I don't post much either and I usually play on KR, as I live in Korea. However I did start League back when I was in the US, in the summer of 2012, and so you can find me on NA under the ign FairyCharmed. I'm a Lulu support main who basically quit SR about a year ago due to toxicity to support players, and I'll be playing with a sub-30 friend of mine on NA in about 30 minutes (aram) if anyone is interested.

hey I’m a Lux one trick w/ about 150k mastery points on her - I play her for her burst damage/utility and I play her mid. Champions that I also enjoy playing include Evelynn (one of the pretty strong junglers, huge burst damage making her similar to Lux however their kits are not that alike, got nerfed this patch tho), Neeko (midlaner who’s kit feels pretty similar to Lux), and orianna (midlaner, has a similar burst damage to Lux but she’s much harder compared to Neeko or Lux). I know a few people who enjoy Morgana (support) as she also has a long root but I feel like Morgana is much less offensive and has less burst compared to Lux.
If you want offensive supports you can always play Zyra or Brand as they’re both huge damage dealers and both are considered supports, I haven’t played them tho so I can’t tell you whether they’re similar to Lux. I also enjoy playing Pyke when I’m support but he’s not that similar to Lux.
LoL is pretty toxic lolol but the anxiety goes away the more u play and there will always be a lot of chill and nice people out there as well. You should mute everyone if it bothers you and play like you’re just playing with bots ^-^
Hey! Thank you for all the lovely recommendations, I'll get down to playing as many as I can and checking out their abilities as soon as possible. I've seen Neeko and she seems like a very interesting champion! I've also noticed that certain champions are on a rotation? I think it's just a matter of becoming less overwhelmed by their new kits and learning to adapt along with it.
So considering you play Lux as a burst/utility champion, would that be a better route to take than mainly being support/utility? I've been told she does have great damage but considering that everything's quite new to me, I've struggled to stick with those claims myself. A friend of mine said she's okay to run with ADC on bot, is that true? I think a couple of champions do synergise well with her kit.
Yeah, I'll try to remember to mute if it really goes that bad, haha. Seems that toxicity is just around the corner if any little mistake is made.

I have 200k points on Lux (although not a main). I'd only go ADC Lux once you really get the hang of the game, it's not the easiest thing to do if you want to play it seriously because she's a mage. Support Lux got nerfed recently, and it annoys a lot of ADC players when people go support Lux because she really wasn't made to be a support. Even though she has a shield, it isn't the most effective support utility because it's a skillshot. You can go champions like Janna, Lulu and sona and shield for more with a point and click ability (in Sona's cause you don't even have to click) and have all the other useful support utilities on hand. Lux is pretty useless if not built AP because like I said, her only support ability is a skillshot shield and she needs to do damage to be relevant. You can build items like athenes, redemption etc on normal support champions because their AP/AD scaling is pretty trash anyway.
If you like Lux as a support, I recommend morgana as their kit is pretty similar, and she has more specifications to the role.
Support morg you could try glacial augment or aery (personally I prefer aery).
Neeko is also less of a support, when I go support Neeko my ADC's get mad because it's really hard to not steal kills.
I mained Nami for 3 years straight and have 1mil+ mastery points on her. Her kit is really simple and she's a great starter champion if you want to learn support. She works great with pretty much every ADC except Kalista, I've found her most effective with Jhin, Vayne, Draven and Lucian. :-)

I just come to say hello! Pretty much play whatever, wherever but been maining rakan lately.
Also super excited this past week. Finally got my flex to gold after trying to play with my ex who is so bad. The best part about it was I got to gold while playing adc.

I’m a support main for three seasons. Obvious gold but I’m going to try to get to platinum. (Failed promos twice because of feeders but remaining positive)
I’ve also started to extend my champ pool by playing Akali and irelia. I don’t play melee much besides two champs. I really have fun with Akali, even though her ult timer messes me up, and I’m really bad with itelia but determined to get better.

