Orchid snapped out of the trance Thor had seemingly put her in as soon as Peter pulled her back into his arms. If her cheeks could get any redder,they did in that moment. God how embarrassing, she had been completely enamored by Thor as soon as he had merely looked in her direction,and the fact that he had kissed her, though it was only on the cheeks, had made her completely turn to mush, in front of her boyfriend of all people. Orchid squirmed in his grip a bit,laying her head on Peter's chest and looking up at him. She took in his expression,puffing her cheeks out. "Despite what you might think, unlike other girls who would prefer to be wrapped up in Thor's strong embrace, I'd much rather be in yours. There's no where else I'd rather be than in your arms, Peter." She resisted the urge to kiss him to prove her point,getting the feeling that would draw more attention than she wanted right now. Peter was basically like a nephew or a son to the Avengers,and if Orchid knew anything about parents and aunts and uncles seeing their kids be affectionate with their significant other, there would be 'awww's and 'how sweet's coming from most of the adults here. She did not need that right now,her embarrassment was already enough. A cheeky grin replaced the frown on her face and she pressed closer to him."Though,if the thought of me being with Thor, getting married to him,ruling Asgard by his side,having an heir to the throne with him does really get you that riled up, I might just do it to have you chase after me."

Tony chuckled,nodding at Avery's words. The kid did seem to adore Orchid, it reminded him a lot about the way he felt about Avery. It was crazy how night had pushed all of them in a new direction. Tony couldn't help but wonder what would have happened if Peter had been able to deal with those robbers without getting himself hurt, he doubted the kid and Orchid would be any closer to being as happy as they were now, and Tony thought it was pretty possible he,himself,wouldn't have taken such a leap with Avery. He decided right then that he wouldn't have it any other way."You do know, that as soon as we time the knot,you're basically going to be the kid's mom right? I'd never say this to his face,he'd probably die of happiness or something,but Peter, he's like a son to me." he chuckled sheepishly,looking over at the two kids who seemed perfectly happy in each others embrace. Tony playfully rolled his eyes,shaking his head."and I think as your first as as mom it's your job to tell him its rude to skip out on congratulating the newly engaged couple." tony said with a snort,kissing Avery's head,giving her a soft hug

Peter smiled down at her, her reaction amusing, but her words were sweet. “That’s good, because I don’t want to keep anyone else in my arms.” he told her, his tone softer so the people standing around them couldn’t listen in on the conversation, he wouldn’t be surprised if they tried to. He threw a glance around before he looked back down at her as she spoke and cracked a smile before he laughed softly. “I’d prefer you not to, might be fun for you but I’d have a heart attack.” he said playfully before he laughed softly. He felt better after hearing her talk about it, yeah Thor was like the entire package, but Orchid and him were perfect. And she seemed to feel the same exact way as he did, which made him feel really good about it.

Avery slipped her arms around Tony as she listened to him speak. Even though she was thinking more about how she adored Tony, she was still able to listen to what he was saying. A soft chuckle escaped her lips as she looked up at him with a smile “I already knew that, that’s how I know you’ll be a wonderful dad.” she said, her tone sweet yet playful as she looked up at him. She reached up and gently brushed her thumb against his cheek with a warm gaze. She smiled again at his words, retracting her hand “Do you think he’d take to that okay? I mean, he barely knows how to function when I’m in the same room as him.” she said with a tiny laugh as she looked in Peter’s direction. She was a tiny bit worried that he wouldn’t take to her well, it did take him forever to stop referring to her as “the legal lady” which he might even still do when he’s alone, but no one would know. She looked back up at Tony whil gently biting her lower lip.

