Atlanta Hunter
Commander of the Phoenix Squad
Tags: Keelan, rest of squad

The commander smiled fondly at the squad's antics. For all their smiles, the Phoenix Squad was a force to be reckoned with. Each one of them was a flame, and Atlanta refused to douse it through authoritarian strictness. Instead, she would gently stoke the embers with patience and understanding, until they grew into the inferno that would burn away Delra's tyranny. The best thing Atlanta could do was believe in them.
The teams had organized themselves well. Although they'd separated from Team Omega, Atlanta felt no need to worry about them. She trusted them, from carefree Scorch and good-natured Albin, to wise Cassiopeia and thoughtful Caleb.
When Keelan approached her, Atlanta gave her an encouraging smile. "Oh no, you're not a bother at all! Your power can help us a great deal," said the commander. "Because you can turn invisible, you'll be the last person Alastair notices. That means even if he dodges everyone else, you still have hope of catching him. Especially if you hide until he's within arm's reach."
Atlanta placed a hand on the girl's shoulder, looking into her eyes. The commander wore a bright smile of determined conviction. "I believe in you, okay Keels? No matter how this mission goes down."

As Caleb mentioned being fashionable, a huge grin formed on Ardai's face. He was about to start raving about his cute skirt and stylish boots, but... something stopped him. Although Caleb spoke in quiet tones, his voice still echoed through the silent white halls. Ardai decided that screaming was against the rules.
Caleb suggested some convenience stores, which was slightly disappointing compared to the fancy cuisine Ardai had envisioned. Oh well. The prankster was self-aware enough to realize his own stupidity, so he trusted the others' judgement more than his own. Albin and Scorch seemed to be eager to leave the station, and Ardai couldn't help but agree. Cassiopeia seemed concerned about something and the prankster didn't blame her. The redhead gave a reassuring smile to Albin before speaking up.
"Cmon guys, let's get out of here. You too, Cassi!" Ardai didn't want to leave the blind psychic behind in his excitement to get out. "This place is weird."

When they finally reached the ornately decorated doors that led outside, it took all of Ardai's willpower to walk through calmly. Once outside, his eyes widened at the great marble city. The white buildings were decorated by assorted greenery and intricate carvings, standing tall above pristine streets. A few greyscale-clad pedestrians strolled by before stopping by a building, where one elegantly-dressed Onetian held the door for the others. The cars that hummed down the street were almost silent, seeming to float along the pale road.
It seemed beautiful at a glance... but it was all too quiet. Creepy, just like the deathly silence inside the station. Ardai felt chills crawling up his back.
"Yeah, this ain't Fivana..." He chuckled nervously, looking to the rest of Team Omega.

⋯⋯⋯⋯ ❄️⋯⋯⋯⋯
Brenn Lucast a
Location: Oneta Tags: Team Alpha, Team Beta, specifically Quinn and Gavotte
⋯⋯⋯⋯❄️⋯⋯⋯⋯

After a good night’s sleep and a great number of hugs from Onyx, Brenn had mostly recovered from the ordeal of their first mission. Now he could worry about the mission they were heading to now. It had been a fair shock to him to find out that the ‘important mission’ Atlanta had referred to was capturing the Prince of Delra. It wasn’t exactly what the ice-wielder had expected from his second ever mission but he supposed the rebels living underground had waited 18 years for the Phoenix Squad to be ready to free Delra, Brenn could hardly expect them to wait until he was no longer terrified.
As they journeyed towards Oneta on the train, the young rebels organised themselves into groups. Alpha to attack, Beta to capture and Omega to help smuggle the Prince away. Fear of this royal with some unknown power guided him towards Team Omega but, as usual, his mother’s lessons rang in his mind as if she were next to him. “A true and honourable rebel can always be found at the front lines. You must never hide away behind their comrades. Be happy to face danger, my little fireballs, knowing that you’ll be helping to save Delra.” Brenn sighed and steeled himself to join team Alpha before recalling something else from his lesson that day. His father was a Fivanian, but though happy to talk non-stop Aiden Lucasta shied away from conflict. Though it was always clear that he disapproved of Ceri teaching their two young children the way of ‘a true and honourable rebel’ he rarely spoke up against it, but that lesson he had disagreed. ”They’re not going to be saving anyone if they go where they’re not helpful.” He’d told their mother, sounding frustrated. Turning to Brenn and Seren he continued to speak, more gently. ”Don’t go charging in without thinking, find the place you can be of most use and stay there. If you know your strengths and your limits you can help no matter how far from the danger you are.”

