that sounds like cruelty against animals from your mom....

when you and your father are oon same side, just take the birds and put them into your room.

... till you find better new home or better place with you....like you can buy or even buid a nice big outside aviary with protection shelter house, so they can stay outside under a light roof and are protectedd from all season, get enough sunlight and shade and fresh air ..and are more calm and happy, as they got more space to fly and play aroud and more toys and green plants.

but you and you father Need to get them out as fast as possibe from this place bevor it is to late, birds Need specific Thing to live heakthy and happy...like 12h sunligh, fresh air, protection from draft, sun, heat, cold, bad air, Need good Food and water,, aso work for there intelligent minds and interact with each other and peple they like.

so you two work together and put the feet down, with animal protection, against your mother, take them out there, please, you are two and not alone, dont forget this and this animal cant talk and Show well how fearful and hurt they are..
Please klick them or they will die°°!!!

Hello fellow bird owners, this isn't my first time on the thread. I posted a few months back of the loss of my almost 12 week old albino budgie Snow (Snowflake). Snow had some unknown internal issues, as fellow siblings from the same clutch became unwell as well, since then the parents have been moved to a different aviary in case something in the other aviary was being passed from parents to chicks.

I am now again a bird owner, I own 2 budgies a blue and white spangle and a lutino. They are Bo (blue) and Jangle (lutino/yellow) named after the song Mr Bojangles as it was Snow's favorite song, I know it seems silly but the little feather fluff would always calm and chirp along to that song. Jangle is also Snows sibling hatched from the clutch that came after the one Snow hatched from, and Jangle is going strong, there was a couple of scares with Jangle but the fluff pulled through. Bo is an 'adoption' into the clutch Jangle hatched from, rescued from elsewhere.
I hand raised both of them from about 4 weeks, apparently Bo hatched before Jangle and is about a week older, so they share my Birthday as they hatched around then.
They are almost 5 months old now, and quite the characters, Jangle is gentle and Bo is feisty, but Jangle is the boss, Bo does what Jangle says or gets a boop to the tail feathers  They are friends though and Bo will regurgitate for Jangle, which I think has helped Jangle get stronger after the couple of scares.

I've tried introducing fruits and vegetables but they look at them and run away like they're going to attack. But I found a way, we have one of those Ninja blenders, my Mom makes fruit and vegetable juices, she gets rid of the unwanted bits/bits bad for birds, and the juices come out with a smoothie like consistency (no dairy), I pour a little into a shallow glass dish, add just a little water, and use the end of a bendable straw to stir, and they lick and drink the juice off the straw, and from the dish. So I'm really happy they're getting nutrients as well as a nice cool drink now the weather is warming up where I am. They also get seed an a pellet crumble.

I'm yet to upload photos and videos I have of them. For now I'll try to attach a pic or two.

@eyulf budgies are amazing birds and yours look very happy <3
sorry to hear about snow, but i'm glad that bo and jangle are doing well !! and you're right about them having favourite songs - i had a tiel (not a budgie, but i still think it proves a point lol) that would beep loudly and with a high pitch if he wanted a certain song on, and he would only stop his beeping when we turned it on so that he could sing along (or rather, sing his own version of it haha). i haven't had a budgie demand a song like that, but one of my two now relaxes significantly more when i play chillhop instrumentals. c:

How many birds do you own? ( if applicable ): just one, but i work with a lot of birds (animal educator and rehabilitator). technically zamir is not really a pet, but I very much love him like one.
How long have you had them?: About four years
What brings you to the bird chat?: just love to talk to people about zamir because he's such a large and fascinating part of my life )

zamir is a common raven that someone found in their yard. thinking that he was abandoned, the lady picked him up and tried to raise him. whether or not he was actually abandoned i cannot tell you, but i CAN say that you should ALWAYS contact wildlife control if you are concerned, NEVER try to handle or raise a wild animal. anyways, zamir was living in a small wire parrot cage and being fed a diet of wet cat food and the occasional worm or berry (not a sufficient diet). he had little to no enrichment and eventually, the lady (i'm not going to name her, obviously) was either tired of his loudness or actually decided that she wasn't taking good care of him and she ended up dumping him on a friend of mine (LICENSED). at the time, he had his hands full with another project so he asked if i could take the raven. i did, and i love it! he is NOT A PET and it is very easy to see why because compared to other birds, he is very loud and destructive. there are types of ravens/crows/etc that you can buy. if you ever want to own a corvid ALWAYS make sure it is legal because the laws are super picky, be prepared for screeches and weird noises and property destruction, be ready to handle the complex enrichment and diet needed, and do so so so much research! again, i know that common ravens are illegal to keep as pets in the united states. i know. i am aware. he is an education animal )

      hello there !

i posted here previously when my brother was looking into
owning a bird ,, although i wanted a pair of budgies , he
ended up getting a dove ,,

i’d love some tips of some sort ?? when i look anything up for
owning doves , there’s like , nothing compared to other birds
, such as parrots ,, especially when it comes to pinterest ,
a lot of toys and such are mainly based for parrots , or would
those also be alright for a dove ?

