This is my first december 18. I've seen that store pets were only rereleased in 2010 (Hmmm and never after that.) Was this a glitch? Also, good luck for everyone!

its random no matter when you adopt. you could be the first, or you could adopt in the last 10 minutes before December 19th, and your chances really wouldn't be any higher or lower. the adoption page does reccomend adopting 1 at a time, though, instead of all at once just in case

most of them are all re-releases! with the exception of new urs, there can be any amount of new urs really, but it's usually kept to around 1-3. there's only been two released each year since 2014.

the amount you adopt at once doesn't impact your chances at all, it's simply just an option.

i think i remember one year where those who missed the dec 18th adopts had a day/couple days to adopt them at the end of the event. will this happen again this year? in case some users can't log on tomorrow?
