Calla awoke from beside the churning river. She streched, her haunches rising in the air while her paws flatten themselves on the earth. She yawned and took a sip from the clear water, feeling the sun warming her back as she stepped from the shadows of an old oak. Calla glanced around, wondering where Damian had went since they had both collapsed after a long night of running.

Damian was a little further down stream, already detecting the ghost of shivers along his skin as the air around them began to warm. He yawned and stretched from his sleep which still hadn't worn off yet. He glanced around lazily before deciding to check whether Calla had awoken yet. As he padded along the riverside, he thought he detected the faintest smell of something that didn't last long enough for him to trace to species, even for his nose. He growled quietly before continuing.

Calla's ears perked the instant she heard Damian's soft growl. Any sign that he was uncertain wasn't good. She shook out her pelt that was slightly damp with morning and began padding next to the stream and towards the way she was sure he was. When she saw him, she greeted him silently by licking his chin as all wolves were expected to greet the alphas and each other. Everything alright? She asked him, letting her gaze travel around the forest around them for any signs that had caused him to growl.

Damian could hear Calla nearing him but he kept his eyes on the forest around him. He sighed quietly as he slowed down then he glanced ahead as Calla appeared through the bushes. He returned her greeting before looking back at the trees. I just swear I smelt something that wasn't right but it dissapeared before I could catch a species... he said in a rather frustrated tone.

Calla's ears flicked forward, silent as she listened for any signs of what Damian might have been talking about. It must have been something unusual since Calla could tell he was tense. Shall we go check it out? She suggested, padding queitly the way he had been looking. Her ears were erect, trying to pick up any sound that might tell them what it was. Since different animals walked differently.

Damian nodded and followed just behind Calla, his head raised to detect any smells or signs of movement that would suggest the species of the thing he'd smelt.

After not detecting anything on the bushes or ground, Calla pushed her nose into the sky and stopped to wait for the wind to shift, hoping to bring a scent.
