Dawnpaw nodded, trying to think of other herbs they were short on. Marigold, I suppose. Dawnpaw knew that Shadowpack was one of the strongest packs in the forest. In fact, her mentor said it was the best Shadowpack had been at in a long, long time. They were the biggest pack, and they didn't have any elders or pups or omegas, either. Which was the reason Dawnpaw was always trying to get more Marigold, as it was constantly running out. Stops bleeding, stops infections, heals inflammation, heals stiff joints, she thought tiredly. Then remembering the patrol, she asked "Where was the patrol going?"

She walked forward into the forest, glancing around the woods when accidentally saw the look in Velvetstar's eyes, thinking that whatever she needed to speak with her seemed to be something serious, so she thought for a moment "Snowpaw? As you're already 12 moons old, maybe you could take Birchpaw and get catch something together?" she said to him with a smile.

She thought for a moment about her question "a patrol? you mean that one which just left?" she questioned, realizing that there were any other patrols out at the moment "hmm, I am not sure, maybe hunting? why do you ask?" she asked confusedly.

Dawnpaw shrugged. "No reason, really," she said, which was actually true. She wasn't about to go running after them to join them in hunting. She mostly just liked knowing where they had gone, to avoid bumping into them later on. It was very unfortunate when she did run into them, because often it led to questions like why are you here and why are you alone followed by a lecture on how it's dangerous.

“You do have a point. Okay I’ll take Birchpaw and we will go hunting together.” Snowpaw said. She was glad she didn’t have to be around Velvetstar for the time being. Normally Snowpaw would be honored to hunt with the alpha. But Velvetstar seemed to keep an extra close eye on them all. “Lets go Birchpaw. I’m sure we can find something for the pack.” She said as she stood by him, ready to go.

She smiled at Snowpaw "thank you Snowpaw" she said to the young male, watching as he asked the Birchpaw to come with him. He then turned to Velvetstar "Velvetstar I do see that something is problematic you, so what is it, could you tell me now maybe?" she asked at her as she faced her leader, with a serious look in her eyes.

She nodded to her watching the medicine apprentice dog for a moment "do you need to collect some herbs or stuff? Maybe IU could help you? I don't really have anything to do at the moment" she asked at her, showing a little of her cute puppy eyes.

Dawnpaw nodded thoughtfully, thinking of the Marigold she wanted to collect. "I suppose so. Will Darkhowl mind at all?" Dawnpaw began rapidly thinking of the best possible places to look for the yellow flower. "If it's alright with you, perhaps I would like to go to the lake." Yes, there was often Marigold there.

Silence persisted in her as Flowerpetal sent the accompanying apprentices away, but she made note of what her beta said about Snowpaw. A strong pang of curiosity, followed by slight discomfort, struck her at Flowerpetal's tone when she spoke to her leader. Velvetstar took a deep breath, then assumed her cool, humorous composure, despite the frightening words that were to follow. Her voice lowered and she craned her head to speak directly into her ear as she said, "I saw her. My mother, I mean." Before the horror of the moment could set in, the wolfdog quickly added, "I have some suspicions, but nothing solid yet. I don't want you sharing this with anyone else; we don't need any needless panic if this ends up being nothing. Alright?"

She listened but didn't really get what she was being talked at first "I see, so what kind of suspicious stuff you think your mother was trying to do or planning to do?" she said to her, little unsure. She herself has never sawed any dreams, which could haunt her like those dream the leader or medicine dogs could have.

She lifted her shoulder, shaking her head lightly to her side flicking her ears thoughtfully "actually, I don't really think Darkhowl really minds, he could be blad that I do something else than just sit around on camp, and that's what I've been doing most of the day" she said sighing.

Dawnpaw hid a smile. "Alright, to the lake, I suppose," and began at a brisk pace towards the lake, trying to think of other herbs that grew near it. Aha, Coltsfoot! Dawnpaw smiled inwardly at Flarepaw's kind offer to accompany her, while trying to remember what she knew about Flarepaw. After thinking a bit, she realized, not much.
