five beautiful things

1. seeing old photographs of your parents when they were your age, remembering that they used to be just like you
2. greenhouses and plant nurseries, the soothing feeling of being encapsulated by nature in such a small space
3. listening to someone practice an instrument, and getting to watch them as they progress and get better at it
4. the sound of jewellery clanging and jostling
5. being in a crowd full of people, seeing all the different faces and wondering what's going on in all of their lives

hmmmm #1 and #5 are both really cool and make my think bout just how interesting we humans really are, but I've gotta go with #1 just because of how wild it is that my mother, someone very very different than me, actually had an incredibly similar teenage experience to my own

1. hearing police sirens late at night when you feel bad & getting caught up in thinking about what's happening around you and in the streets, distracting yourself from the sadness
2. songs with melancholy harmonies are nearly too beautiful for your ears to comprehend
3. the weeds that grow through the cracks in the pavement
4. watching the delicate brushstrokes of an oil painter & becoming mesmerized
5. intricate daydreams that feel so real, it's almost as if you're envisioning one of your past lives
