Despite his best attempts to remain calm Sagepaw shrunk down, his ears flat against his head. 'This is Nettlepaw? Perhaps it'd be best if she stayed in Summitclan, I can't imagine she'd fit in being so bitter' He narrowed his eyes at Stagpaw and pulled a bur out of his shoulder fur. "I was trying to get a hare for Ripplestar. They don't cross your border often so I took the opportunity. It knew where it was safe, apparently, and I was too caught up in staying on it's tail to realize I had crossed your border." He shook out his pelt again, starting to move away. He could still smell it's faint earthy fear-scent, and it hadn't gone too far, most likely finding a burrow or holly bush to hide in. "Well- since it was on MY clan's territory first.." he faltered and grew quiet. Sagepaw needed to learn to hold his tongue, this tom was much larger than he was, though he quickly noted the injured paw and inwardly relaxed.

Bearfluff slowed and took a step closer to the medicine cat, "Good morning Spottedlily, have you found what you're looking for?" his mew was warm, he didn't mind her collecting herbs in their territory, they had plenty for leaf-bare. "If you're almost finished we can make sure you get safely across the border. I scented badger a few sun-highs ago, even though it may be gone I wouldn't want to risk Shoreclan's only source of healing getting harmed." He held an odd admiration and respect for the medicine cat. She spoke to their ancestors, and similar to him, she carried her past with pride and dignity. He hadn't known her before her injury, but the way she served her clan gave away no hint of regret.

indentWith very little hesitance did Heatflight become aware of a newer presence coming toward his person. It was Tinyseal! Though the two have not been in much verbal contact, Heatflight rather liked the smaller and younger cat. At the greeting, Heatflight gave a somewhat nervous smile and purr, curling his sand-covered tail near his paws.

The breeze is...really soothing. It looks calm enough for swimming as well." Heatflight's ear flicked and the smile grew wider. "Tide might rise soon, though."

indentWith no sign of Foxwhisper from a brief glance about camp, Birdpaw heaved a hefty sigh from their maw. Birdpaw has always been a bit impatient to get rolling with the day regardless if anyone else was. Although his mentor was never one they pushed their impatience toward. A fear-respect mix for the molly made Birdpaw's mindset and they were sure they would keep that until the day they die. With nothing much else to do, they settled down and started to groom their fur boredly, humming.

Stagpaw eyed the apprentice, "Surely your mentor would have taught you that once prey runs into another clans territory its theirs," he mewed, "You are the deputies apprentice after all..." he slowly started to quiet down, if Bearfluff found out about this there would be an even bigger problem between him and Reedstrike. He grunted, "since you are now on MY clans territory, I think its best you leave the prey, Summitclan cats will enjoy a hare."

rabbitstar froze after hearing the panicked queen words. rabbitstar rushed into the nursery with haste spotting the bodies of three unmoving kits. the leader held her breath as she nudged the three kittens with her nose. the three kits reeked with the smell of death, and posed no renaissance to her nudge. the large leader let out a shaky sigh as she left the den noticing that nettlepaw had made her way back to camp. rabbitstar tried to focus her gaze on cosmospetal and not on nettlepaw while she spoke. "cosmospetal... i believe that you are correct...." the leader informed the queen her head held low to the ground. rabbitstar's gaze turned to nettlepaw, and she lifted her head and cleared her throat. "nettlepaw, i want you to put the kits in the middle of camp. mask their scent, i don't want their scent to attrach any eagles.. again.." rabbitstar ordered, but the last part only came out as a murmur. even if it had been many moons since the death of nettlepaw's sibling. rabbitstar still hasn't gotten over the death of what could of been, her own kin if things had went differently with mapleglow. "i will hold a clan meeting shortly to announce the deaths of the poor kits." rabbitstar said while making her way toward the leader's rock.

Spottedlily lifted her head, ears twitching at the sound of bushes rustling nearby and turned to watch as Bearfluff and Lightningwolf of Summitclan padded into the clearing. Rising to her paws, surprisingly graceful for a cat with only three functional legs, she turned to face the two tomcats with a rueful smile. "Good morning, Bearfluff. Lightningwolf. Yes, I suppose I have, though I assure you I can claw the nose off any badger that looks twice in my direction just fine," she said with a mrrrow of laughter and a flick of her tail. "How is prey running with Summitclan these days?" She asked conversationally, scraping her herbs together and deftly wrapping them in a dock leaf for easy transport. "Is that grumpy furball of a medicine cat treating Nettlepaw well?"

Pixiepaw made a great show of moaning and groaning in protest but finally heaved herself to her paws and shook out her calico pelt. Flicking her tail irritatedly, the small she-cat stomped out of the den, squinting her eyes against the harsh sunlight outside. Sitting down, she ran her tongue rapidly over her pelt a few times to dislodge some of the leftover moss clinging to her fur before looking up and fixing her mentor and friend with a half-hearted glare that had no real heat behind it. "I am not being lazy, I'm tired. There's a difference," she sniffed haughtily.

