Ella watched Alastair step towards the forest, calling out to his potential attackers but with his sword pointing downwards. There was no verbal response but three familiar faces (well.. two and a wolf) burst out. Two fireballs flew from Jen’s fingertips and Ella’s mouth parted in shock as Alastair merely caught them and looked disappointed as they fizzled away into sparks. So that was the ability she’d been looking out for this entire time. The Prince’s further response was simply a request not to fight, and as Quinn fired a shot that never reached him Ella realised their plan. They wanted to scare him?... Well, she could have told them that wouldn’t work. Everyone knew about Onetian’s abilities to suppress their emotions, and Alastair’s ability seemed stronger than most’s. Arys and Quinn seemed to realise this and began to speak calmly and logically, a sure-fire way to get on the Prince’s good side, but that soon all went to pot when Demetria flew out in dragon form. Ella should have been prepared but even she couldn’t help but jump as she felt the warm breath from the dragon roaring down at them. Alastair did not take to the surprise too kindly, angrily jumping up to defend her with his sword ready for action and triggering another bout of guilt in her. She was worried that the Phoenix squad had gone too far and rubbed her forehead in a stressed manner as they began to argue. “Look at them,” She stood, moving to stand behind the Prince and speaking over his shoulder in the hopes of dulling some of his anger. “They don’t know what they’re doing.” The contempt in her voice didn’t completely have to be feigned, the Phoenix squad seemed to have lost all ability to communicate with each other. Ella had been stuck in the Palace of Swords for what felt like an eternity, unknowingly working towards this moment and these kids were going to make all this be for nothing, and worse were endangering themselves in the process, just because they didn’t know how to talk to each other. She appreciated her friend, Cujo’s, attempt to make peace with the Prince but his role clearly hadn’t been discussed and it seemed foolish to give away the locations of the entire squad. Jen, with all her fire, practically screamed at him and Ella shook her head gently. Not the respectable image she’d prefer the rebels to portray.
Thankfully, Alastair seemed to realise that the sudden attack wasn’t a planned trick on him but merely confusion from a bunch of teens with the weight of being Delra’s potential saviours on their shoulders and Quinn and Arys began to pull it back. Ella understood Jen’s hesitation to trust the Prince, Ella cursed herself every time she allowed herself to be swayed by his chivalry and kindness, but she was glad that the Prince was being spared from any more violence today. Atlanta was a welcome face and Ella glanced around as other rebels began to emerge. There was one face in particular she was looking for and she had to supress a shock as panic as when she couldn’t spot it. Gently she reminded herself that another of her friends, Aisling, wasn’t here either and neither was Ardai, Caleb, many others but she couldn’t help but worry. Surely this whole event would have carried on a whole lot more smoothly if Lanette was around, and the young woman was so determined that Ella couldn’t imagine her not being present at the front-lines of this important mission. She was only stirred from her worry at the realisation that Alastair had now agreed to be blindfolded and led back to rebel headquarters and that he was prioritising a single request of her safety. Before today this wasn’t how she expected this interaction to go but now… she wasn’t so surprised.

Brenn watched as the alpha team burst in and readied to turn Gavotte’s water into ice only for his eyes to widen at the water-bender’s alarmed expression as his ability failed as it reached the Prince. When he reached out with his own power he found that he could only slightly frost the outskirts of the puddle before the extent of his ability just seemed to drop off into nothingness. Jen’s fireball had also dwindled out upon contact with the Prince. The rest of the ‘fight’ seemed to be chaos, and most of the fighting appeared to be between themselves. Gavotte looked nervous when the communicator buzzed through the commander, informing them all to come out of their hiding places and Brenn didn’t feel so different. Every part of him that came from his mother was screaming not to trust the Delran Prince but he would listen to his teammates over that voice in his head. “If Atlanta thinks it’s okay then it must be. She knows what she’s doing.”
He began to stand warily from his position behind the bushes, “We’re at the advantage here, even if he’s not trustworthy there’s too many of us for him to try anything if we come out of hiding.”
