Since it's just a halfbody, you might be able to see part of his knee, maybe because he's leaning his head on it, or something?
The pose should, if possible, bring a gloomy mood to bear.

i have a 16+ hr flight tomorrow and during that time ill be working on all commissions placed in this thread, there is a very large chance that ill be unable to send over a sketch due to slow/no wifi in the plane. in this case, please make any information about what youd like in your piece as specific as possible!
