Geodes and stones always had properties, something people of old looked into and analyzed. Simple rocks made special with meaning, it was amazing how creative some people could be. Taking a gander at the collection of stones, he lifts one and pivots it around.
"Well, temples tend to have a point to them. Healing, faith, hope... Sometimes more than one. On an island this small I imagine you support several kinds of faith?" He sets one rock aside, picking up another. Hylo tosses it up, catching it and setting down in the sand. "You should find some Abalone shells, they can hold the gemstones of your choice and depend the meaning sometimes too. Especially with things like Black Tourmaline; that's a powerful combination of protection energy. It's also pretty one theme with any sea driven stones like Lapis Lazuli or Aquamarine! Pearls would a nice accent too come to think of it." Hylo mutters, looking out over the water.
Small pearls would be a great addition to the shell and whatever stone they held. "A group for protection, a group for healing, even better if there can be a spot for energy in case you guys have a tough time! Heck, maybe with enough energy stones and good luck charms we can fix that boat!" Hylo jokes, chuckling slightly at his own hopes. Maybe these rocks could give him something to look forward to. "That's just me though, some themes and aimed power."

Veloria's eyes shone, and her face lit up with a giddy grin stretching ear to ear.
"Crystals you say? I actually may be of a bit more service here. You see, each crystal is formed in its own special way, and has special properties because of it. I won't bore you too much with the science of it all, but I'd expect a decent amount of quartz and agates on this island."

Carter nodded, the word quartz seeming to register with him.
"Oh, yes. I do think Thatcher mentioned these geodes being made of quartz or something along those lines."

"They're a relatively common crystal, but still gorgeous and can be dyed easily, so it's perfect for tourists. But I suppose.. that isn't what you were asking about at all, huh? Forgive me, I just get so excited about these damn rocks!"

"It's not a problem." Carter smiled as he tousled her hair a bit. "Perhaps you should head his way, and bring some stones to him. He may be a little strange, but I don't think he'd ever decline talking bout crystals."

She stooped down, eyes scanning the rubble, hands dancing over the split rocks. "Ah, here's a great couple of specimen! Well, if Thatcher needs help arranging these, I'd be glad to carry these over while you work and save you the trouble. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't dying to hear his plans for a shrine, as I have a shrine set up at home myself."

"A suggestion?" Repeated Willow.
"Yes, a suggestion, have you got any ideas?" Caster replied, stretching his back.
"Hmm" Willow paced up and down the rocks. She felt as if this hole shine thing was now in her hands, and didn't want to make a wrong move.
"It's ok-" Willow placed her fingers at his lips and gestured she was thinking. Looking down at the gems she had to work with, a spark fired in her mind.
"Stay right there!" And before Carter could reply Willow was sprinting into her tiny cabin room.

flinging everything of a small table, Willow slammed a scroll of paper in replacement. Maybe that was a bit overdramatic? No. She's gotta stay focused, the shrine is in her hands. Creativity is her element. She cant fail. Picking up a pencil that had flung of the desk with the other stationery she wrote in large letters; S H R I N E S C U L P T U R E
She detached the pencil from the paper. Now was the hard part; the idea.
"Caster said something about crabs." She told herself, chewing on the end of the pencil. Crabs... Crabs... CRABS!
A spark had fired in her head, sticking out her tongue in deep concentration. A few moments later she rose from her chair and sprinted back out the door. Like she had asked Caster was waiting there, a confused expression plastered on his face. Panting from far too much exercise, Willow hands Caster the piece of paper.
"A crab riding a surfboard?" Willow held her breath. "I love it!"