So, this is a bit awkward for me but I've decided to join and start playing League of Legends. I'm honestly really new to it and have a couple of friends trying to teach me all there is to know. I'm finding it super complicated but I hope I'll get there. I'm playing in the EUNE region right now.
I've been into playing a lot of support characters but obviously with my lack of knowledge, I feel a little lost sometimes. So I was wondering if anyone could link me to 'new-player' friendly in-depth guides?
So far the champions I have enjoyed playing has been Lux because I like her offensive and supportive capabilities. Any recommendations?
Any tips for someone who has been playing RPGs (mainly PvE) but is new to the MOBA scene as well? Thanks. Also, I know that LoL has been infamous for its toxicity and that's always been a part of what has stopped me playing since I can have a lot of anxiety about this. Is this true or not? A friend of mine has told me that the community has become more mellow over the years.
I hope to progress gradually to the point I'm confident. Thank you for all the help in advance.
I just thought I'd put my take on this, or whatever you may call it. I've been playing MOBAs for 5+ years with Dawngate being the first one I ever played and it got shut down within a year of me playing it. I then turned to League because all my friends recommended it and I've been a support main since the beginning, I remember when I first started out that if you were losing it was the support or jungles fault that the team was losing (or at least that's what the team thought and they would flame one or two people, turn into a big fight). I have high anxiety but I also find comfort in playing games so it's really confusing when I play games like league in which these two "moods" fight each other especially with toxic players who can't help but blame someone when in fact it's just bad teamwork or maybe you're just having a bad game (or you're a new player learning the game).
As for support champions, I say to go for the suggested ones in the beginning. When I first started out Sona was my favorite and my first main, she still is one of my favorites. She's easy to learn with a nice poke and a heal that can get pretty huge with the right items and her e gives her great mobility while her ult is her only skill shot and is a stun. Soraka is a good pick as well with her silence and heals but if you like the burst with the defense I'd say Lux and Morgana are good choices for you, Morgana has some nice crowd control with her q (if hit) and r (if enemies stay in the zone long enough) and her shield can be pretty annoying as well as her w. I'd say if you like Lux though and if you're confident in playing her then don't stop playing her as a support, I personally haven't had any one get mad at me for playing Lux support unless I'm taking their farm/minions or kills. Just remember to get a support item, poke the enemies, and watch the map/ward when playing the support.
Moving to toxic players and anxiety, I don't know how bad your anxiety is but I know mine can get pretty bad and sometimes it can also effect my game play especially when someone points out a bad play that I did. What I usually do is just do my best to get through it, sometimes it can get really hard and I've left games because of it but only when it's really bad and my advice is just to try your best and if there is a toxic player or a couple of toxic players in your game try to get through it and then take a nice break after it or maybe have that be your last game for the day. Most of the time though you'll just get an upset player that you can ignore, I'd say I'll run into a true toxic player or a group of them maybe every once in awhile.
Anyways I haven't played a game of league in awhile, I've been playing a lot of TFT but if you guys want to add me I play support (duh), adc, and mid. I play on the main servers of NA and on the PBE servers NA.
Main NA - Superb Max
PBE NA - PBE Syn
*sorry if there is any mispellings and whatnot I don't proofread lol
So did anyone see the new little legends??? cute

I don´t exactly know who started that talk about the support role but I lately figured out how much I love playing Sejuani as a support.
Of course the ADC needs to pick a melee champ for that or else the comp wouldn´t worked but especially with Volibear It´s so strong.
I mean... really just so strong shdhfbksfs what the holly molly is this strong
I actually never lost a game with Sejuani/Voli, sadly If yo play without premades you barely can play Sjeuani/Volibear.
If anyone is interested, I´m always searching people to play Sejuani/Volibear with, so If you feel in the mood to try It out feel free to add me [Culthro].
It´s rather easy, you just need to play safe till Lv. 2 (or 3 by choice) and then you just need to hit 2 autoattacks each and you have basically won the fight and as soon as you and your teammate are lv 6 no one can run away anymore xD

I'd like to thank everyone for the replies, recommendations and tips! I'm still learning the game but the helpfulness of community has indeed aided me in feeling more secure as a support player! I have to be thankful that the game has been around for so long because many of you are so experienced. I'm having fun along the way and have luckily not met too many toxic people to ruin my day either.
On another note: the new Star Guardian skins? Yay or nay?
I am... quite possibly the number one Neeko lover, her Star Guardian is so cute! The frog is adorable in her skills. Zoe's design caught me off guard but it's very creative, I very much adore all the little detail made and how similar she is to the squid. Xayah and Rakan's skins are stunning, the level of details in their models boggles me and it's amazing to see how well they synergise. An interestingly dark fantasy skin for a wonderful couple (with some interesting lines too). Always looking forward to interactions!
Which reminds me, perhaps I should try out Rakan, he seems like a blast to play.Star Guardian splash arts ▶
