Writing/Art: Jo was often referred to as the “town mayor” of Badger Buddies Ranch. She was always very keen on the horses coming and going from the property, and would often call out to any new or visiting horses. If she saw trailers passing her field, she would often trot alongside them from within the fence, and then stand at the end of the fence line to get a good view of whoever would be unloaded. Any of the farm’s newer residents who needed a friend to be turned out with, Jo was a reliable pick to pair them with. She didn’t have a mean bone in her body, so there was no worry about any fights breaking out. Plus, she was energetic and playful, so she would often tire out the newest additions to the farm with her antics and games, helping them to relax and feel much calmer in their new surroundings.
It was a no brainer to bring Jo alongside some of the other horses to the Töfratré Event, as there was no worry over her adjusting or getting along with the many other horses being trailered in. This would be the first event she would be brought to since her racing career had ended, so everyone was very excited for her. This would be very different and much quieter than her days spent racing, and it was hoped that she would have a fun and relaxing time.
There were many other Euphorian Thoroughbreds brought to the wonderful event, but there were many horses of a very different breed. They were called Tolters, and had a funny but cute little gait that was unique to them. They all seemed very personable and happy. Jo had taken quite an interest in them, which was not surprising, but she was certainly more interested in these new horses rather than the other Euphorian Thoroughbreds.
One interesting looking Tolter was being led past Jo and the other Badger Buddies Ranch horses. He had a shiny tag on his halter that read “Artagon”. While the other horses continued to walk forward, Jo planted her feet, refusing to move past this stranger without saying hello. The two sniffed noses, and Jo softly nickered to Artagon before nudging him with her nose. It was clear that she was ready to play with her new friend, but he seemed less interested. He continued to be walked past the blue mare, which disappointed her. She planted her feet in protest. Her head hung low and her ears drooped down, looking slightly depressed. She eventually gave in and moved forward again to catch up with the rest of her herd.
She looked back at Artagon and gave a booming whinny, but unfortunately did not get a response back from the Tolter. It looked like Jo would need to look elsewhere during the event to find a new friend. Thankfully for her, there were plenty of other Tolters and Euphorian Thoroughbreds around the stables for her to meet and befriend.