Orchid snorted,shaking her head. The girl gently pushed him back,escaping his grasp."You're a dork,like for real.I'm sure if I left you'd bounce back pretty quickly, you're an attractive guy Peter, and if half the girls at school knew you were the one behind Spider-man's mask, they'd be all over you." Orchid stated,her words were true, if the girls at school knew it was Peter behind the mask, well let's just say Orchid would have her hands full trying to keep him to herself. Bringing that up made her worry about the day Peter either revealed his identity, or it got revealed on accident. Things would change,drastically, and he would have more options in a romantic partner, prettier, smarter girls than Orchid would probably start throwing themselves at him left and right. The thought made her frown,but she shook it off when she noticed Tony and Avery seemingly headed their way, that was a discussion for a later time. She gave the two a smile,and a short wave,pecking Peter on the cheek."Congratulations on getting engaged! Uh sorry we didn't come talk to you sooner,we got a little caught up. . ." She chirped,glancing down at Avery's left hand. Her eyes widened at the sight of it. It was gorgeous,unlike anything she had ever seen before,or well more like one thing she had seen before, the ARC reactor it had been based upon. Speaking of the ARC reactor,when she looked up from Avery's ring, she noticed a very quick look cross Tony's face as he looked at Peter, a look of fatherly affection, a look that made Orchid do a double take as if she hadn't really seen it. When Tony spoke,a blush crossed her face but she didn't say anything.The girl just blinked,turning back to Avery."I don't think we ever got properly introduced last night, I'm Orchid Floraison, I go to school with Peter." she said with a bright smile,holding her hand out for the woman. She had met Tony one other occasion,ironically enough it was another time Peter had asked her for a ride to Stark Towers for his 'internship'.

A light dusting of a blush crossed his cheeks as she responded. He tried really hard to hide the fact he saw Peter as a son,though recently he let it show more,he didn't think anyone outside of the Avengers and Peter's aunt had really noticed."A wonderful dad huh? I don't know about that, I let Peter run around in a spider themed hero suit and he gets hurt just about half the time. I wouldn't call that wonderful."He let out a nervous chuckle. Tony really hoped he'd be a wonderful dad,but honestly he had already told himself he wouldn't even be a very good one but he sure was going to give it his best damn shot,he'd always wanted kids,and with Avery that was a possibility, even though he technically already had Peter as his sorta kinda adopted but not really son."I mean,he's going to have to get used to you at some point,but you're right. He still calls you the legal lady when you aren't around,y'know."Tony chuckled,taking Avery's hand once again,he intertwined their fingers and began to lead her over to the pair of teens."Come on,I'll go tell him."He stated,heading in their direction. He made sure to keep his pace slow,not wanting to interrupt their conversation,no matter how much he wanted to tease Peter. Once they made it over to them and Orchid spoke, a small smile was on his face."Thanks, at least one of you has manners."He nudged Peter,smirking."Though you do have a fine excuse,I'd have wanted to have Thor fawn over me for a while too.So,kid, when's the wedding?"He asked,clearing his throat,the mischievous smirk still on his face."Between Orchid and our local god of thunder,I mean"

Peter opened his mouth to respond but could quickly see Tony and Avery walking over, so he shut it again. That conversation was of another time, not that it was too important. He didn’t want a girl that only wanted him because of the suit. Someone that liked him for him was what was important, and Orchid was that person. He greeted the two as the got closer “Oh yeah, congrats on the engagement that you told me wasn’t happening.” he said, aiming a teasing tone in Tony’s direction before he felt his face heat up at his words. At first he thought he meant their own wedding but then huffed at the mention of Thor. “You know, that’s not going to happen. Because. Because. Well it’s just not.” he said before letting out a little laugh at himself and shook his head. He stole a glance at the girls as they spoke before back at Tony “You didn’t tell me you were going to, like, propose!” he said, almost pulling a face of “why didn’t you tell me sooner” as he said it, watching for Tony’s reaction to the statement.

Avery smiled warmly “Thank you,” she replied, looking up at Tony warmly before back at Orchid as she spoke again. She let the boys talk as they talked, but didn’t release Tony’s hand from her own. She smiled again as Orchid introduced herself and shook her hand with her own free one “It’s really nice to actually meet you. I’m Avery Tunis. I’m a defense attorney. I was Tony’s, but we kind of messed that up.” she said, the last part coming off as a joke as she let a soft laugh slip past her lips. “Do you know yet what you want to do after high school?” she asked, a slight tilt to her head. She knew they were young, but some kids had it figured out fast, unlike her. She didn’t even think about a law career until she was applying for colleges. She wanted to be a vet at first, wow how that path had changed. And, now she wouldn’t change it for anything.

