If you already used the name trick, you have to walk an eevee 10 km as your buddy. You must evolve it while it's your buddy. Day time in game for Espeon and night time in game for Umbreon!

Yup! The name trick works - but only once! So if you used it at any point on an eevee, you cannot use it again!
The names are:

Jolteon: Sparky
Flareon: Pyro
Vaporeon: Rainer
Espeon: Sakura
Umbreon: Tamao
Leafeon: Linnea
Glaceon: Rea

This is the only way to guarantee a Jolteon, Flareon, or Vaporeon. Any other time you evolve - it will be random between the three. To get Umbreon and Espeon (as I mentioned before) you must walk that eevee as your buddy for 10 full KM. You must evolve it while it's your buddy during the day (Espeon) or night (Umbreon). For Leafeon and Glaceon, they use the new lures. You must be in radius of the lure (Mossy for Leafeon and Glacial for Glaceon).

....Wow, um, I completely forgot. Somehow I couldn't remember which of the Eeveelutions were in the game. For some odd reason, I thought there were two more than there actually is. Slyveon is the only one I need then. I am hoping to get a shiny Eevee to evolve.

Also what is the strangest/weirdest nicknames that you have given to pokemon? I have a Salamance that I named Nyarlathotep, a Swampert named Azathoth, those two were named after two Outer Gods from H.P. Lovecraft. I also have two Flareons that I named Zaitherin and Arim. They were twin brother and sister Fetchlings (The Flareons are also male and female ) that I had in a Pathfinder campaign, and they were cohorts of my own character. I just want to see what people had name their pokemon. I was always curious about that.

To figure out if you already used the name trick, just look at the little image on the evolve button.
It shows you the Eeveelution you'll get - but if you already used it, then it will just show a '?'
(Can also be used with the new mossy & glacial lures, it shows Glaceon and Leafeon when you're in range of the pokestop)

I barely give my PoGo mons any names. :')
Most names are IVs, individual stats, "100%", the year for 2016/2017 ones or their attack types.

I give strange names to my Pokemon in the regular games sometimes (usually just string random letter/sound combinations together until I find something I like), but in Go, I go the boring, practical route and use Pokegenie's name generator. So my "nicknames" are all the Pokemon's name + IV value + symbol(s) for its attack types, like this:

Do the nicknames really work for Glaceon/Leafeon too? I got mine just using the lures, but I'd love to not have to waste coins to get a couple more of them.

Yep, Linnea for Leafeon and Rea for Glaceon. That's how I evolved mine, didn't feel like paying for lures.

Sorry if you've noticed I haven't been keeping this thread updated as of late. A lot of stuff has been going on irl, but I am still around! However, it might be a little while yet before this thread goes back to being frequently updated so I've made the current Raid Pool on the front page a little more basic so I can edit it easier.
