hello everyone! ive got a 4 year old amstaff mix named alice. she’s the sweetest dog ive ever met, but ive been having some issues with her lately.
basically, she has
always been terrified of the ceiling fan. while i was out, my brother forgot this and turned it on. ever since, she has been terrified to come in the family room (where we usually are). she only wants to hide in small areas around the house. normally she’s been able to get over her fear, but it’s been five days and there’s been no progress. has anyone been through this/have any advice on how i can help her?
thank you!

So with Chloe being hairless and having allergies she often and easily scratches herself bloody. If it's not to warm in the house I can just put a turtleneck on her, otherwise I just use socks. Neither is a perfect solution and in frustrating I finally ordered some SoftPaws. They came today. I was hoping to distract her with a stuffed KONG and be able to put them on her myself but she was having none of it and I had to call in the reserves aka Mom. Once on her lap Chloe did that straight-legged thing (imagine a dog size fainting goat) and was able to get them on her relatively easily. The hardest part was getting the fur out of the way. I think I did okay for a first time.
She doesn't seemed bothered by them at all. I did find one sticking to her side I had to reapply but so far so good. I don't know how much they'll help with her scratching. Sometimes when she scratches her neck I'll rush over and scratch for her so she doesn't damage herself. The back leg keeps going though and her claws hurt my hand even though they aren't breaking my skin like they are hers. Already they're helping with that at least.
I opted for purple and black for Halloween and to celebrate my Dad's fave football team, the Ravens. Wish us luck.

I picked up my foster boy tonight so figured I’d introduce him! This is Merlin, he’s a very small Aussie who’s a absolute doll. Needs some training and socializing for sure but I’m super excited to see the dog he will become with some structured training and lots of socializing!

I don't really see husky in him at all, but I guess I could see lab. (Esp in the neck) Face reads very boxer or BBM to me. Used to seeing button ears in shelties and terriers, kind of funny to see it on a dog like this. Not sure I see SharPei in him either. A unique looking mutt but probably mixed beyond recognition to the point to where embark would mark him a high percent supermutt, tbh.
I have a hard time seeing anything besides feist in the puppy you shared, but she sure is a cutie. Needs those razors clipped though LOL I can only imagine how bad they hurt!
Glad to see some progress on Piper! I need to work harder on getting David out and about, he's continued to gain and I feel awful about it. It's so hard to motivate him to do a damn thing besides lay on the floor. Loki looks gorgeous as always, always look forward to pix of him. (: If you don't mind me asking, since you're an authority I trust on dachshunds, do you think 2 years is a good point to alter or would earlier be fine? I'm not super versed in how long small breeds need to fully mature.
Merlin is also suuper darling, I love his face. What a charmer! I'm sure you've got your work cut out for you, Middy. Looks like a mischief maker but such an adorable one.