Orchid gave a swift nod. She'd thought a long time about what she wanted to do, though a few other things had crossed her mind, the girl had settled on going to art school and possibly getting a job in the animation department of some big company. "I have actually! I've applied to Cal Arts to get a degree in art and maybe animation and try my shot at working for a big company. I know a couple people who've got there and they said they put in a good word for me so I've got my fingers crossed I get accepted." She explained excitedly,a grin breaking out on her face. This had been the first time she'd actually thought about what she wanted to do in a while,but as it tended to happen, the girl realized that getting accepted to Cal arts, which was all the way in California, meant leaving Peter. The thought made her stomach churn,so she tried to shove it out of her mind. Orchid thought back to what Avery had said she did. . .a defense attorney huh? One who was just out of a job? Not that she needed one now,being engaged to one of the richest people on earth. That information could come in handy later . She'd have to talk to her brother about this lady at some point. Maybe she could get him on the right track and out of having to do jail time."It probably wont pan out the way I hope it does, but it is what it is. If you dont mind me asking,how long have you known Mr.Stark?"

"What are you gonna do to stop it?Peter, I hate to break this to you,but Thor could,and would snap you in half if you got in his way and he actually wanted to marry your little girlfriend." Tony said,chuckling. He crossed his arms over his chest as Peter joke,looking away from the boy in a sheepish manner."It was honestly a spurr of the moment thing. I was down fixing your suit and Avery was there, which probably wasn't a great idea considering I got distracted a lot, and we just kinda started talking about the future and I was like let's just get engaged and she was like okay and that's how it happened. I'm sorry I didn't call you before hand and get your permission, oh lord of all things I do" he said,sarcasm heavily lacing his voice. He loved the kid,but he couldn't help and make fun of him. Tony let himself laugh a little,glancing over at the girls. They seemed to be getting along well enough,which was nice, especially since they would probably be seeing a lot more of each other now. Orchid would likely be coming around Stark Towers more and Avery was going to be living there so they were bound to run into each other at some point.

Peter snorted softly at Tony’s words, moving his arms to cross over his chest. “Thor wouldn’t do that,” he replied with a shake of his head. He wouldn’t, would he? No. He listened as Tony spoke and nodded, stealing a glance over to the girls. He had never really spoke to Avery, and assumed that now he probably should since she was going to be around a lot more. He looked back over at Tony “Well, even though you didn’t ask permission first,” he started with a fake look of annoyance “It seems like you two are happy, and she seems like a great girl.” he added, giving him a smile. He had wanted Tony to be happy, he was attached to the man as almost a father figure. And, of course, he would admit that because he lacked one of his own and Tony always put him back on his feet when he was knocked down. So he just hoped that the couple worked well together and stayed together, but he had very slim doubts about that.

Avery smiled to see the girl so excited about her future, she was glad that she was excited for it. Most kids her age could care less at this point about what happened, but it was refreshing to see a young girl who had researched and knew what she wanted. “That’s wonderful,” she told her, her voice almost holding a note of pride to it. She didn’t know the girl well, but she was kind, and she already liked her. At the mention of Tony, she almost instantly started playing with the ring around her finger as she thought. “Oh lord, numerous years.” she started, looking over at her fiancé before back at Orchid. “I was working for the company when he was still selling weapons, I had other clients- do have other clients. But, he was my big main name that I spent more time on. And, I just stayed when he dropped the company. I would have to say at least 5 years. Could be more.” she said, her eyebrows furrowed as she thought before she smiled at Orchid again after she finished speaking.

