I gaze up at the midnight sky, can't find a single star
there are times when I miss the light but I'm not afraid of the dark

SKYLAR "NORTH" ALEKSANDRSEN NORDSKOV
BETA FEMALE//STEEL//PUREBLOOD//TWENTY-TWO//SINGLE//TAGS; FAITH, LUCAS, JESSICA.
"protect me? please. i'm the biggest, baddest thing in these damn woods and you know it."
she scoffed. a small sound just brimming with the female's signature arrogance. weird little episode over, the beta was coming back to herself. quite possibly to the dismay of everybody who would encounter her later.
"i can think of one or two who'd jump at the chance to take you out," skylar muttered, continuing with her tirade. "bite off the head of the snake, i think you people say. something like that, i'm sure. don't correct me. to be frank I don't care. you get the point."
the assurance she'd be within earshot wasn't comforting, either. it'd take her precious seconds to find her, precious seconds more to reach her. she was quite possibly the strongest fighter they had, in either pack, but as a tracker she was more than useless.
she took the steaming beverage gratefully despite her worsening mood and cupped her hands around it, murmuring a few words of thanks as she dropped into a seat nearby to drink.
"faith, i'm really worried at the moment, okay? something's going on and like it or not, my job is to protect yo-"
faith jumped. startled. north was up and out of her seat in a second, trying to work out exactly what was going on. eyes scanning the room, all available windows, searching for any movement or sound aside from that created by themselves.
footsteps. that wasn't anything in of itself. they were in the middle of jasper.
then she saw a somewhat familar figure passing the window, with a smaller female companion at his side. presumaly also a werewolf. she couldn't recall his name, sure, but she'd learnt to recognise all of the silver sentinels by sight. at least, all of those living in jasper. she'd had to. scent wasn't something she could rely on, but nor was she willing to let people realise she couldn't. crap.
she took pride in saying she wasn't easily kept under thumb, but that really wasn't true. quite literally, in this case. had faith not grabbed skylar's hand, there was a good chance that - in her current state of mind - she would have lunged.
eyes narrowed, she tried her best to follow her alpha's example, but though she'd managed to still herself to the point that nothing looked wrong, her eyes didn't leave the pair once.
everything my mind wants in conflict with my heart
fighting back surrender but every day i'm falling more apart

EMMELENE "PRIS" AMARANTHINE CRISTENNDALE
ALPHA'S MATE//SILVER//HALFBLOOD//TWENTY-FOUR//SINGLE//TAGS; WAREHOUSE KITCHEN, ROSE, THEO
the alphaess poured the coffee as requested, putting it into one of the pretty white coffee cups and placing it down in front of the older female before she turned to put another capsule in the machine and waited as the latte began to pour. she wasn't one for coffee at all typically, unless it happened to be of the pumpkin spice variety, but the taste of a smooth latte when she was so exhausted was always welcome.
it took a minute, maybe two, of complete and uncomfortable silence but soon she was sat in an adjacent seat and crossing one leg over the other with one fluid movement. emmelene was still an alphaess, though she didn't know for how much longer, and she had a part to play. she'd have time to slump when she was inevitably overthrown.
"let's just get this over with, officer. what did you want to ask?"
though trained well in diplomacy - she'd have rated it among her best skills a week ago - she had to grit her teeth slightly against the gaze of the lone wolf. almost unnoticeable.
breathe. just breathe.
it took everything she had to stay composed when a sudden flash of blood-soaked amber filled her mind and vanished, almost as quickly as it had come. her trembling hands' grip on her mug tightened and, momentarily, she closed her eyes. another one was on its way.
i saw so many places, did things that i did
and with every broken bone i'll swear i lived

ADRIAN "RIAN" LEON AKHTAR
BLADE TEAM LEADER//HUMAN//TWENTY-NINE//SINGLE//TAGS; KAT, VERS
"yeah, that sounds about right."
he couldn't quite see straight but he continued moving towards the door anyway, doing his best to spread his weight out across the dubious floors and trying even harder not to stand on another rodent.
was that blood on his fingers? great. we'll have to dig some bandages out now, too. and tetanus booster shots. that'll be fun.
the team leader reached the doorway without any further incident, somehow, and reached out an arm to kat, in the high unlikelihood that she'd need it.
speak of the devil, where was vers?
"he's still outside," rian decided, calmly. "if he was up here, he'd have gone through the floor already," he added, with a weak smile at his joke. they didn't give enough credit to the man, for sure, but he didn't seem to mind being the group's comic relief. god knew how much they relied on him to hold them together, the same way he relied so heavily on kat to keep him moving in a straight line.
the dust floating in the air sent him into another coughing fit.
"are you alright?"
when you look into my eyes, you know you gonna see that fire
if you’re standing in my way, it ain’t gonna be your day

[b]BAYARD "TY" TYRAEMAR
SENTINEL//SILVER//HALFBLOOD//TWENTY-NINE//SINGLE//TAGS; BLAKE, STILL AT HOME
despite his motivation to get outside and finish the tasks at hand, bayard had been somewhat sidetracked. he'd been half-dressed and singing along loudly to elo's mr blue sky for half an hour when the knock sounded on his door. it took him a moment to recognise the scent of his visitor, but he smiled when he did. he quite liked blake. the guy had more humility than some of his packmates, for sure.
as much as pris' misery tore him up, he'd secretly thought their alpha had had it coming to him. he thought that of a lot of his pack, in fact, but better a pack brimming with hubris than a pack that would kill anything that so much as looked their way. thankfully, the worst ones lived far away from jasper. and, hopefully, if the bereaved alphaess managed to hold onto power - he doubted that, too - she'd better slightly better for them. who knew.
"coming! one sec!"
he was up and moving in seconds, somehow managing to pull on a sweater and his socks as he jogged towards the door. as he'd ascertained, the young scout was indeed the one standing behind the red painted door of his appartment.
"mornin', blake. what's up?"
he frowned as he looked at blake's face, trying to work out exactly what the reason behind the visit was.
"don't tell me you've broken your laptop or something. it's too early in the morning for that kind of work. techy stuff before i've had my coffee? i don't think so."
