How to Adopt
One of the most fun and common ways to get your hands on a Fairview Valley Fjord is through adoption! If you look on the main page you will see horses wearing a halter or not wearing one. Usually, the horses not wearing a halter are still available and are looking to go to a new home! Although, sometimes artists haven't gotten to add it yet, so always look at the most recent comments on horses without halters to make sure they don't already have homes. If you do post a form after the artist has stated "closed" or a winner has been chosen, your form will be voided. An adopt can end before an artist has time to say "closed". Read the front page and what the end date is.
If you post on the end date, even if the artist hasn't said closed, your form will still be voided.
Adoption Form
You will need to fill some or all of this out for every adopt, so it is fully explained below.
Username - Where you put your username.
Show name - What name your horse will be called when you enter classes. (Ex. But I Still Love Myself)
Barn name - It's exactly as it sounds, what they will be called around the barn. (Ex. Burnt Nugget)
Gender - This cannot be changed and will always be preset. You are allowed to add anything needed to explain the character in more depth, but the biological gender cannot change.
Age - The current age of the horse. Can sometimes be preset. (lowest age 4, highest age 12)
Height - How tall the horse is. Can sometimes be preset. Must be in hands ranging from 13.2hh to 15.2hh. (can go higher with selective breeding, will never pass 16.3hh)
Eye color - The horse's eye colour, will always be preset
Phenotype - Will always be preset unless it is a competition regarding the horse's design. How the horse physically appears
Genotype - Will always be preset unless it is a competition regarding the horse's design. Explains the horse's genes
Breeding info - Only on the original post for the horse. Explains percentages for if the horse were to be bred.
Types of adopts
These are some of the possibilities of the many types of adoptions that can take place.
Naming contest - Out of all entries, the artist will either choose their favourite name or the one they believe suits the horse best.
Personality contest - After you write a personality, the artist will choose their favourite or the one they think fits the horse best.
Design contest - The artist will have a solid horse and out of all entries will pick a ref of white markings to give the horse. Or it could be, design the halter, mane/tail, etc.
Image or Gif contest - The artist will pick their favourite image or gif out of the entries.
FCFS or "First Come First Serve" - Whoever posts the form filled out correctly first, wins. It cannot be edited and must be completely filled out. No "TBD" (to be determined)
Raffle - Every entry is given a number and a raffle is held at the end. Any specific requirements can be added. For example, a raffle for non-owners or owners with a low number of Fjord's
Enter for someone else - The artists asks you to do any one of these things, but you are entering for someone else. That person could be kept a complete secret until the end. You cannot ask someone to enter for you.
Compliment contest - Everyone writes compliments to be able to enter for the adopt
Readoption
There are only three ways a Fjord can be readopted. Both the old and new owner must post on the original page and the new owner must message our archivist, certified. You can ask that the name/personality/etc. be kept the same or changed if you are to readopt your fjord out. Readoption is the only time a horse may have a new name and a new halter colour.
Gifting - This way one of the perfect ways if you've lost connection with one of your horses, or if you're leaving the community and want your Fjords to still be used and loved. You can gift to anyone, keep in mind that this way of transaction, everything is one way.
Trading - Your Fjords can only be traded for other Fjords, slots, event currencies, or any FVF currencies that might be added in the future. Under NO circumstances should this species be put up for sale or traded for anything outside the FVF community.
(if found selling your Fjords for cs pets/c$, da points, etc. you will immediately be banned and have all your horses revoked)
User-held Readoptions - You can also hold a competition for your horses! You cannot make any profit off of it. The competition type is completely up to you, feel free to look above for some ideas!
