Fallensun woke up slowly. Blinking sleep from his eyes, he got up to see what everyone was doing.

Darkpaw walked over to Fallsnsun. "I'd like to go try to hunt, but I can't find Terrorspirit," he meowed.

Tornadostar sighs, she sits up, after blinking away her tears, she murmurs to Duskridge "we need to bring them back." she stands, and leans forward, grief rips her heart when she grabs the scruff of her head clanmate, and said clanmate didn't react. The black furred leader then starts dragging Sunflare back to camp.

she walks through the entrance to camp, grief on her face. She can't meet the eyes of her clanmates. She feels like a failure as a leader, having lost a cat like this. Especially since clearly Sunflare had been attacked, and she smelled nothing but thunderclan on their pelt. One of her clan had killed them.
She lays Sunflare in the middle of the camp, then finally lifts her head, and lets her gaze sweep over the cats in the clearing.

terrorspirit had many other reasons to bristle up her fur, but in all her moons of living, this had to be the worst.

sunflare’s corpse had been found on the edge of the windclan border, seemingly undamaged aside from one set of bite marks, too small to be a fox’s. terrorspirit had been just as distraught as the rest of the clan, but her mood certainly plummeted when they all turned to her, suspecting her of murder.

”that’s enough,” tornadostar barked from the highledge when the other warriors started surrounding terrorspirit. the advancing cats started to instead clamor around tornadostar, expecting a meeting. ”you are all being unreasonable. terrorspirit has done nothing of suspect.”

”someone has to be responsible for sunflare’s death,” a cat from the crowd pointed out.

tornadostar frowned. ”and what makes you say it was one of our own? sunflare was on evening patrol last night by the windclan border. any windclan warrior or stray could have--”

duskridge leapt onto the highledge, neck fur pointing straight upward. ”sunflare was one of the most noble warriors in our clan! not just any stray could have killed them. the culprit has to be in thunderclan!”

the leader stared down at duskridge before sweeping her gaze over the crowd. terrorspirit could have sworn that her bright blue eye lingered on her for just a second longer, but then tornadostar looked away once more.

”very well, then. we will have a vote.” as she paused, the forest seemed far too still, too quiet. ”all for terrorspirit’s exile, stand before the highledge. all against it, gather by the nursery.” much to terrorspirit’s dismay, only a few cats split off to the nursery.

tornadostar’s eyes softened briefly. she bounded down from the highledge to stand beside her daughter. ”very well then. if you choose to abandon my trust by exiling my kit, then i suppose i am no longer fit to lead thunderclan.” her eyes met duskridge’s. ”if terrorspirit goes, i go as well.”

the choice between two kits was settled. before any other cat could get a word in, the two of them were gone from the camp, leaving behind only a single pink petal.

looks like you’ve scared off a pair! the killer still lurks among your ranks.

”you must be sad.”

ravenwillow jumped, startled. just earlier that day, the exile was held. the sun was now hovering over the horizon, and the evening was growing dark. at sunhigh, honeypool had been declared the new deputy and duskridge’s nine lives ceremony had been postponed by a few days.

”why do you say that?” she asked, reaching to lap gently at her paw.

the killer sat themself down beside her. ”your mother and sister were just exiled,” they pointed out. ”are you not upset?”

”i will miss them, perhaps more than the rest of thunderclan,”[b] ravenwillow admitted. [b]”but it’s for the best that they’re gone. sunflare will be mourned for quite a while.”

"that's true," the killer mused. "so will you, i think."

"huh?"

"when your time comes, i mean!" they corrected quickly, ears flattening. "queens are vital to our clan. without any queens in the nursery, thunderclan would eventually die out."

ravenwillow nodded, purring. "i'm proud to stay in the nursery. other clans say that there’s no use for a she-cat who doesn’t hunt, but to the dark forest with that! i do enough hunting when i’m rounding up restless kits.”

”does anyone actually say that?”

”probably not.”

”ah. okay.”

the killer watched the queen’s expression flicker as she reminisced about her banished kin. they took pity on her. perhaps… it might be better just to end her days here.

the two drifted into silence for a moment, a pause drawn out so long that ravenwillow hardly noticed when the killer slashed her throat and left her to bleed.

oh no! your only queen is gone! time is fleeting, thunderclan.

Darkpaw awoke the next morning, wondering if Duskridge would be able to train him. Getting to his paws, he walked out of his den, stopping when he scented blood and death. "Not again," he groaned, following the scent. "Mom?" he called out, hoping, but knowing she wasn't with the clan anymore. "Not you to," he murmured, pressing his nose into Ravenwillow's fur.

Honeypool awoke, stretching his legs before padding out into the clearing to clean his messy fur. He needed to find his apprentice. But before he could do any of those things, he spotted Darkpaw towards the edge of camp.
“Darkpaw?” He called out. He realized the apprentice was hunched over something, his small shoulders shaking. “Darkpaw!” He called again, running over to him, facing another death in the clan. “Ravenwillow.” He murmured, flicking his tail to touch the apprentice’s shoulder. “Go get Duskridge.” He told the young cat, pressing his nose into Ravenwillow’s fur to find a scent of the killer. All he could find was the clans mixed scents.

Skyheart noticed Honeypool had ran out and immediently padded after him, her eyes widening when seeing Ravenwillow had died, another victim of the treacherous killer. "No...No...No no no!" She yowled, her eyes tearing up. Even though Ravenwillow wasn't related to her, she had been somewhat close with her. Plus, this made her worried for the future of her family.
