(maybe I'm a bit behind the times lol) But what is everyone's thoughts about the retiring of The Rares List?

I was trying to do some digging to see if there were any plans of future guides in the works... I certainly agree than the List was getting ridiculous with how pet worth was tallied up.

I'm glad it went. I've found a few personal guides and "personal lists" people have made for themselves and they are a lot more accurate, with each placement/worth having impeccable reasoning. I think the main flaw of the rares list was placing pets going off trades,which are always subjective with both partners valuing things in an opinionated way.

For example I'm the type to overpay for my collections without caring much if at all how much overpay I'm giving. I feel like a lot of people are that way and that's what was messing the rares list up.

Im glad it was retired, but i also wish it was never created. Its made my collection nearly impossible to complete, and even after 4 years I still need 9 list pets that i cant get because no one will trade "off the list" its incredibly frustrating.

I'm not really sure how I feel about it to be honest.

I can't really say I've seen much of a difference in trading nowadays, as is seems most people still trade based off of the ex-list. I know I was really worried during the debate between keeping it and retiring it, because I thought people would make outrageous values for their lists, but I haven't really seen any of that. I also think it retiring hasn't done what we thought it would, like how a lot of people thought (or hoped) deleting the list would mean people would trade their lists as if they were normal 08' rares, which I think may have come as a surprise to some people, when that didn't happen. I don't think the list itself was a problem, I think it's this overwhelming and crazy demand for certain pets that was throwing everything off (like 2 nons for a Raven, or 1.5 for a Marionette [which I'll never be able to get now, lmao]). I wish someone would make a guide for the demand of some of the higher and lower demand lists.

in conclusion, I don't think retiring the list made any difference, because everything was valued by demand and that wasn't placed on the list. The list should have been redone with the rarity update, but other than that I didn't have a problem with it. I also think we should create a new "list" based on the demand (and I mean the average demand of a pet, I know demand changes between users) of some of the higher list pets, just so we know what we should be trading for our lists.

And a list should be a guide, and people always seem to consider it as a rulebook.
The list is retired and people on the ftt still give advice following the list, while it was seriously out of date. So they give advice on a list that is retired and out of date. Stop using it and start using common sense... i never got how 1 vr pet could be worth 100s of very rares. Its a game, keep it fun. Lists make it easier to see how rare something is, but its also killing the economy

The math of how to 'add up' the worth of the list was mind-boggling to me. I know people are still using the retired list, but man, the math was really intimidating!

I found it looking if the List was being replaced by anything, and I will say that I like knowing the actual numbers.

Hey! About a week ago I decided to go ahead and add all pets I was missing in the archive to my wishlist. This means I now have a wishlist of 95 pages, I haven't had a wishlist this large in years! My curiousity has triggered the wish for a complete collection again and therefore I will now casually start trading for pets that are on my wishlist! I hope to be able to decrease it a whole lot in the next months, considering I am missing a whole lot of 2016 - 2018 pets! From 2008 to 2018 I am currently missing about 3900 pets, maybe I could try and decrease that to 2000 before the end of this year, that seems like a reasonable amount? But we'll see how things go!

I was once there myself with a massive wishlist. As awesome as it feels to knock out pages quickly, I think the stall is worse once you get to the valuable ones... I've been hovering at 11 pages for a while (until I added store pets! lol). I'm still trying to figure out the best way to trade for my WL but I've been dealing with some IRL things for almost two years now

My mind still explodes a little when some people try to argue that one VR pet is somehow worth thousands of other VR pets. A difference in rarity sure, but I've always found the "rarity math" to be a bunch of nonsense. :P

In other news, my obsession with rainbow malk pets has finally been completed... but I want more. Does anyone know if there is a list somewhere of all the rainbow pets on CS?
