“Oh, you have pups?” Jay was startled, and then instantly confused by the pang of disappointment that followed the question. Why should she be bothered by that? Cylex was nice, and welcoming, and really sweet to her but that didn’t actually mean anything. They might have just spent some quality time alone together, but that also didn’t mean anything. Cylex probably already had a mate, probably had someone he was interested in even if he wasn’t currently with a mate. They were, essentially, strangers to each other.
Why should that bother her?
Jay shook off the strange feeling. “I’m sure your kids are wonderful. And, knowing Bella, she probably stole some food already from your stores. She also might have done nothing, the two of them are fond of their chase-and-capture games.”

Magnus laughed. “Mr. Sled, huh? I’ll take it.” The grey dog mused, following along. “Tyr or Roman could go look at the pup, they’ve both got the skills for that. Roman’s daughter, Bella, could help even - if they can find her that is.” He nodded over to where Karii had been blazing around Cylex and co.
And speak of the devil herself, Karii was stalking over to them both right then. She had a look in her eyes that had Magnus immediately preparing for all sorts of trouble.
“Oh no, little one.” He chuckled warmly, sticking out a paw to drag her in close to himself. “Dark Blaze and Sheik could use some alone time right now.”
“They got plenty of ‘alone time’ last night.” Karii retorted with a huff. “I wanna know what he thinks he’s doing with Sheik.” Her eyes narrowed in on the pair as she peaked around her adoptive father’s paw.
“C’mon, Kar, why don’t you come help us pack up?” Magnus offered, knowing the pup would love the opportunity to boss them around as they packed up the camp. He glanced over at Pyre. “What’d’ya think? An extra pair of paws wouldn’t hurt, hm?”
Sheik nodded, listening intently as Dark Blaze explained how the camp was set up. “Which is your hut?” She asked, curious. Her pack didn’t use any sort of movable temporary shelter, and the construction of the things were impressive. She was also realizing just how massive the pack’s encampment was compared to her own band’s small fire.
And speaking of massive - just about everyone here was larger than herself. The dao was used to Jahara towering over them all but now the Hyperion looked far less out of place. That Pyre was huge. It was almost intimidating. Sheik kept her head up though, focusing in on Blaze. He was nice to fixate on.

Scoin tentatively placed his paws on the slippery bark, his tail lashing for balance even as he carefully stepped onto their makeshift bridge. Lyric had crossed most of the way by now and he felt comfortable following after her, especially since she was offering help with balancing. He’d had a bit of a problem with his back left leg, a former injury leaving it perpetually sore, and was grateful for the offer of help. He inched slowly across the log, nervous.
Hastar let out a loud, long suffering groan. “You move so slow.” He complained. “It’ll take us all day just to cross this river.”
“And who’s fault is that?” Scoin snapped back, anxiety making him shorter than usual with the savage. “Wait your turn. We’ll be across quicker than you think.”
“I’m pretty sure the log will hold me.”
“I’m pretty sure it won’t!” Scoin barked. “Paws on the ground, Hastar!”
But it was too late. Hastar hopped up onto the log, dropping his heavy weight down onto the creaking wood. It shifted, rolling slightly to the side, and Scoin rolled with it. His bad leg buckled and sent him crashing down into the river.
The blond dao’s head bobbed for a moment before he was dragged under by the current. Hastar didn’t even check to make sure Lyric was secure in her footing before launching himself off the log as well, plunging into the cold water and grabbing ahold of the sandy canine’s scruff. He hauled the unconscious dao up onto the bank, pressing his ear against Scoin’s chest. “You need to go find help.” The large being huffed out, turning to glare out one icy eye at her.
