Sagepaw tilted his head and chuckled, settling down into a relaxed postion, "I can't wait!" though when Opalpaw mentioned the lack of cats as well his previous interrupted worry began to grow, "Yes, actually, it's around sunhigh, and you slept in- and I know at least one of the patrols is back. I was looking for Cedarshine and no-ones seen her I guess. Er-! Not that Reedstrike isn't good enough for advice!" he quickly stammered, embarrassed at his fumbling words. Sagepaw wanted to explain further, his mouth open, but he quickly clamped his muzzle shut, ears hot. 'Why do I have to screw everything up? Opalpaw was being so nice and easy-going, and I have to get my tail in a twist-!' the sandy colored tom groaned inwardly, kneading his claws into the sand to release his pent up anxiety.

Bearfluff had enough of waiting and quickly called out some names, "Stagpaw, Silvertail, and Jaggedpaw! we're going to go on a quick patrol of the territory to see if we can find Hollowmoon, Foxwhisper, or Nettlepaw. I haven't seen them this morning and I'm a little concerned. Once we're done looking we can train together as a group, sound good?" his deep mew reverberated through camp, and he realized too late that this could cause panic to spread through the remaining cats. Bearfluff waited for his apprentice and the other two cats, itching to head out and find these cats to ease his worrying.

...............beeflight was visibly shaken and worried when he saw his apprentice was gone. the anxiety was made worse when he heard other cats had gone missing. "lightningwolf, hello. i'm alone, yes. i heard that cats have been going missing-" beeflight padded around the den, trying to distract himself and concentrate on the positive. his apprentice was gone, lost. was it because of him? he never tried to be hard on her.

Thornbreeze allowed the waves to wash up around his paws. He was going to wake Tatteredpaw for an early patrol but Reedstrike seemed to already send them out. He closed his eyes, relaxing. When Tatteredpaw woke up he'd have the apprentice go catch the bird he let go of hunting the day before.

Stagpaw let his eyes wander around the camp and then to the entrance. Maybe the cats had just gone out on their own patrol? Bearfluff seemed to want to go out and look for the missing cats and Stagpaw wouldn't mind helping and doing a little bit of training. Worry tugged at his chest, what if something bad had happened to them? There was no sign of anything happening in camp... "What if we don't find them?" He asked more so to himself but loud enough for his mentor to hear.

Opalpaw threw her head back and groaned, “Ughh really? I’m so close to being made a warrior and I sleep in again? You guys must think I’m at total slacker!” she huffed, definitely feeling exasperated but more or less playing it up for the sake of being a bit dramatic. Still, not being able to tell day from night in the den was getting annoying. When Sagepaw started talking about talking to Cedarshine and then seemed to panic a bit, immediately defending Reedstrike she laughed, waving her paw in front of her until she felt Sagepaw and then gave the younger apprentice a friendly push. “Pfft, Don’t get your tail in a twist, I know what your up to.” She purred knowingly, dropping her voice a bit before continuing, “I used to go to other warriors all the time for advice to try and impress Mudfoot, he’s still wondering where I learned some moves!” Her whiskers bristled with amusement thinking about it. “Anyways,” She sat up and returned her voice to normal volume, “I can help look for her if you want? I’ve got nothing else to do until Mudfoot or Ripplestar tell me what’s next and it’s better than just waiting around.”