Orchid's eyes widened as she spoke about her career,never had she imagined she'd be meeting not only the Avengers,but someone who had worked so closely with one of the richest people on earth,and for so long! The raven haired girl cracked a grin."That's actually the coolest thing I've heard in a while, y'know aside from Spider-man actually being Peter behind the mask." She rubbed the back of her neck sheepishly,glancing around to make sure the boys weren't listening in on their conversation. A worried frown was on her face,and she bit her lip. The question burning in her mind was a really personal one,and yet she felt the need to ask it. It would help soothe her own worries if Avery had had the same doubts about her feelings towards Tony Orchid was having with Peter."I know we don't really know each other, and uh well this is a party and it's supposed to be happy but. . .If I can ask you a kinda personal question. . ." She trailed off,rubbing her arm. Orchid looked away from Avery for a moment,then turned her gaze back to the woman."I know our situations are a little different,you've always known Mr.Stark was behind the Iron-man mask and I just found out it was Peter behind Spider-man's after crushing on Spider-man for months, but have you ever wondered if you were just in love with one version of him rather than both?I never thought about Peter in a romantic light before now,and I think I might just be being selfish and dating him because he's Spider-man,and not because he's Peter. . ." She glanced over at Peter,worried he had heard her words. thinking about it,she hadn't talked any softer than she had been,and if the way Tony shifted his body to block Peter's view of her was any indication,they had definitely heard,or at least Tony had.

A grin was in his face in a quick second as soon as Peter basically gave his approval. It meant a lot to the man that he had."She's wonderful, Peter, you don't even know. I'm surprised I got this far without her. I did have Cap to keep me on track but honestly we fought like an old married couple, I don't quite think he counts."He glanced over at Steve,who was being forced to chase Clint's kids around. Tony let a laugh escape his lips,but it didn't last too long. His eyes flicked over to Orchid and Avery, the grin slipping off his lips into a frown. The man smoothly shifted his body, hoping to block Peter's view of Orchid,as if that would keep the boy from hearing the girls concerns. Tony had expected something along the lines of this to happen at some point, but he hoped it would have at least waited until Peter wasn't actually around,but he guessed Orchid wasn't the type to let things sit and fester. He admired that in the girl,taking care of her problems as soon as possible, but now was not the time to be taking care of said problem. He also didn't quite like the fact she had asked Avery. Sure, Avery was honestly probably the best person to ask,maybe one of the only people, but it rubbed Tony the wrong way. Maybe he just didn't want to hear her answer,that was really it. He cleared his throat,looking at Peter with a forced smile."So, I'm thinking about when it comes down to planning the wedding details, that we theme the colors after yours truly, red and gold for Iron-man,what do you think?"He asked quickly,trying to keep Peter's attention off Orchid,but he was probably failing,miserably

Peter smiled as he listened to Tony speak, an amused smiled that was. He was about to reply before he heard Orchid ask to talk about something personal, and instantly he was all ears. Being nosy, of course. What else was new. But, this one had been a bad idea to listen to. He should’ve listened to Tony and stopped eavesdropping when he told him to. His gaze hit the ground at her words, his heart skipping several beats. This was what he worried about. That she didn’t actually want him for him, she only wanted him for the spider mask. What if she actually didn’t love him? He looked back up at Tony as he spoke, faking his best look of amusement, but probably just looked like he was in pain. “Don’t you think that’s a little self centered?” he managed out, ending the joke with his best fake laugh. He tried to push his spiraling thoughts from his mind, but it didn’t help that they were now out of earshot. That he had no idea what was going to come of it. What if she just ended it all after tonight?

Avery chuckled softly “It was really cool at first, but now I’m used to it, they’re just a bunch of dorks.” she said with an amused smile before her face had become more serious at Orchid’s words. She glanced at the boys, glad Tony had moved to shield Peter, but figured she’d do more and lead Orchid away to talk about how she was feeling. “I uh..” she stumbled awkwardly before wrapping a guiding arm around Orchid’s shoulders “Let’s go over here.” she murmured before leading her away, wanting to get her out of Peter’s earshot. “Sure, I was star struck at the beginning with him being Iron Man, but that was years ago. There has been this.. tension. Attraction. Between us for so long, I fell in love with Tony, not his iron suit. You just need to be able to think about how you feel about Peter. Do you love Peter? Or do you love the idea of his persona? His superhero persona?” she asked, looking at the girl. She didn’t really ever feel the need to question her own feelings, she loved Tony for Tony, then again she had known who he was from the beginning.

