Mossbrook was panting softly with sadness and urgency in her eyes, ears back now that the apprentice was gone. “Smokenose is dead, his body is resting in the medicine den. Wildpaw says he has starved to death. In addition a few apprentices seem to be missing, notably Foxpaw. I believe I saw Bramblestream running out to find the missing apprentices, I was tending to Sunfur so I’ve only heard bits and pieces.” She said, trying to keep a brave face in front of her leader as her eyes were cast down onto the moss at her paws. “What do you want us to do? Wildpaw is quite upset, I’ve sent her to keep the elder company for now but I’m afraid she might try and take things into her own paws.” She said, looking back at the pair, knowing fully well that’s what she would have done as an apprentice and was itching to do now. Her young age made her more impulsive but still she managed to have enough sense to at least alert the leader first.

The ancient head of Sunfur rose at the apprentices question, head turning towards her and eyes seeming to see right through her. “That’s something we all must find the answer to on our own. For myself I put my faith in Starpack, that we are needed there. Even the omegas are needed in Starpack I believe. One day we will all be reunited with each other, old enemies and friends alike, united in Starpack. That’s why you should always treat your enemies as you would your friend in battle.” His voice trailing off as his mind began to wander, the trauma of his past and fading mind making him prone to doing so. “Back when I was in my prime I prided myself and still do in never permanently injuring anyone, be they rogue or enemy pack member alike. I was one of the greatest warriors Riverpack has ever seen. The key to being a respected warrior is knowing when to stop and shedding as little blood as possible. Use your weight and size to your advantage in battle....” he said blinking a few times before staring off the other direction. “What was I saying? Oh, it’s gotten dark, I can’t even see my own two paws. We should get to bed young one.” He said, slipping further as he turned to Wildpaw. “Get some rest now, I’ll take you hunting when the sun rises.” He said with his big goofy grin, believing he was a warrior again with an apprentice of his own.