After a moment of staring at it, Redfur lay down as well and began tearing into the vole. Not quite as desperate as he had been the day before the loner took it slow, wanting to make the prey last as long as it possibly could. As he was eating he listened to what Fernsnap was saying about her clan and their codes. For the most part it sounded pretty generic, virtually every group of cats he’d come across had some sort of rule that involved protecting their borders, some harsher than others. When she began explaining how that had to do with him and her offer to bring him prey he paused in his eating and looked up at her, bemused but slightly smug expression on his face. “Heh, well that certainly sounds like a lovely ideal.” He meowed, noting for the first time that she seemed a bit embarrassed. Despite what she was saying he doubted that this code was the only reason. Not killing without reason was good and all but seriously injuring and releasing was not technically killing, well, not directly, and even if it was it could be argued that the reasoning was to protect prey and territory. Redfur tried to tell himself that he was being being to cynical and maybe she was right, maybe there really was a group of cats that considered even the lives of loners to be worth saving but it definitely seemed too good to be true. He looked at the bengal cat lying comfortably in front of him, the lighter brown parts of her pelt seeming almost firey in the direct sunlight. There was something very genuine about her. Redfur sighed, defeated. He might not understand Fernsnap or her way of life but like it on not he did trust her. It was hard to admit that his life wasn’t in his paws but she was right, he without the use of his forelimb there was little hoped he’d be able to catch prey. Still, that was a lot of pressure to but on a stranger and when she mentioned going without to take care of him he shook his head firmly. “Yah, no. No starving yourself for my sake. I-... I’ll admit I need help, ok? What your offering, it’s - it’s more than I thought anyone would be willing to do for a loner like me. But I don’t want you having to go hungry either, I’m not worth that.” He stood up, feeling more than a little awkward at the outburst. He noticed her tail starting to twitch and sighed. “You probably need to get going back now, don’t you?” He meowed, actually feeling a bit regretful to be losing the company. It had been nice just relax with someone, even if it had been for a short while.

It seemed almost sad to Fernsnap that she had to leave. Sure, her clan was her family but Redfur seemed different somehow. With a slow sigh she answered, "I have an apprentice back in camp that I've been neglecting." Fernsnap got to her paws and stretched out her limbs for the trek back to the shore clan camp to fetch Softpaw. She wasn't sure when she'd be able to come back to feed Redfur again but she hoped it wouldn't be too long. "I might try to be back tomorrow morning if you can meet me here," she said with a small smile. "No promises though, I've always got a lot to do at home," she purred, amused. If it had been up to Fernsnap she would've stayed there for an entire moon. She wanted to know more about this loner's life. So far it didn't seem glorious but she couldn't help being curious. "I'll see you later," she said but her paws wouldn't move. She really didn't want to go home. Was that bad?

Silvertail pricked his ears at the call of the deputy. He couldn't say that he had noticed the missing cats. Bearfluff obviously thought something had happened if they were all going out searching. Silvertail couldn't imagine what would have made several clan cats disappear. Alas, he made his way over to Bearfluff with Jaggedpaw in tow. "Let's go," he said, ready to get moving. He didn't think they'd find anything out in the forest but he had been wrong before. Once or twice.

He narrowed his eyes lightly as the medicine cat talked "I still think there could be some reason why there not here, they can't just disappear, can they? and I don't see any reason for some of the cats just to leave the camp or whatever" he meowed turning to see the camp clearing.

She groomed her pelt, waiting for the patrols to start or come back, whatever did happen when she was still into her warm nest sleeping. Shaking her pelt she looked over to the apprentice's den when most of the younger cats walked out of there, but her own was not one of them, again 'I hope she is not making this a hobby?' she thought sighing.

Sagepaw grunted and rolled onto his side when Opalpaw gave him a friendly shove, and he mrowed softly, laughing, "Yeah yeah you caught me.. I just don't wanna disappoint him, is all. It just feels like I need to try harder since he's the deputy, you know.." he admitted softly. Though the siamese point tom perked up at her suggestion to look. "That would be great! Reedstrike is busy with Ripplestar anyway, so we have time." he stood up and flicked his long tail, anxious to get going before either of them were needed by their mentors. "Where do you think we should look first? I know she likes to hunt for fish, but she usually goes out early and gets back by sunhigh." he circled the she cat so he was barely brushing against her side. He knew she was capable of walking around their territory, he just wanted to be their in case she stumbled.

