Setting down her glass, the young woman sighed. She looked up, across the table.
'This is only gonna be a one time thing, isn't it?'
The young man, in his uniform blue, shrugged his shoulders as he reached for the bill.
'Most likely, I'm afraid.'

--Three Years Ago--
Anyone walking down this particular street on this particular Sunday would have heard, albeit faintly, the cheers of the graduating class.
The hats had been thrown, the hugs exchanged, the plans hashed out with friends for that one last adventure before college. Everywhere you looked, the graduates were grouping up, unwilling to let this last moment of high school go just yet.
Except for one...
'Hey Ebony!! Ebony, where are you going?'
The young man laughed, even as he started pulling off his graduation gown. 'I have my interview, remember?'
His friend chuckled, slapping him on his back.
'Good luck getting into the academy!'
'I plan on it!' Ebony called back as he hopped into his car, waving to all of the others.
...or maybe Two.
'Oh baby I'm so proud of you!'
The young woman found herself smashed into a hug between her mother, aunt, and grandmother.
'Really mom, it's nothing!' She laughed, worming her way out from between them. 'So I graduated a year early; what's the big deal?'
Her mother smiled, eyes filling with tears as she looked at her daughter. 'Look at you; my little baby, all grown up.'
The girl rolled her eyes, trying to hide her smile. 'I thought we agreed no tears?'
'You're right, you're right. I'm sorry.'
'I'll catch you later, okay? I have to go!'
The girl turned, jogging off with her hat tassel flapping and an undetectable swagger in her step.
Life was finally starting.
Two lives to intersect; not for a while, no, not for a while.
A little bit of filler, but it will take off next time, I promise. :3