It was a lesson his mother never did learn. Had she listened perhaps she wouldn’t have ended with her head on the chopping block, but now it brought Brenn to think carefully. He was pitiful at melee fighting and hardly particularly intimidating but his ice-powers would hardly do much to help smuggle the Prince onto a train. No, it would have to be Team Beta. Gavotte had chosen the same, and Brenn's was always happy to work alongside the patient water-bender. Their complementary powers made them an excellent battling duo. He was glad to hear Onyx would also be joining them, Brenn trusted his acrobat friend with his life and would unthinkingly defend them with it too.

They arrived at the station, and once again Brenn was in awe. Oneta was starkly different from Fivana, all white marble and peace where he’d previously seen bright neon light and excitement. It was no less beautiful, if perhaps a little boring, although without the linking heritage he didn't feel that same connection as he had with Fivana. The silence was all-encompassing and he winced at the sounds of his feet hitting the pale stone as he stepped off the train. He had accepted the power-cancelling handcuffs gingerly, both intrigued and terrified by them, and hung them from his belt. It was strange to think that something so ordinary looking could entirely prevent someone from using their ability, Brenn could barely imagine not being able to use his powers over ice.

When they had moved to the heavily forested area by the train tracks and Atlanta pulled the map out again Brenn wrinkled his nose up. They were the sort of directions that would help someone remember a previous-travelled route, not help a bunch of teenaged rebels find a place they hadn't been aware existed until a few hours ago. Remembering the steps wouldn't be a problem but spotting the features those stages referenced certainly would. It seemed that he wasn't the only one to be concerned about this. Quinn was already raising the issue with the commander and someone else had already had another idea. The frown on his face switched to a smile when he heard Gavotte's suggestion.
"That's smart!" Brenn moved over to join the rest of team beta after one quick final glance at the map. "That way, we'll at least know we're going in the right direction."
Quinn's further querying revealed that Gavotte couldn't yet sense the mass of water that would be the waterfall but Brenn was no longer so worried.
"We should at least be able to make it that far with the map's directions. It's not completely useless." Really, he should have been grateful to have the challenge of actually finding Alastair's sanctuary. At least they could focus on that, rather than the terrifying prospect of battling and capturing the crown Prince of Delra with some unknown, but probably powerful, ability.
When Onyx momentarily joined them to announce that they should probably be the one to cuff the Prince, Brenn nodded sincerely. He knew exactly what his friend could do and it wasn't hard to imagine them dropping out of the sky onto the Prince's head but before he was able to voice his support they had already wandered off to play with Theo's shadow cat. Brenn laughed to himself before turning back to Quinn and Gavotte.
"That's definitely be one way for us to get the jump on the Prince of Delra." He pointed out before making a suggestion for his own role, whilst readying himself to walk further into these woods. "I could maybe hide off to one side and try and freeze him slightly? Slow him down a little?"

Rose Sunshine-Lesbian-Twodor- Talking To Anmials- Team Beta

Rose had dressed in dark forest colors, planning to join team beta in the woods. She would be the best use there plus if she listened to the animals she had a feeling she might be able to keep an ear on all of the group. Rose got off the train and stood near Gav. She listened to the leader speak and couldn’t help but watch her too closely at times, she had had a crush on her for a while. She was calmer knowing her friend was with her and she trusted the group heading off into the city to stay safe. It was the rest of the team that might need her. Gav and her where the parents of the group thats for sure. Rose fell in step with the group as they headed off into the woods. She was oddly quiet as she watched her friend focus on searching for the water fall. She couldn’t help but glance around at the group.

Leon Nightstaker-Pansexal- Ninon-Light Bending Team Alpha

It was a no brainer for Leo to join Alpha, with his lights he could shift the direction the prince had to travel to avoid being blinded and if all else failed he could temporarily blind him with the flashes. Leo had dressed in dark browns, the only color was the golden band with the rainbow prism, he wore under the selves of his shirt it would come in handy as a boost to his powers . He didn’t say much just fell in with the commander.

Calypso // f // 19 // Lesbian // Fae, enhanced senses // x
xxxxCalypso ruffled her wings, the seats on this bus were certainly not made for the winged. Her large, feathered black wings ached against the small hard backing, and she nearly leapt out of her seat and spread them to their full wingspan, but instead, she just adjusted them and huffed to herself. The sooner this prince is in our grasp the better Calypso thought to herself, feeling the cutlasses strapped to the inside of her wings weighing them down. Killing him would be so easy, why keep him alive? Ransom? As much as she'd like to strip the princeling into ribbons, she had to admit, random was the better idea. Calypso overheard Arys's logically shrouded complaints about having to shift in order to complete their mission.
xxxx"Nah, you don't gotta be a wolf to scare someone, you could just growl at him and poke something sharp at 'em. If he still ain't scared of ya then, then yes, turn into a giant wolf and really make him wet his pants. You can't just waltz up to him as a wolf already, that spoils the fun of scaring the little princeling," Calypso draws with a toothy grin.