Bearfluff held back a sigh, and shook his head slowly, "I don't plan on not finding them, so I guess we'll just have to figure that out when we get to it." the large tom's voice was laced with concern, an unusual emotion for the deputy to portray openly. "But don't worry, I'm sure Nettlepaw and the rest are ok." he turned to Silvertail with a grateful nod, "Sorry to be taking time out of your training day, but four cats are better than two, and Stagpaw could use some practice fighting in a pair." Bearfluff shook out his pelt before giving the cats behind him one last look and padding out of camp, his ears twitching at every little noise, and his mouth agape, searching for the scents of his clanmates. He started by following the east border, and when there was no sign of any of the missing cats he led the patrol to the neutral woods territory. To his dismay there were only stale patrol cat, so he paused to give them a break. "This doesn't look good-" he murmured, eye wandering to search for any sign of life amidst the brush and trees. "I suppose we can look along the shoreclan/Summitclan border and then train a bit. Who knows, we may get back to camp and they've returned." Bearfluff tried to force his optimism, but it just made him sound even more doubtful.

Creamflower is eating a fish from the fresh-kill pile, savoring the delicious taste. As she scans the clearing, she notices that fewer cats were coming out of the dens than usual, wondering if some of them had to go out for something last night.

..............."maybe. but nettlepaw wouldn't just leave without telling me right? she's a very intelligent apprentice; she knows better!" beeflight padded to the den entrance and looked out, just like lightningwolf. he looked around and saw no cat in the clearing. he had heard of bearfluff and others going out to find them. "i need to find that patrol!" he sprinted off past the dens and as he neared the edge of summitclan camp's border, a scent of anxiety pierced him hard. whatever happened to nettlepaw, he would take full responsibility. if she would be hurt, he would take it to heart and blame himself. it is net even his fault. beeflight won't forgive himself for her whatever bad happens to her.

She purred softly, knowing how the other apprentice felt. She understood what it was like to feel as though you have to try harder than everyone else. Her mentor might not be an important deputy, but he had been willing to take on an apprentice that most of the other warriors hadn’t wanted. Still, at least she never had to deal with other cats expecting her to be a protege or something like they probably did with the deputies apprentice, that must be terrible. “Well, If you ever need advice, I’ve got your back.” She meowed, “I might not be a senior warrior, but I’ve got a few tricks here and there that nobody would see coming!” The apprentice added a note of pride creeping into her voice. She could hear Sagepaw circling so she got up, “Hmm, ok then. We should probably check the warrior’s den real quick before we head out, if we can find her nest we can probably check the scent to see how long she’d been gone, if it seems like she left early this morning than we can check the shore to see if she’s fishing. How does that sound?” She asked. Just then she heard paw steps approaching and she stiffened, half expecting it to be one of their mentors. These steps were to light to be a warrior and she relaxed when she heard Tatteredpaw’s greeting. “Hey Tatteredpaw!” She meowed, “I guess camp does seem a bit quieter than usual… oh! You haven’t seen Cedarshine around have you?”

He gave a small smile, was that a note of reluctance he heard in her voice? It was almost as though she wanted to stay as much as he wanted her to. The smile grew a bit wider at the mention of an apprentice, picturing some young cat wandering around wondering where on earth their mentor was. It was startling to think that she could have actual responsibilities that she had put on hold just for him, a total stranger, just because he needed her help. “I’ll be here.” He confirmed, sitting back down and giving his chest a few awkward licks not knowing why her words disappointed him. Of course she couldn’t come by very often she had stuff to do, besides, she was already risking enough coming by once a day it had been silly to hope for any more than that. He sighed, looking back up at her, a bit surprised the warrior hadn’t started to leave yet. “Would… Would you like me to walk you to the border?” He asked, a rueful grin crossing his features as he added, “Don’t worry, I won’t try to cross it. I already learned that lesson.” Looking at her now it was hard to believe this was the same cat that had attacked him yesterday. The event's of the previous day felt far away, then he'd been desperate and alone, today he felt hopeful, like for the first time in a long time things might actually be ok.
