Crabs, Esryn thought to themselves. They had come across plenty on the island, many scuttling behind rocks or leaping between bushes. So it would make sense, of course, for there to be more of them than he had ever imagined. He shuddered, wondering what was waiting for him in the shadows of the palm trees. Two big claws, click clacking their way into his nightmares. Perhaps crabs didn't really make that sound, but the idea of the click clack really messed him up. Their snail-like eyes, branching off their big, armoured bodies from thin, sensual branches... He could bet they saw everything that occurred in this mortal realm. The Crabs See All...

What was that?

From the corner of his eye. A little scuttling creature, about the size of his shaking palms. A bead of sweat fell down his cheeks in a graceful curve. Even from now, he could imagine the click clacking of its little hands. His ears twitched in anticipation. Fear seized his body, his limbs stuck at his sides. How many crabs could be on this island? Thousands, Millions. He could barely comprehend the numbers. He gulped, and closed his eyes slowly. Even from this far away, he could feel the shift in the sand as it approached. It? Or They.

Prompt response: crabs being everywhere on the island just seemed like a problem in itself. sharkbait knew that something could be done not only for aukai, but for the whole of the island as well. her mind started to go over the possible ideas. then, a crab appeared from over the small pile of sand. sharkbait knew what she had to do and rushed over to it. the crab looked up at her and tried to get away, but failed as she picked it up. sharkbait threw it right into the ocean and stood there waiting until it possibly returned. the crab cautiously appeared on the beach for a few moments before sharkbait returned it to the ocean. she repeated it for as long as it dared to return. it would be impossible to make only one person do it with all the crabs on the island; however, a whole island could definitely get the job done.

how? was the big question on her mind. that's when it hit her, metaphorically and literally, in the face. a small of driftwood landed at her feet. that's when plan b came into existence. she gathered all the wood she could into one pile. sharkbait lined it up as a wall that is not too far from the ocean, but it is far enough to ensure water can't knock it down. no gaps were in the wall or couldn't be scaled by the crabs. near the wall, there was a sign to tell anyone using the beach throw the crabs back into the ocean. that seemed to work for the first couple of hours that sharkbait stood there to watch over it. that should hold up for a while and teach the crabs to stay out.

Pip pulled out a sweeper conveniently stored in his coat. He was not sure how he even fit it on him, but such thoughts and questions of why were not needed at the moment. For the crabs were trying to achieve world domination. Both Kalons watched as the crabs held their tiny pitchforks and torches and flags.

Pip flipped on the sweeper and began sucking up the crabs one by one. They almost seemed to be endless, everytime one crab got sucked up more would appear out of nowhere. "Where are they even coming from?" Pip questioned as a sea of crabs came out of the forest.

A king crab suddenly walked out of the forest screeching, it was bigger than Pip and his new friend. "I came from the crashed cruise ship. For years we have watched our brethren and sisters be eaten by you monsters. And we shall take no more! We are taking over the land so we can make it a crab paradise. No harm shall come to us here! Kalons that live on this island shall serve us as slaves! We shall feast on their flesh and bones." The crab ranted.

During the rant the crab blew up into confetti. Pip quickly shot up from the sandy ground looking around. It was just a dream.

Eleanor cringes at the stream of crabs that make their way in and out of Aukai's shack. The little creatures resemble oversized ants when they act like this. She thinks back to an ant trap her father used to lay out and hurries off, telling Carter she'll be back with a solution. It takes some trial and error, but eventually, Eleanor whips up a paste made of sugar and a few other things she steals borrows from Shark's workshop while he's busy at the ship. She grabs huge rolls of paper from the store (usually used for art projects) and hauls her supplies back to the shack. She explains her plan to Carter and has him help her spread out the paper and drench it in the sugar paste for a huge chunk of area. The pair then wait, anxious to see if Eleanor's trap will be a bust or not. About 15 minutes later, the curious little crabs are convinced it's safe to return to their thieving, and they cross the papers. At least, they attempt to. Sure enough, the paste activates and becomes sticky as the crabs try to walk across. Eleanor beams as the paper starts to fill up.

"Nice! Like fly paper- uh-oh." She watches as some of the crabs start to climb over their stuck brethren, using them as a bridge past the stickiness. She scrambles up and waves Carter towards the crabs. "Dump the stuck ones in the harbor! I'm gonna go make a lot more of this stuff until we can figure out how to seal them out permanently!" She calls as she runs back to the ship, kicking up sand as she goes. Darn crabs. There's just too many!

Carter looks pensive as you explain your plan, though he doesn't protest despite the hesitation on his face. He's silent for a long while after you finish, gazing at the direction of where Aukai had set up his snorkeling area. He's silent for so long that you start to doze off, jolting a little as he suddenly speaks up again.

"That sounds like a good plan... I don't wanna hurt the little guys, but if they're gonna bother the islanders here, it's gotta be done."

Carter gives one more nod, seemingly to steady himself more than anything, as he gets to his feet. You rise with him, giving him a pat on the back and agreeing that it's probably for the best.

"I'll tell 'im about it in the morning. You should probably get back to the ship an' get some rest."

It's almost unbearably hot today, so much so that you debate not going to Carter's house. However, you've been visiting him daily for a while now and it would probably worry him if you just stopped showing up one day, so you decide to head over anyways. You don't immediately see Carter once you reach the cabin, and you're starting to wonder if you've made a mistake trekking all this way in the heat before you spot him sitting in the shade on his back porch. As you get closer, you can see that he's carving an elaborate design into a small piece of driftwood.

"Hey there! Warm day today, isn't it?"

You nod, not mentioning how "warm" is a bit of an understatement. Carter doesn't seem to be that affected by the weather, though; his chipper attitude seems to be unchanged in the heat. In fact, he seems to be almost bouncing with excitement, as if he's itching to say something... He's quiet for a long moment, finishing up the carving on the piece of wood and turning to pick up another piece. After a while, he speaks up again.

"I gotta say, thanks for helping me out with those riddles! Thanks t'you, I think I’ve really started to get the hang of 'em! So much so, I’ve actually come up with one m'self! Care to give it a try?"

Ah, so that's what he was so excited about. You agree to think on the answer;
it's really hot out and you're content to spend the rest of the day in the shade, watching Carter carve.