Cassiopeia // f // 18 // bi // future sight, empath // blind // x
xxxxCassiopeia could feel the roiling emotion spilling off of Ardai, the ominous aura of this place was not lost on him it seems. "You feel it too," Cassiopeia states knowingly, turning her head towards the churning emotions she felt- although a little off the mark. Tholomew, sensing her wishes, nudges her with his beak towards Ardai's direction, allowing her stride towards him and whisper, "The dead walk here, countless spirits. Angry, spirits. Do not worry though," She pauses, her lips upturning in a small grin "They are weak, harmless, just brooding and furious. But still, harmless. For now."

Quinn was a bit surprised to see the commander give him a reassuring smile, he was used to getting into trouble with Ardai so it kind of threw him off. Sure he was boisterous and loud and a bit overbearing sometimes but it seemed for this mission he was doing something right at least. He felt some measure of relief when she informed him that she hadn't been offended and in fact seemed to agree with him. Given her gesture to the map it seemed she had some similar thoughts to their situation that he did. The map itself wasn't well drawn and the landmarks given where all but useless. His mind was drawn away from his musings when Gavotte smiled at him as well. It seemed that there were smiles going around today, that or for some reason he was doing something right instead of wrong for once. He would have to boast about this to Ardai later on. Giving the brunette a bright grin in return he listened to them. It seemed that the other hadn't expected him to respond to them or really acknowledge them. Which wasn't to shocking, Gav had a small voice and tended to be on the quieter side so he could understand why him speaking up had been appreciated. It hadn't actually been his intention but he wasn't about to say anything about it. All the good credit he could get he would take. Watching the water bender quietly he could almost feel how Gav was focusing. Unfortunately it seemed that they were too far away fro Gav to sense the water. It wasn't really shocking since they still had to travel quite a bit but it was still a bit sad. Not that he was disappointed in Gav's abilities it was completely understandable.

"That's chill Gav, I'm sure as we get closer you will sense it. Speaking of which do we have everyone? We should move out soon. The sooner we move out the sooner we get to the objective" he said confidently. He was being a bit to cocky right now, perhaps it was the fact that the last mission had been a success. At the sound of Brenn laughing he tilted his head slightly and offered the other a blinding grin, one that slightly lacked it's usual pzazz though it was mostly due to his lack of accessories. He then followed Brenn's gaze to the shadowy cat that Theo had conjured up. It was an interesting power but he hadn't ever really seen it in action, mostly because he stayed away from the angry girl. His gaze flickered back to Brenn when the other started to suggest a role for themselves. A completely reasonable one to, to freeze the prince to slow them down would be very helpful. "Sounds brilliant! If you can slow him down it will make catching him so much easier. Now all I have to do is make sure that he is actually headed in the right direction" he chirped a bit too cheerfully. To an outsider it might look like he wasn't taking this whole situation seriously which was far from the truth. He was being as serious about this as he could which unfortunately didn't translate very well with his loud confident personality. With that he glanced around a the others it seemed that might have gotten everyone so he peered at the commander. "So commander we good to head out?" he inquired.

//Keelan-Rose Major//

Keelan breathed a sigh of relief when the commander reassured her. She thanks her, barely above a whisper. "I'll do that, thank you. I can wait at the back, and if the team needs help, I'll go to the front," she says, the last part mostly to herself. Without waiting for Atlanta to reply, Keelan walks away, and over to the other people on her team. She sees Rose and rushes over to her. "Hello, I’ve spoken to you before, at headquarters, right?” Keelan’s voice is almost at a whisper, but she’s a lot more confident after the pep talk with Atlanta. Keelan smiles at Rose, and without waiting for an answer, continues speaking. “Which team are you on, Alpha or Beta? I’m on Beta,” she asks, wanting for a response.

"The...dead?" He turned at Cassi's words, fear trickling through him. Ghosts were not something he like the idea of. Nervous, he rested his hand on Ardai's shoulder, unintentionally causing a somewhat strong breeze the billow past them. He already disliked being here, but the idea of possibly dangerous spirits made his skin crawl.