The tom was about to respond to the other cat when he heard a thud on the sand and a gasp of pain from not far away. Frowning, Tinyseal turned his head and saw that it was Bluevine, another pregnant queen that shared the nursery with him. He hurried over and glanced down at her, sniffing her belly. "Are you okay? What happened? Do you need a medicine cat?" the caregiver asked and peeked back at Heatflight.

Before the medicine cat apprentice could assess the kits, Rabbitstar deemed them already dead and gave a solemn look to the queen. At the leader's words, Nettlepaw couldn't help but flinch. She didn't have a very vivid memory of Thornkit... but for a time, he was the only family member that understood her and didn't worry about all of the drama around them. The she-cat picked up the three kits gently, carrying them out of the nursery and into the middle of camp. Both the stench and the emotions caused her eyes to water. Stop being so stupid... they were already dead, and you didn't have the skills to save them, she told herself as she set them down and began burying a hole for them.

Creamflower hears Ryebelly's question and thinks for a minute before answering. "So far good!" she said. "How has your retirement been so far? Full of rest and relaxation?"

The siamese mix held back a snarl and glared at Stagpaw. Though his face gave away no rage, only worry. Reedstrike's going to be so disappointed I left the patrol just to come back without the hare.. the next comment made his fur bristle, "I am the deputy's apprentice, and the only thing he's failed to teach me is just how janky Summitclan is." he spat back. Sagepaw was a reserved cat, but he wouldn't let a Summitclan cat talk down his mentor, especially when it was Bearfluff's apprentice. I'll just have to catch something else on my way back' He sent a silent plea up to Starclan before straightening himself out and flicking his tail in distaste at the other apprentice, "I'm sure they will. Good luck in catching it-" he added as he padded away, allowing himself an amused grin as he hinted coyly at the injured paw. Sagepaw's whiskers twitched as he scented for the point where his territory began. He'd have to be quick, and extremely careful if he were to catch something soon. It was sunhigh and the prey would be hiding soon. He scented many voles and a few birds, but none seemed sufficient in the moment. Then, a sudden salty familiar smell caught his attention and he dropped, sliding along the ground with his ears to the side of his head.

He crept through a small thicket and spotted what he was hoping for; a fairly large gull. To his delight, the bird's crisp grey wing was tainted red and limp, dragging on the dusty ground. Sagepaw instantly coiled his muscles and sprang forward, killing it swiftly. Thank you starclan! He held his prey gingerly, these birds were tricky to catch, as not many cats in the clans were good jumpers. He quickly caught his mentors scent and followed it for some time, and his neck ached before long. He realized it was leading towards camp, so he veered left and took a shortcut through some brush. He spotted his mentor's fiery coat quickly and trotted over, "Reedstrike! The hare managed to cross onto Summitclan territory before I could reach it, but managed to get this." he hoped this was just as well, his legs were still slightly shaking from his confrontation with the two apprentices. He'd never spoken like that to another cat before and he felt dizzy, eager to get a chance to sit and let his adrenaline fade. "I hope Ripplestar likes this-" he added, eyeing the plump sea bird.

Bearfluff chuckled at the medicine cat's confident reply, "No doubt, I wouldn't want to be on your bad side either." he nodded slowly, "It's good actually - for being so close to leaf-bare, hopefully we have the same luck once the first frost hits." He hesitated, but grinned and answered back with, "His elderly personality is starting to rub off on her, unfortunately, but she's an amazing apprentice and doing so well. Ripplestar would be proud..." Bearfluff felt he should say more, but quickly grew uncomfortable, "I can help you carry some of those herbs, there's quite a few here- are Shoreclan's supplies running low?" he observed, changing the subject, but after he noted this he grew worried, "If your clan's supply is too low for leaf-bare our herb garden is healthy and plentiful right now." his short tail flicked as he glanced at Spottedlily, slightly embarrassed. I'm hovering again. Shoreclan's prosperity is none of my business.

Reedstrike perked as Sagepaw bounded back toward him, carrying a large gull in toll. He smiled proudly toward his apprentice, "Well done! I haven't seen a gull that big in forever!" he told him proudly. "Ripplestar will love it." he added reassuringly, turning to scent the air. He perked as a distant Summitclan scent drifted into his nose. Perhaps it was the apprentices Sagepaw spoke about? Either way he wanted to go about the border just incase. Bearfluff's words had relieved him and unsettled him at the same time, but it still didn't change how he felt about them. "I want to check the border further, and then I promise we'll go see Ripplestar." he told his apprentice as he trailed down the border a little father. Finding the Summitclan scent to get stronger, he lifted his head to find none other than Summitclan's medicine cat, Beeflight. "Hello, Beeflight. Collecting herbs?" Unlike warriors, medicine cats didnt bother him as much.

Hornetpaw nodded his head, watching the apprentice leave. He shook his head softly before he paced around the camp, waiting for Antdusk to return from the patrol. Geez, they're taking forever! How long did it take to check a border? The young apprentice stretched as he peeked his head out of the camp entrance impatiently.
