“I do,” She meowed confidently, her ears twitching as she heard her own voice echo across camp. This was it, the moment she’d been waiting for all her life. A grin spread across her muzzle and she had to fight back a purr of triumph.
Redfur - forest/shore Outside clan territory! - Tags: Fernsnap
Redfur listened as she talked about her clan mates disappearing and despite his dislike of the clan’s he felt a cold weight of concern settle over him. “Missing without a scent or sound huh, that… that’s odd.” He muttered, trying to think of possible reasons for how a group of cats could disappear like that. There had been no rain the night before, if they’d snuck out then they still should have had clear scents and well, he’d experienced first hand how easily one could get caught sneaking around their territory. Perhaps birds had got them? But so many? For a loner like himself being taken by a bird wouldn’t be so hard but for a strong well fed cat like those in the clans it didn’t seem realistic. Stories from his kit hood stirred in the back of his mind, of shadows that waited just outside the nest to snatch little kittens who’d been thrown out for being disobedient or just too curious for their own good. Redfur shivered, shadows like that weren’t real, they never were, he reminded himself, looking up to meet Fernsnap’s bright green eyes. The concern in those eyes brought him back to the present, she’d really been worried about him, hadn’t she? The look was gone in a second, replaced by a playful but smug expression he was becoming used to seeing on the bangeled warrior. His whiskers twitched indignantly but the tips of his ears felt hot, “I-I resent that.” He said, throwing his nose upwards haughtily, “I’d give myself at least a few days before dropping dead, maybe more if I’m not eaten outright.” A grin broke through his mock annoyance and then the expression softened and he gave a small rueful chuckle, “Seriously though, I’m not as incompetent as I look. Even without my front leg, I’ve still got some tricks up my paw.” He purred in a voice more confident than he really felt, waving his good paw in a fan like gesture for emphasis.

As Heronclaw got comfortable and began to eat her mouse two familiar voices cut through her thoughts. She didn’t bother looking up but she could hear Rabbitstar and Beartuft talking not that far from where she sat. Granted the two were far enough that she couldn’t make out much of what they were saying without trying to get a bit closer but Heronclaw wasn’t the type to go out of her way to eavesdrop. If it was something important they announce it to the clan and if it wasn’t something important that she didn’t really care. Still, she wondered if this was about the cats that had been missing from their nests early this morning. It seemed unlikely that the cause had been a change in patrol times, she’d been meaning to ask to make sure but hadn’t yet worked up the energy to talk to anyone about it.
