the title is so true. I feel like demand sucks all the fun out of this game. I used to think it was the list that made this game really not-fun or fair to new players, but the list was flawed BY demand. The fact that a 2014 store pet is considered worth an omgsr from 2009 is absolutely absurd to me. Its to the point where I think that there should be a major change to the site, new players are being barred off from being able to even touch certain pets.

See personally, what I think should be done, is some more regular intervals of things like dec. 18th and possibly a shorter pound duration. The pound used to let you see all the pets they have and since its the account that takes the confiscated pets from people, it has a lot of very nice, popular pets.

I think we should be allowed to take more than one pet, they should release double the amount of pets at a time and they should happen more frequently since this would pump more rare-omgsr pets into the game itself. Even if this is for a certain month- like an "event" in a month without a holiday. It could be "the pound event" where the pound has these "perks". It would still start providing more balance to the economy. The event doesnt have to be like normal events either, it could just be based off the pound without the addition of other pet gifts.

And I honestly think dec. 18th should happen 2 times a year. In my experience, the biggest event every year is Christmas because of december 18th, and then its the summer event because its always different. Maybe in the summer event there could be a part of the event where you can revive an "ancient pet" at random. Of course the wording could change, like for this years event it could be "The fae's have got a surprise for you! Using their magic, they've uncovered a pet that was lost long ago. They would like you to have it! :D". I feel like this would help more, to have a second time where older pets are put into the game. No URs would be released either, so theres still something special about december 18th.

These are just ideas, I dont know if they could ever happen but I think I'm on a good thought track.

I understand why they dont rerelease store pets tbh, but increasing the rarity of them feels a little wrong. They gain status from age already. I would say "just rerelease them" but they don't because you spend chicken dollars on store pets, and that costs legit money. It would be unfair to the people who actually bothered buying the store pets way back when.

There should be a more fair list that either includes or is only featuring store pets, as they are what people are trading for and it should be more advised to trade them for other store pets than for older pets. Basically people shouldnt be saying a UR is worth the pps cat from 2014. Especially when SO many people probably have that pet because its from 2014 and everyone wanted it.

As a player since 2014...I just hate that the List was discontinued. That made people think that my valuable pets with decent demand are worth their random VR from 2011 and it's not. I still trade by List, WON'T trade off it, and people get offended by that as well. That List was the whole base of trading valuable pets on CS and now it's 'retired'.

Demand is demand. I would give a Zebra or OMGSR rat for a Joker in a heartbeat. They ARE worth less and well..that's fact because you said that demand is up to the people on this site and it is.
And yes, there are certain pets I have that I will NEVER trade because I know demand will skyrocket. I'll never trade my store pet, or my Shima. And depending on the outcome, my Toxic won't be going either. I want those pets to be OMGSR one day, so I'm gladly doing my part. Also...truly hope old store pets are never rereleased, that would literally suck the demand right out of them.

As for new players...get educated before you trade. I was scammed out of pets when I first joined, but that was no one's fault but my own, really. When I had a goal for a pet in 2014....demand didn't matter, I worked my way up and got it regardless. No one is barred from anything, if you work hard enough...you can own ANY pet on this site.

EDIT: The ONLY thing I think is crazy is how a skelebun is worth more than the UR Tiger dog at this point lol. But because when I first started playing the UR Tiger dog was the BEST pet you could even own. And again, demand is demand. I still don't care for it because buns are nothing but trading fodder to me, so the hype isn't for me lol.

Has the demand for certain pets gone through the roof? Yes. Is it killing CS? No.

Why not?

CS isn't just about a handful of high demand pets - there are literally THOUSANDS of pets in here. To distill everything down to just those few 'precious' ones is what is harming CS. Yes, it's nearly impossible to get those really expensive outcomes but what about everything else? New players could have years and years of fun collecting awesome stuff if they just looked around a bit more. There are beautiful pets released every month.

And THAT is what's killing CS. People just want the "good old valuable stuff" instead of monthly new outcomes. Have most of us forgotten what Chicken Smoothie is all about?

THIS!!!

My reasons for playing CS are undoubtedly a LOT different from when I first started, but back then it was about collecting NEW pets. At first...I didn't give a hoot about how many Nons a Raven dog or Shima LT was worth lol.

Since I came back from my hiatus, so much has changed in so little time.

Trading is very difficult now and not enjoyable nine times out of ten. I get a few good people who offer amazing trades, and the rest are pretty bad. My equines from 2009-2010 that I still have left in my trade group get treated like garbage because of the demand nonsense. I get a lot of “I was told they have low demand” and the trade gets cancelled or they edit it to where it’s extremely unfair to me. I’ve got a few offers that only offered like 4-5 2018-2019 commons and uncommons for a rare from 2009 or 2010 just because ponies, horses, and even rats have been so, I guess disliked is the word for it? When I first started, it was so muck easier to trade any pet-regardless of species.

It just seems so difficult now. Even if I offer rats that are a few years older than the pet I want, it gets cancelled. Lions now demand extreme overpay (they were always popular, but oh boy the trades I have had to get some). I remember when I first started, people traded rats for lions and other pets. It was just different. There were still pets that had more demand, but it wasn’t as bad as it is now. People were more lenient in the early years, at least to me. For example, I’ve been trying to trade my Santa Rat duplicate (former tier 4) and most of those trades get cancelled, even though most of them are extremely unfair to me. I’ve been back for not even a full month with no luck on that rat  it’s so wild to me, I remember wanting it when I first joined because people were just here to collect pets. But now it’s just heavily focused on demand.

Demand has really got ridiculous and it’s not just related to species. The older store pets are difficult to trade for and don’t really help the case of increasing demand since they are so limited. I do wish there was some form of rerelease for them, even in small amounts. I’ve seen some trades that have had ridiculous demand for store pets, and I’ve seen auctions that have given low ratings to pretty high rarity, old pets, because of demand. This demand is only going to get worse because of them not coming back, and many store pets sitting on old accounts that are no longer in use and therefore are out of the “trading economy” that just add more demand to them.

Like I’ve noticed a huge spike in the PPS Dragon cat, and some of the offers I have seen treat it like it was a former Main/high September list.
