The pets listed here have gaps in their rarity data which prevents them from being added to any rarity lists accurately. Before "recent rarity changes" threads, there wasn't anywhere to record the earlier updates so a lot of the data used is from general posts/screenshots found around the forum. If you have any information (especially links or screenshots with visible dates) regarding the original rarity tags of these pets or any changes they've had over the years, please let me know by posting on this thread!

Help fill in the blanks!
Searching through over a decade worth of rarity histories is a very time consuming task, so any help is hugely appreciated. All rarity data is recorded in a Google Spreadsheet which you can view here, and it also includes many more pets than the ones listed on this thread. Any pet's names that are coloured blue are missing data needed to prove their complete rarity change history; and the specific months that data is missing from are also coloured blue. This helps us narrow down the time frame we need to be searching within, and also helps make educated guesses on when that pet's rarity most likely changed by comparing its known rarity data to other pets with similar data.

The good ol' CS search function is an invaluable tool in finding old rarity data hidden across the whole site, whether it be mentioned in a text post or shown in an old screenshot. This function along with the Internet Archive/Wayback Machine are the best first steps to take when researching rarity histories.

After choosing the pet you want to find data on, type its name (see CS Wiki for pet name guides) into the search bar along with some helpful terms such as "rarity", "rare", "uncommon", etc. and sort the results in ascending order. You can also search using a pet's archive image URL, but only include the unique ID part of the URL, shown here in bold:

It usually helps to narrow down the search results to the "Adoptables" forum only. Be sure to only read posts from October 2009 or later as this is when rarity tags were first introduced. Any rarity mentions from before then are based on very old user-made rarity guides that we cannot use here as factual data. Also, save time by checking the Google Spreadsheet to see what time frame that pet is missing data from, otherwise you may find something we already have recorded!

If you are using the Wayback Machine, try searching for the pet's archive month first, and look for results from the time period we are missing data from. No luck? Try the same archive search but specify the pet's species, for example:
> Try searching "chickensmoothie.com/archive/2008/July/" first, then;
> Try "chickensmoothie.com/archive/2008/July/Dog"
Tip! If the pet you're looking for is part of a "litter" with other species (e.g. Hollyfox & Hollycat) you can also try searching under its littermate's species, as that pet will still show up.

This is just a small guide on possible research methods you can try, but there are many other ways to find information!
