Snowpaw saw the Windpack she dog and growled. “Why are you hunting on Shadowpack territory?” She asked, annoyed. “Don’t you have enough prey in your territory?” She added.

Birchpaw happily followed. Wow! A real deer! Won't the other apprentices be impressed with me! He thought to himself. He followed Flowerpetal, to where another dog that was pulling a dead deer across the forest. He muffled a wail of distress. That was our deer! How is anyone going to be impressed if we bring home a deer that was caught by some rouge?! He realized that the dog didn't smell like a rouge though. "Windpack!? Why is Windpack is stealing our deer?!" He burst out confused, and outraged at the same time. Windpack has plenty of prey in their territory why do they need to steal our food?

"No need to change your philosophy on my account, pup," she teased the old apprentice. She followed her to the site in question, but she pulled back while Snowpaw kept walking. Crouching down into the thick foliage, she watched the confrontation unfold. Even her beta and her own apprentice had arrived, which wasn't ideal for Snowpaw's test, but would be...interesting. She recognized the intruder as Cloudtuft, one of the youngest warriors of WindPack, whom she had teased at the Gathering for her obvious attraction to one of ShadowPack's warriors, Nightsight.

Her head whipped up from her catch as she heard several outraged voices. Before she could even see who they belonged to, she lowered her body slightly, wagging her tail a few times to signal that she hadn't come to threaten or challenge ShadowPack on their territory. She inhaled the scents of the newcomers. Around her were three dogs: The ShadowPack beta, Flowerpetal, a young male apprentice, and a young female apprentice that looked slightly younger than Cloudtuft herself. Hearing them all ask basically the same question, she said, "Actually, the deer comes from WindPack land. It wandered here. I didn't -" The young moor runner trailed off as she got a better look at the male apprentice. There was something hauntingly familiar about him.

She listened to her silently, lightly growling "I don't matter where that deer came from, you are not allowed to hunt in other packs territory...technically that deer belongs to us now" she said to the younger dog "Even a young warrior like you could know that much, or don't your pack care about the borderlines?" she keed saying.

She stopped when hearing Dawnpaw mumbling something "what?" she asked trying to get what she was saying "hm, yes, you're right, we have a trespasser, cool, isn't it? Shall we go to look what's going on there?" she said to the medicine dog.

Dawnpaw nodded, not feeling entirely confident. She could now hear dogs talking; more than one, and she could recognize Birchpaw's outraged protests. Well, he wouldn't sound like that if the pack dog was attacking, I guess... Dawnpaw began walking towards the commotion, but quietly. She was used to always being under the radar, being quiet and dutiful so no one noticed her, and this wasn't exactly going to do that. She tried to walk even slower, hoping Flarepaw would be the first one to arrive on the scene, when she nearly bumped into her leader, Velvetstar. Dawnpaw performed a quick, awkward sidestep through the foliage to avoid bumping into her and causing a scene. Staring at her paws, she mumbled, "I'm sorry, Velvetstar. I didn't see you there." Aaack, I hope she wasn't planning a surprise attack or something. Dawnpaw still couldn't see what was going on, as a ridiculously thick hollybush was staring smugly at her as she tried to see past it.

“Flowerpetal is right. I’d suggest you leave if you are no threat. The deer is ours since it is in our territory. Now please leave our territory. Go back to your own territory and never cross the boarder again.” Snowpaw was annoyed that Cloudtuft would do something dumb like come into Shadowpack territory. Especially alone. She growled, baring her teeth, hoping the Windpack she dog would get the hint and leave.

Birchpaw froze as he heard her voice. His eyes grew wide with disbelief and confusion. It can't be... He knew he recognized the voice from somewhere, but as he started to look her over he realized that he had never seen her before.Why?. His mouth suddenly went dry, and he found himself speechless as he realized he had heard her before, but not in real life. He hadn't completely forgotten about the dream that he had earlier in the day, and here it was again.

As he stepped over the border and into ShadowPack territory, Dunlinfur felt his hackles prickle. Knowing he was on ShadowPack land made him feel vulnerable and unsafe, but he steadied himself by taking a deep breath and reminding himself why he was here. Cloudtuft was missing and the only way he would get her back was to go after her. Besides, he was fairly confident that ShadowPack would have some respect for a Medicine Dog, and there was a decent chance he could be in and out without ever being noticed in the first place. This was simply not the time to be intimidated. He looked over at Songbreeze and shot her a comforting expression.
"It'll be fine."
With that, he lowered his nose to the ground, breathing the scent of his lost packmate deeply into his lungs and reminding himself of the trail he was set to follow. The going would be slower with all the trees and underbrush in the way, but for Cloudtuft's sake, pressing on was his only option.
"Stay close to me, Songbreeze. I'll take the lead from here. Best they see me first if we run into anyone."
Dunlinfur padded forward, traveling deeper into ShadowPack territory.

Songbreeze smiled shyly towards Dunlinfur, which was somewhat unusual for her. "Yes, that makes sense," she said nodding, her voice low. Should we try calling Cloudtuft? That would definitely bring Shadowpack to us. Is that better, or worse? Well, perhaps we shouldn't sneak around, like we're up to something. "I think we should just stay out in the open while we call her, so Shadowpack doesn't think we're snooping around. And, if they haven't found her yet, they would probably help us in looking." Well, 'help' may be a bit much. Search alongside us, hoping to be able to bite Cloudtuft before she leaves? 'Helping' us so that they can follow us and make sure we're not up to something? Songbreeze walked alongside Dunlinfur. Her scent was easy to pick out, as she had been constantly bumping and skidding into things. Also, her smell stuck out like a broken jaw, leaving a clear message; Windpack, you don't belong here.

The medicine dog hesitated as he considered Songbreeze's suggestion. She actually had a rather good idea. He was so focused on not getting "caught" that he had failed to consider what sneaking around would look like to a casual observer. Of course, he knew that his actions were justified, but ShadowPack probably would not see it that way.
Dunlinfur stopped walking and looked at the young warrior with the sheepish grin of someone who was about to admit they were wrong.
"I guess that's why you're the warrior here, Songbreeze. You plan sounds pretty good, actually. Let's just call for Cloudtuft, then? Take it slow?"
Though he agreed with her assessment of the situation, Dunlinfur waited to actually implement it. He was painfully aware of the precarious situation and he wanted to make sure that anything he did would make things better instead of worse. Songbreeze was clever, and it would be a great disservice to act without her input and consent, both to avoid thrusting her into danger, and to make sure he had considered all the options available to him, instead of only the ones he came up with.
