A slight chilly breeze ruffled the gray tom's pelt as he stood on the large stone in the center of the camp. His ears twitched and his pale gaze was narrowed, his face grim. It was the beginning a leaf-fall. The trees would soon lose their leaves and the cold wind from the mountains would surely mean a harsh leaf-bare to come. Of course, this also meant that if any queen were to have kits any time soon they had to be strong, healthy, perfect. He knew of one queen in particular who was going to have kits soon. His gaze traveled over toward the nursery and he stared at it for quite some time. Not very long ago the tom's kits had fallen ill and weren't strong enough to survive. They, had died shortly after birth and his mate had left him afterwards. The branches of the trees waved in the wind casting shadows over the camp in the growing dawn light. He wouldn't let another kit die. He had failed once and he wasn't going to again. Maybe, then Starclan would forgive him for bringing forth cursed kits. Finally, Slatestar pulled his gaze away from the nursery. He could not dwell on his failure. Not now. With a flick of his tail he leaped down from the stone, before heading towards his den.

The flame-pointed molly awoke to yet another day, as a chilly breeze swept through her pelt. She fluffed it up against the breeze, her tail lying over her nose. She opened her eyes slightly, and turned toward the entrance as dim dawn light struggled to shine into the den. Green-leaf had finally ended and it was the beginning of leaf-fall. Her ears flicked as she thought about what today would bring. Ever since the death of their leader's kits, things hadn't been the same. At least, when it came to kits. Her gaze traveled around the den noticing that many of the warriors were still here. Perhaps, she would take her apprentice on a hunting trip or sparring? Maybe, they would be able to join one of the dawn patrol, but that was of course up to the deputy. She finally, rose to her paws stepping carefully around her fellow warriors, before padding out of the den. She shook out her pelt, before glancing around. She had a bad feeling about the coming days. Somehow she knew something bad was bound to happen at some point. Many cats had already disagreed with Slatestar's ways compared to the few that did. A yawn escaped from her muzzle, before she took a seat near the entrance of the warriors den, before waiting for patrols to be sent out.

The young tom was still asleep in the apprentice den as the chilly breeze ruffled his pelt. However, Gorsepaw didn't wake up. His ears flicked and his tail twitched as he slept in his nest. It wasn't until he rolled over that he awoke with a start. Ow. He turned his head, before noticing a twig in his nest. He loved raking his claw against branches and twigs and he normally brought a few back to camp with him. He must have forgotten to take this one out of his nest. Glancing around the den he noticed that it seemed like no one was up. He didn't feel like getting up at the moment either. He yawned, rising to his paw to circle his nest, before plopping back down. He then closed his deep amber eyes, before falling asleep once more.
