Brownfoot listened to the cats blurting out names. He turned to Skyheart he felt really bad for her but he knew somebody had to go. He took a deep breath and blurted out the name."SKYHEART!"

coalstar sat atop the highrock, seeming solemn yet serious.
"cats of thunderclan. a horrible fate has befallen two of our clanmates on
this night. while it is a shame, and we must take time to mourn them,
we cannot let this set us back. conditions will only get worse as we get
closer to leafbare, and we can't let ourselves be weakened.
especially if whoever did this is still on the loose." a w
there were whispers and murmurs among the gathered cats.
eventually, among the chaos, a cat piped up, "there was no scent on their
bodies! just thunderclan scent."
"what if the killer is one of us?" hol e
the sound of overlapping voices grew much louder.
"lets figure out who the killer is and exile them!" someone shouted.
coalstar sighed. he'd hate to lose yet another cat at such a vulnerable time,
especially if this killing wasn't a one-off incident. but on the other paw, if
they thought there was a killer among them, they'd be too busy accusing fa
each other and distrusting everyone they knew. if they got rid of whatever
cat they suspected, then they would have one less cat, but they'd be stronger
overall. mil
coalstar sighed. "okay. we will take a vote. everyone say the name of the cat
who you think is the killer and the cat with the most votes will be exiled."
despite the previous commotion, few actually stuck to their guns and y
made an accusation. i n

skyheart had already been feeling distraught. she had woken up to see
the limp bodies of her two sisters piled on top of each other like prey in
the fresh-kill pile. but things only took a turn for the worse when she heard
her own clanmates begin to call out her name. one
they thought that she had murdered her own sisters.
they thought that she was the one who had left those dreadful, gaping
holes in her sisters' necks and sucked them dry. ni

sure, it was strange that her two sisters had died and she had survived,
but she would never do such a thing. imp
there was reason for suspicion, sure, but there was no motivation. she r
loved her sisters, and she would never kill an enemy cat, let alone her
own siblings. ess

coalstar nodded slightly and told skyheart to go. tears streamed down
her face, but in the end she left without a fight. ive.

in the end, she found herself at the twolegplace, where a kind twoleg
took her in.

a cat awoke silently and padded out into the center of camp.
while it was still early enough into leaf-fall that most of the trees still
had their leaves, snow had fallen the night before, coating the world in
a quiet white blanket thick enough to submerge the cat's paws as they
walked. they approached a smaller, near-empty den, and slipped inside.
they knew that the snow would dampen the sound of anything that they
did, but they wouldn't be able to bring their victim outside - and they we
definitely wouldn't be able to bring the corpse back - since coalstar e
had enforced much more strict guarding of the camp's entrance.
they'd have to settle for just killing him quickly and quietly, then. right
here, out of sight, and before he woke up to be able to scream or l l t
struggle. ha t
shame. that was their favorite part.w
they licked their lips, bared their fangs, and then got right to work.
their teeth sunk into warm flesh, filling their mouth with the salty a s b
taste of blood. they sucked him dry, until he looked thin and frail.
they licked their lips and groomed themselves, removing any o
evidence. r i
satisfied, they went back to their den and went back to sleep.
when everyone awoke the next morning, after days without any n
more deaths, they were sure that skyheart had been their killer. g.
little did they know that quailgaze's dead body lay limp and
alone in the nursery.

Darkpaw yawned as he awoke, blinking his eyes. Getting to his paws, he shook off any bedding stuck to him and trotted out into the clearing. Noticing he was up first, he decided to visit Quailgaze, wondering how she was doing. Upon reaching the den, he stopped smelling the scent of blood. Not again, he thought, quickly pushing through the entrance of the nursery and seeing what he feared. He yowled for Cloudwatcher and Coalstar, his tail flicking with annoyance.
