the year is 6012, the humans almost completely perished nearly 2000 years ago, only a few surviving, the year may as well be the 1800's everything has gone old fashion, except this time, there's no going forwards. there are small towns here and there, old and worn down, just like in the 1800's, money is hard to come by, cows, sheep, horses, they are all used to buy things, trading jewellery to buy things from places like general stores and gunsmiths if money is not available, yep, it really may as well be the 1800's. with no electricity, everything has gone backwards, back to horses and horse and carts being used as transport taking days if not weeks to get from one place to another. but, the humans are still a threat, for everyone knows there are good horses out there with good breeding, so, humans are still rounding up wild horses, but in the old fashion way, on horseback, using corrals and lane ways to get horses into them, breaking in horses and selling them to the highest bidder. over time 60% of the tame horse population became feral, escaping stables, properties, the other half, perishing with the humans. top show jumpers, dressage horses, eventers, ropers, camp drafters, barrel horses, top bred horses, low bred horses, thoroughbreds, warmbloods, standardbreds, quarterhorses, stock horses, arabians, clydesdales, you name it they all escaped. ranch's crumbled to almost nothing, some of even the strongest buildings demolished over the last few hundred years, the odd barn here and there still up and standing. over the last 1500 years animals began to flourish, buffalo coming in the hundreds, deer in the thousands and horse herds larger than ever. that also means predator populations have risen, bears, wolves, cougars, which means when the winter snow thaws and foals are born, the predators come out, bears are the least likely to come towards horses unless they are starving, preferring fish and berries, but wolf packs and cougars definitely will be a big threat.

dam. a belgian draft mare who was used for cart work on a large cattle farm who cropped hay, so she was a real working horse. she about 19 when she was put in foal to one of the best working belgian draft stallions from a few towns over. about 8 weeks into the pregnancy a storm brought down a tree onto her fence and she was stolen away by a wild mustang stallion. she foaled out in the wild but returned to the farm with athena. not wanting a non pedigree foal, and no real way to figure out if the filly was a pure belgian, the ranch hand tossed athena near where he last saw the herd and left her. athena was soon adopted by freyja who was also in the herd at the time and while they are no longer in the herd, athena has not left freyja's side.
