I wish I was more familiar with the books, but they do look amazing. Reminds me that I have a few unfinished sketches on one of the laptops. Well....both of them, perhaps. Maybe I'll doodle something on my days off.

Well, I was checking up on Film Theory, and I saw this one. I was understandably excited, but it took about two minutes to realize what was wrong with this, he's treating the dragons like they're plain lizards with no emotion, only instinct. Even though they have clearly been shown to be very sentient. Matpat, I love you, you're a great guy, but you gotta realize the facts of the universe you're theorizing about, lol. Definitely a nope from me.

If anyone honestly believes that Hiccup forced this dragon to do anything, they've got to rewatch the movie imo. We know Toothless could have escaped the cove on his own if given the effort -demonstrated in his attempt to save Hiccup in the arena-. If he really, truly wanted to leave, he could have.

And I don't mind the analogy to clipping a birds wing so much as I mind the dependency analogy he movie itself seems to push. Using only the first movie here, Toothless can not fly without Hiccup. At all. But hiccup can walk without toothless. Hiccup is in no way dependent on toothless for his way of life, whereas Toothless becomes almost entirely dependent of Hiccup for his. And I get that it's supposed to be 'symbolic' of the sacrifices they've made, but eeehhhhhh. Toothless' 'sacrifice' wasn't exactly voluntary, but eh......ok.



Side note, I got a BaB Toothless for my birthday this past week! He's precious, but idk how to feel about the detachable wings. Could have just given him fabric ones like most toothless plushies.

I know even we get on RTTE and the earlier shows for the animation sometimes, but look at this child's eyelashes.




They're so clear.
You can see each one.
I'm in awe and also just appreciating his eyes in general.

So Rescue Riders is a thing now, annndddd

I legit couldn't make it past the first 3 seconds of the shows intro.
If I had known this was going to be for literal fetuses, I wouldn't have had my hopes up at all.
Animation is different.
Style has drifted from the more rustic Viking vibes we're used to.
And it's my understanding that for some reason, the dragons actually talk in this one.

Yikes.
Even Dean himself seem to insist that this not be considered canon in any way.

I was in Spanish class looking on Pinterest at httyd stuff and I saw that and I was like “it’s probably just a fan art” so I searched it up and my heart dropped and i had a panic attack. I quickly texted my brother and me and him are freaking out now
