XD It was so weird the first few times I saw him doin it, and it still produces a lot of "awes" even now when we catch him like this.

Does anyone else's cats do something like this?
yes, my cat does that as well!
Sometimes for hours during a nap, too. (:

Today was moving day. We put the cats, Jasper and Bonnie, in the basement while we moved the furniture to the new house, which is about twenty minutes away. The cats were down there for about 5 hours. They had water and food, but it was pretty clear that they were upset with us when we let them out of the basement. When I tried putting Bonnie in her cat carrier, she went ballistic. In the end, I had to carry her in my lap on the ride to the new house. Sheโs a very timid, independent cat, and I could tell that she was absolutely petrified from being in the car. When we got to the new house, she raced to the end of the hall and ended up hiding under my momโs dresser. I decided to leave her there to let her adapt to her new surroundings.
I guess at some point over the course of a couple hours she left her hiding spot and managed to get outside. Itโs nearly 10pm now. Sheโs been outside for nearly three hours. I put cat food outside and plan on putting her litter box on the porch as well. Iโm clinging to this infantile hope that Iโll wake up in the morning and sheโll magically be waiting on the porch. Sheโs not that kind of cat though, and she was only in the house for a couple hours. Sheโll have no idea how to recognize it. To make matters worse, there are several, very active, train tracks less than thirty feet away. Any hope of her being nearby is zilch. The chances of someone catching her and successfully bring her to a nearby animal shelter are also incredibly low due to her timid personality.
I donโt know what to do? Iโve considered going from neighbor to neighbor asking about it but I have severe social anxiety. Does anyone know how to push past that? Or any tips for finding cats?

i think you should wait until the morning to see if she's come back or not. she needs to take in all these new surroundings before she can familiarize and get comfortable with them. my cat did the same thing when i first adopted her. she'd always go outside for hours, sometimes even days, but recently she's been coming back around 9pm everyday so i don't have to ever worry about her not coming back. maybe that will happened with bonnie too, but if she's not back in the morning you should look around. bring a bag of treats and shake it, she could possibly come to the sound of that, or even a toy she likes.
i hope you find out soon and i hope she is okay. i also suggest you bring a family member to go around the neighborhood with you so you feel less anxious and scared when talking to new people <3

We just got a little kitten. His name is Loki and he is a Bengal x Ragdoll (weird mix, I know!).
We don't usually buy kittens, we normally get them from rescue centres, but this boy was in the perfect home environment and brought up around other cats and dogs so we decided to give it a go. He was a bit nervous and sleepy yesterday but is super playful today. Loki is VERY vocal when he wants to be haha. He met the dogs and is absolutely in love with them. The dogs don't really know what to do - our other cats don't like them - but they were excited as well. Loki met our 18yr old as well and they were fine until Loki got scared & hissed. They had a stare-off but cooled off quickly. Loki is a little champ too. Very brave, curious and friendly! I'm in love.
He's a bit scared of sudden movement and loud noises which is normal. We also think he's teething since he mews a lot when eating hard food but not wet food, and sometimes when he plays with and bites toys. He'll be going to the vets next week for vaccines & a check up so we'll let the vet know about it

This might sound crazy or something but here I go.
My cat LOVES David Bowie. A lot. The Rise And Fall Of Ziggy Stardust And The Spiders From Mars is his favorite album from him. He curls up in a little ball and starts purring and mews now and then. It's also a really good way to calm him down too, he's a 4 month old kitten so he gets rowdy a lot and it's nice to be able to play Lady Stardust for him and get him to calm down and relax for a bit. Also if you sing any Bowie song to him he'll fall asleep in like seconds. It's the weirdest but also the best thing ever because I too have an uncontrollable David Bowie obsession.
Does anyone else have a cat that really likes certain music? I've never had a pet react like this to any kind of music before, especially not to this extreme. It's kinda cute, though! But if anyone had an explanation for why he reacts so well to Bowie that'd be really cool to know.

You can't go wrong with David Bowie.
Noctis likes Linkin Park and Somnus from Final Fantasy XV I have a play list on You tube that is used to calm him down when he goes of on one.

instead of listening to music, tiny likes to "watch" tv with me. she'll prop herself on the edge of the couch or tv stand and "watch" whatever i'm watching. she seems to enjoy alvin and the chipmunks it seems.
percy on the other hand, i have no clue if he likes any music. j should see when i get home.
