❄G L A C E ❄
-------------------------------------------------------

Age || Seven years of age

Rank || Fighter

Gender || Male

Height || 32 inches, just above 2 and a half feet. About 5 ft. on his hind legs.

Weight || 115 lbs.

Breed || Great Pyrenees

-------------------------------------------------------

Personality || If one searched the definition of gentle giant, an image of Glace would be found next to the definition. His temperament is legendary, having a high tolerance for everything from overly-rambunctious pups to arrogant, self-centered adult dogs. Because of this, Glace is able to keep a calm composure in almost any situation and think clearly. This includes combat- which is the reason he now walks as a fighter for this pack. However, Glace will not fight unless he actually thinks it's necessary, and this includes when he's told to. If one does not seem to need punishing, there is no point in delivering punishment. While Glace believes that all are good at heart until proven otherwise, he is not a fool. Due to his past, he's learned many things, one of them being how to properly read the expressions of others. Empathy is another skill of his, and it especially comes in handy when some dog is trying to [removed] him.

Aside from all of that, Glace definitely has adapted a bit of a lazy streak in his older age. One of his favorite activities is to lie in the snow during cold winter days, enjoying the feeling of powdery ice against his thick fur. On the other end of this spectrum, Glace has a difficult time functioning during hot summer days. He'll carry out his duties without complaint, but it's difficult to ignore the sound of his panting during parched afternoons.

Glace also happens to disagree with Alpha's dislike for humans. But this is something he would never admit aloud.

-------------------------------------------------------

Backstory || Glace, as his breed is normally kept around for, spent his adolescent years on a farm as a working dog. His job was to guard the herd of cattle, given Glace's owners, an older married couple, lived in a more rural area. A beautiful few acres of meadow surrounded by the woodlands. In the crevasse of a valley, to boot. The herd was rather small, consisting of only ten or so cows, but Glace did his job with pride because he loved his owners. And Glace was loved in return. For many, many months, the Pyrenees's life was a routine of rising early in the morning with the man, going out to let the cattle into the meadow, and watching them until about noon or so. When the sun was high in the sky, the man would come back from whatever his work for the day was and eat lunch with Glace. This normally consisted of kibble, but there were more than a handful of times the man would toss Glace leftovers. Then, back to watching the herd.

As the sun would set, Glace would help the man gather the cattle back up into the barn, and the two would go inside for supper. This was his life for the longest time until the woman passed away and the man fell ill. His remaining owner spent most waking days in dismay over the loss of his wife, Glace only able to watch and attempt to offer comfort. Between this and his age, the man was clearly no longer able to take care of Glace like he used to.

The last ride in his owner's truck was different. Glace knew somehow, some way... That he would never be coming back to the farm. That this was his final day with his beloved owner.

And Glace was correct. Around the age of five, the Pyrenees was delivered to a rural shelter for others of his breed. The farewell nearly tore his heart in two, feeling the man hug him one last time before turning away. Glace would never know it, but the man wept the entire way home, now missing the other soul that drove away the loneliness.

From here, he spent the next year of his life in the shelter. He was larger than the rest, and perhaps this warded off potential new families.

"Oh... We have children, are you sure he's...?"

"No, our home is much too small."

"I was actually more interested in a pup!"

"How old...? Won't he die soon?"

It was becoming more and more clear to Glace that his time spent walking with humans was over. So, the next time he was let out in the play-yard (it was a younger, less experienced volunteer that favored their phone over playing with dogs, thankfully), Glace dug his way under the fence and ran off into the wilderness without looking back. Despite the pain of losing both of his past owners, and being left in a shelter, Glace never grew to resent humans. He knew his master. He never would have left him if there wasn't a good reason.

So, he now lives among other dogs in this pack. Occasionally thinking back on his past.
