Strangers kissing in the pouring rain
Chasing after your leaving train
But we know that's not how our song goes
You're a waitress in a cocktail bar
And I'll save you cause I'm a big rock star
But we know that's not how our song goes
It goes like this...

"Well sir, here's your check. I do hope you enjoyed your meal this morning."
Checkers smiled softly as she placed the receipt upon the table at which the young man sat, beaming all the while. "Oh, yes thank you." Still speaking rather softly, he placed the credit card atop the receipt, which the young girl promptly took away, her hand gently brushing his by mistake. Her cheeks turned a crimson red, and she turned mumbling about being back in a moment. Her eyes were trained on the tile floor, but had she glanced at the young man, she would have realized that he was blushing a note as well.
In return, Pip sat in the leather booth, focusing with an intense gaze upon his half eaten bowl of soup. He hadn't felt this way in years. Ever since he had left high school, life had been plain. All though, maybe that wasn't the correct word to use when describing his lifestyle. He knew that the girl, Checkers, had quite a pretty face, but there was something special about her that made his heart flutter. But, that would mean... Ah, never mind.
Checkers returned a moment later, handing the young man his credit card. "Well, thank you for coming in today sir. Hope to see you around here again." She smirked, turning around and walking back into the kitchen before coming out with yet another tray of food for another family.
Pip left shortly afterward, having watched Checkers for a moment longer. He smiled as he left, knowing that he would be coming back sooner or later just to see the girl again. It's a shame he didn't realize how soon that would be.

-Seven Hours Later-
"Checkers, didn't you say that you had promised your friend to accompany her to the concert in town tonight?"
The diner was bustling as it so often was at night, and with a small, worried expression Checkers glanced at the clock. "Are you sure you can handle the crowd Sally? I really wouldn't mind missing the concert."
"No, no, you've already worked two shifts today. I won't have you working another. Now go on, get out! Go live a life like you're supposed to at your age." She spoke kindly, though with a humorous tone and she couldn't help but laugh at the sight of Checkers' smile.
"Well, thanks Sal. I guess I'll see you tomorrow."
Hanging up her apron, the young girl walked out of the diner, waving to the others before stepping on to her motorcycle and heading downtown for the concert. The concert hall was packed when she arrived, and it came as no true surprise, after all the band was incredibly popular. The funny thing was, when she walked in, she found herself grinning from ear to ear as the band stepped onto the stage. Funny thing was, the lead singer of her favorite band, was the man she had served breakfast that morning....
