Is Katsue's pup. Now, I know, y'all are probably thinking, "but Katsue didn't have any lava/volcano hints, how could it be?"
Well, hold tight kids, I'm about to reach.
I'm gonna start with clue 3 since it's the easiest one to connect here. Clue 3 relates to Pavlov's dogs and their conditioning of drooling at the sound of a bell. This connection is pretty obvious, this pup is drooling.
Now for clue 2. This refers to Sirius black from the Harry Potter series. Sirius can shapeshift in a black dog. The pup is kind of black. Sirius is also the name of a star and the pup has brought, starry, glowy eyes. (I also think Sirius' eyes are referred to as glowing at some point in the book but that could be unrelated)
Okay, now for the 1st clue, where I really start to reach. The clue reads, "I hail from a country known for it’s tea, look to the east and you may find me."
At first I jumped between a bunch of countries going nowhere but then kat gave me this tidbit of info, "think of one country, but the eastern part of it"
The country I settled on is Japan. It's known for its matcha and green tea (as well as tea ceremonies) and if you look to the east in Japan, one of the most notable features you see is Mount Fuji.
What is Mount Fuji? an active volcano and this pup just looks like a volcano ready to erupt.
Okay, that's what I got. I might be completely wrong, but I just couldn't let the drool go.
You got me! This is indeed my pup!
So the first hint threw some people off, but it was a reference to the stories of the cryptid-ish creature called the Black Shuck, which is a large black dog with white (or red) eyes that is said to roam East Anglia in England. Most of you got the second hint correct; it was definitely leading you to Sirius, otherwise known as the Grim (hence the title of the chapter, "Grim Defeat"), another version of the Black Shuck creature. And lastly, Pavlov and the bell was a reference to this pups drooly look, which most of you connected quickly!
Thanks for all the fun so far, detectives! Wait, don't put down those looking glasses yet-- there hasn't been a discovery of this pups name yet! Perhaps you can help me find it in the coming days?

Could your pup's toes be a different color from the rest of its body?
Also, that "eye" is incredibly suspicious.