hnnn , i’m sorry to be a bother , thank you for your time , !!
      < 3

my good work buddy has a dove, and i've worked with quite a few. i don't personally own one though, so these are really just tidbits!
♡ doves don't climb cage bars, they fly back and forth to move
♡ because of the above fact, a wide cage is important!
♡ you should give your friend a variety of perches so that they have good feet
♡ they need to bathe! give them a water dish they can splash around in a bit (and be sure to clean it you know)
♡ they need grit!! also supplements like calcium are very good
♡ if you are planning on breeding at all, don't do it year-round. give them a break )
♡ don't be too rough. unlike some birds (parrots, etc) they're not a huge fan of hands-on time and you should be careful of breaking a wing
♡ however, they can be hand tamed. just be sure not to force it
♡ they can bite but i promise you it is not even close (at all) to a parrot or raven
♡ they're very social
♡ they coo! all the time!
♡ they are susceptible to red mites be decently careful
♡ if you house your friend outside, be aware of possible parasites
♡ wash your hands after handling/etc a dove (or any bird)
♡ my friends ringneck is super chill and likes to groom my hair a lot so if your dove learns to treat you like family or like a really close friend be ready for grooming or in-your-face affection

you seem to be a very good pet owner and i think that bo and jangle look very happy and healthy! i've come across several birds that couldn't be kept because they wouldn't eat their fruits and their owner was too lazy to work something out and then got confused when the birds started getting sick. kudos to you for your excellent birb care!

earlier today, my parents (living with them) saw a couple
baby magpies. one was dead and one was staying near it,
      mourning it i suppose.
they must of fallen out of the nest - they couldn't fly and
were very fluffy. we had a bonfire tonight and burnt the
dead bird as we were cleaning the garden.
if we find the other one (we have a lot of stray cats, pet
cats *not ours*, foxes, seagulls, etc. so i have my doubts
it will survive), what do we do with it?
i've heard people keeping them as pets, and whilst we
can definitely do that, is that the right thing to do?
      many thanks

please don't keep the magpie!! i understand that you are being kind and doing what you think is best but it is always better to contact your local wildlife control. mapies (and other corvids) are fascinating but difficult to care for and not only is it very possibly illegal where you live, corvid care is not something you should jump into without lots of prior bird experience. thank you so much for asking before you kept it!
and yes, it was probably mourning. they are very intelligent birds and are cognitively aware of death.

@Corvus, Thank you. I'm being really careful and trying to give as much variety as I can.

Poor Jangle, the fluff is a trooper, the little fluff has broken a few flight feathers so lift and flying is now difficult, I think the fluff gets a bit jealous of Bo who flies about like a humming bird. I'm just hoping the new feathers come though stronger, they're a few days off being about 5 months old, and though going through their first molt, I think it will be a little while until new flight feathers come in, Bo has lost two flight feathers naturally.

I call them 'Feather fluffs' or 'fluffs' because I'm not 100% sure of their gender, Bo I'm thinking is male as the cere has steadily gotten a darker blue, Jangle on the other hand has days where the cere can look pink, and other days a look a very faint pale blue. Bo also tends to bob and "dance" and beak bump Jangle, also why I'm leaning to Bo being male.

I did bedding washing today, my feather fluffs couldn't figure why their toys were on the floor, temporarily, though watched me curiously as I stripped the bed then remade it with fresh sheets, as soon as the cover went on and was all tucked in they flew onto the bed, then down to their toys, then back to the bed as I started setting the toys out on the bed, they then gleefully did their routine of "All toys on the bed belong on the floor!" I mean really how can two little birds toss selected toys of the day onto the floor if they're already there haha.

Okay so a note, I now again have two rooms for myself (family moved home, then moved away again) a big room and a smaller one, I was in progress of moving to the bigger room when I got the birds, which also has a big walk in closet joined to it. So the bigger room though my bedroom as my bed is in there is just that, I sleep in there, the rest of the space is for my birds, they're in the corner that doesn't get hot in summer, the window overlooks the back yard. There's nothing dangerous. The ceiling fan has had some stocking (pantyhose) socks put over the blades as it's old an the paint has started to chip off, they can't get to the paint and stocking socks get a ladder in them and are easy to tell if a hole is forming, if I notice a hole, a new stocking sock gets put on the blade, the ceiling fan will never be used, I have two tower fans for when the weather warms up.

My computer is in the smaller room, I can't have it in the bedroom with the birds, it'd be full of feathers if I did with their molting. I also get ready in the smaller room, brush my hair, use deodorant.
So they're away from anything bad for them.

I've also learnt they're good at undoing knots, I got some twine and tied one of their swings so it would stop unhooking from the cage, a few days later and they've undone the knot

 I'll stop I've chattered about my birds a bit, I can't help it, they're my joy. I call them "My sunny day." as Jangle is all yellow like sunshine and Bo is blue and white like a sunny lightly cloudy day.
My Birthday 7th May