"crabs? like. for eating or watching?" eden asks airily, partly curious; he'd had a lot of crab to eat as a child, due to his parents' tastes and yearning for a place they'd never loved enough until they had turned from it completely. carter had been unsure in voice and body language about describing thatcher, so eden can only assume he will be a fun addition to the island cast. he knew himself to be eccentric at times, too.
"anyways, dunno what exactly what he’s gonna do with all of these -he mentioned some kind of shrine, i think?- but he wanted some suggestions on how to arrange the gems for whatever he’s putting together. i’ve never been the interior (exterior?) decorating type, believe it or not, so maybe you can help me out, an' i’ll pass along the message," carter finishes.
a shrine, huh. dredging the memories up today, eden muses. that wasn't necessarily bad nor something that brought joy to him. it was just something and he didn't have the space to care for it.
eden quirks a smile at carter. "don't worry about it, carter. just keep breaking rocks for him (and don't forget to save me some). dating advice is not the only thing i'm practiced in, y'know." most of the experience is studiously watching 'property brothers' on hgtv in his tiny and messy apartment and playing 'animal crossing: new leaf' religiously.
"so we should save room for a centerpiece, since you're staying mum about the theme of the shrine," eden only looks slightly displeased when he eyes carter, who shrugs nonchalantly and says something vague again; this island and its love for surprises. "then next, ... oh! we should add weeds. or flowers? something nice and to keep that natural idea going with the geodes you're cracking right now. like, put them in between the different rocks, make it look like they're growing out of them, prettily. and we could incorporate seashells on or inside the rocks; we could get them from egg or timothy. i feel like he has a knack for them. anyways, we put them ─the seashells─ in a pattern around the centerpiece ─ hold on, i'll just draw a picture, yeah? that'd be a lot easier to interpret for thatcher, i think."
eden returns after a few minutes of running to and from another location, having asked for pen and paper and received those goods. "let's start from the beginning one more time."
sweeping his hair from his shoulder, eden starts to ramble again, curled protectively over his sketch (this, the sun will not touch). this goes on for about ten more minutes before eden about collapses on the rock he's claimed as his seat and returns to his position, wide-eyed, upon getting another idea.
"what if we just, go to an earthbound, check out their display for inspo and buy a really sparkly rock while we're there?"
carter offers him an odd look.
"oh yeah. small island. no mall. sad life. i'm kidding, don't worry! the island is good," eden laughs again and he feels warm. "it's a good place to be. if i could call a place home, maybe i would say here." or more precisely, it's here where he feels his heart resides most comfortably ─ away from the city, the drama, the memories.
"it's good here. beautiful." he says again, soft. "let's also paint some rocks in neon colors. or, how about glow-in-the-dark paint?" (580 words)

Annie thought for a moment. Then another. Blinked a few times. Thought some more.

A shrine?

She had no idea where to start. She'd never made a shrine before, and she had no idea what this Thatcher's preferences were. How big did he want the shrine? Was it all gems? Where would they be going?

"Um…"

Her mind had gone blank, but she was aware of Carter's expectant gaze, and tried to grasp at any stray thought that could be of use. He'd spent all this time and effort breaking these rocks and geodes, and he'd made such an effort at making her feel welcome, so she was eager to help him. She really thought of him as a friend now; she didn't want to let him down.

"So…" she paused. "A shrine. Let's think about that." A shrine was generally some sort of…dedication thing. People dedicated shrines to things. Usually it seemed there was a statue of something, and then people lit candles or left offerings. Sometimes a shrine could be a picture, or a painting on a wall. She wasn't sure what kind of shrine Thatcher was going for; whether it was for the public, or something personal for him. But either way, it could probably go along those lines.

"Maybe...he could use the rocks to make a little crab statue?" she suggested. "I'm sure he could glue the pieces together, or something along those lines." Carter nodded as she spoke, and she continued. "Then perhaps with the geode pieces, he could make a sort of mural? To stand behind or under the statue? There are some lovely green and blue gems here, they'd work a treat mimicking the ocean and tide pools." As she spoke, she felt her confidence grow.

"I think it'd be a great way to use both kinds of materials, and showcase them in different kinds of ways. Maybe we could even help him out, if he wants us to? It'd be nice to make something cool together - and I'm sure it'd be super fun!"

She ended her little speech in a loud, excited tone that seemed to reflect in Carter's eyes. "Sounds like a plan!" he said, raising his hand to give her a high five, which she happily accepted. On the inside, Annie felt warm emotions welling up. This unexpected Kruise detour was turning out to be a rather fun time!
