Why can’t totoro go trick or treating?

Totoro said here that she can't go trick or treating because Tess never went, and she's not allowed to go on her own, of course! It would just not be safe for one little birdie :D
Don't worry, though - she gets so much candy from us that it's almost more fun to see her candy hoard grow. If she went herself, she would never get this much candy to snack on, that's for sure :3 Isn't it nice to have so many friends who share their candy with you?

...That said, she does over-indulge on all the candy sometimes. Oops...