Robin hurried after the rest of team beta, her own plan formulating.
"I should be able to stay hidden once we pick a place of ambush. I could give some kind of signal when the time is right, if that sounds good." She offered. Considering she could, quite literally, hide in plain sight, it wouldn't be too much of a struggle for her to keep an eye on the price-to-be-caught.
"Quinn's right. Don't worry. And I'm pretty sure we're all here." Robin added, looking around at the rest of the group. From what she could see, everyone was there.

Caleb Oxenbera——————————
♠︎ // Phoenix Squad Recruit // Beast Summoning // Tags: team omega

Caleb silently listened to the inputs from the rest of his team members, also feeling the tension in the air. Oneta was known for a strict sort of cleanliness, and even though the calmer attitudes matched his own he couldn’t help but be uneasy himself. Additionally, even though he enjoyed the quiet himself, he was far more used to the background chatting of the Phoenix squad back at the base. Even if the space was cramped it at least felt like home.

Teal eyes shifted over to Scorch and Cassiopeia as the future-seer spoke up. Her words were ominous, but Caleb felt no concern or judgement. After all, with the absence of his own family the entire Phoenix squad had pretty much filled that role. Plus he had been adopted by the leader of the uprising herself. In any case, even if some of his teammates saw him as a little too lawful, Caleb still thought of himself as an older brother. Probably a side effect from hanging out so much with Sycamore.

The boy’s eyes widened a little bit when Scorch agreed to his idea, fixing a small smile on his face in case anyone else looked his way. Ardai... didn’t seem all too eager to go to a convenience store however. The dark-haired recruit didn’t need Cass’ sight to predict this, but at least the troublemaker didn’t protest. “I’m a bit nervous to actually go into some of these places, honestly.” Caleb admitted once the group exited the train station and started looking around. Ah, but Cassiopeia might not be able to see everything... “Those people looked like they were dressed up for something nice, and all these buildings are very imposing.” He tried to describe it whilst not being too obvious what he was doing, but then changed the topic. “If we’d like, after we grab something to eat, we can bring it to one of the city’s green spaces?” The teen proposed. It would keep them out of trouble, and there would probably be less surveillance. Plus they might actually be able to talk about their plans.

As the group started walking, Caleb allowed himself to drift to the back of the group and used the others to guide his step as he closed his eyes. Instead of darkness, he was met with the sight the sparrow was seeing from its perch on Arys’ shoulder. It appeared as though the two other teams were still deciding how they would go about finding the prince.

The small bird cheeped, then examined the rest of the recruits. Perhaps Caleb should carefully plan who he sent the bird after? Someone on team beta would work well, but definitely not one of those intending to do a lot of action. As Caleb mulled over it in his mind, another teammate came into view. Rose! She would be the perfect candidate, especially since then she could actually understand anything Caleb said as the bird. The sparrow gave a gentle chirp in Arys’ direction as if to thank her before taking off to roost on Rose’s shoulder.

Onyx Carriado——————————
♣︎ // Phoenix Squad Recruit // Acrobat // Tags: team beta, Theodora

Onyx’s usual, unpredictable expression gave way to a small, genuine smile as Theodora spoke of the feline. “I guess this little guy will ease everyone’s nerves a bit before they go all panther, hm?” The recruit assumed, staring at the shadow and crouching down once it was put on ground level again. Onyx slowly outstretched their arm and held their palm face-up to let the cat smell them. “Ya know, I think a lot of your guys’ powers are cooler than mine are. Not that I don’t enjoy getting into places I shouldn’t be, it’s just nothing spectacular compared to summoning a freaking cat. Or Brenn’s ice.” Onyx slipped in the praise for their close friend in a slightly louder tone so he could hear them, something the acrobat would do pretty much any time they could.

As Robin spoke up, Onyx gave the cat one last stroke and then stood up to heir full height. “Hmm, I don’t think my ability could help much in the navigation, either. Unless someone wants me to climb up somewhere high and scout out from above.” They proposed to no one in particular. Personally, although climbing was fun, Onyx was still a little shaken up from their last mission. Before they had spoken to Keith the kid was pretty bent on doing whatever they could to defeat the chosen evil, and while they still agreed with their goal, the traitor had made some pretty arguable points. Besides, now that they thought about it, the team knew very little about Alastair himself. This only made Onyx feel more determined to be the one to cuff him. Maybe, then, Alastair wouldn’t judge the rebellion so harshly had someone meaning to hurt him had done it. Assuming Alastair wasn’t the tyrant his father was, of course...