Orchid bit her lip as Avery led her away. She listened quietly as the woman spoke,avoiding her gaze. When she finished,Orchid timidly looked up but said nothing. What was she supposed to say? Her feelings were all jumbled and the fact that Avery had led her away in the first place meant Peter had most certainly heard what she had said. She cringed, this had been a mistake. It had not been the time to bring this up and she was paying the price. Her mind was racing,thoughts jumbled. She shook her head,trying to focus a bit. She had fallen for Spider-man all that time ago,not Peter. But knowing who he was behind the mask,and that he had had a crush on her for seemingly about the same amount of time she had been crushing on his persona if not longer. Her mind and heart were telling her two different things. Her mind was screaming that she didn't really love Peter, while her heart was softly telling her that no matter what,she loved Peter, Spider-man and all, it was telling her that even if she hadn't found out Peter was under the mask, at some point she would have realized where her true feelings laid and chosen Peter instead. With a deep breath to calm herself and collect her thoughts,Orchid decided that in matters of love it was best to follow what your heart told you, but she was still just as conflicted as before. Choosing to follow her heart hadn't fixed her conflicted emotions, or the problem at hand like she had thought it would. Oh no,if anything she was even more confused. The thoughts of her only liking Peter for who he was when he had the suit on were still there,and if anything they were louder than before. Tears rimmed her eyes,beginning to flow down the sides of her cheeks.She looked in Peter's direction,forcing herself not to sob."I re-really don't know. . ." she managed a those few simple words without fully stumbling over them.

"Of course it is,but it's my wedding right? I'm sure Avery would be fine with it" He joked,trying to lightening the mood. He glanced back.over,seeing Avery lead Prchid a distance away.Tony clenched his right hand into a fist,forcing himself to calm down. He honestly was in protective dad mode and really just wanted to scream at Orchid for being a complete idiot and hurting his poor boy,but that wasn't what the situation called for. He took a deep breath and willed himself to calm down. Things would be alright, they'd get it figured out. Avery was a smart,wonderful woman, she could deal with Orchid's little crisis, and he could deal with consoling Peter, it was his job after all. Tony shook his head and placed a hand on Peter's shoulder trying to comfort him."Look,kid, just be glad she's asking herself this question now rather than a couple months from now when you're down on one knee with an expensive ring in your hands. Granted I wish her existential crisis would have waited until later but,it is what it is. If you want my two sense on the whole thing, I think she's just scared, scared she's gonna mess your relationship up because she fell in love with Spidey before you. Sure maybe you being behind the mask had something to do with her feelings for you clicking into place,but I highly doubt that's all it is. I've seen the way she looks at you, Pete, there's no way that girl sees you as just a friend. And if I recall, she didn't yell out for Spider-man when she got into trouble the other night, who was it she called for? Oh ya, you." he have Peter an annoyed look,like seriously kid. Tony looked back over at Orchid and Avery,then back to Peter with a pointed look."Now,you cam either do one of two things. Either A, stay here and wait for her to come to her senses or not come to her senses and break up with you, or B, you can go over there, sweep her off her feet with some grand gesture of love and show her she does love you and not sure your persona and that you love her.Its up to you kid."

Peter listened to Tony speak, looking down at the ground again, unsure. His thoughts were fighting in his head as to whether she was just worried she’d mess it up or that she was actually confused. “I-I don’t have your confidence, Tony. I can’t just walk over there and hope for the best.” he said finally, looking up at his pseudo father. “It took me forever to tell her that I even had feelings for her. And that was after she kissed me.” he said, squeezing his eyes closed. He glanced over in their direction, before looking down again. He was worried that if walked over there, he’d just making everything worse, which wasn’t at all what he wanted. His heart felt like it was going to explode, and his brain felt all... crowded and clogged up with thoughts.

Who would you want to be by your side?” she added, stealing a glance back at Tony, her gaze softening before looking back at the girl beside her. She knew the answer, it would be Peter. Not Spider-Man. She wouldn’t be calling Spider-Man if she got in a fight with her mom and needed consoling, it would be Peter. She watched her closely, searching her face. Surely this would help her know that answer, because even Avery knew the answer. “If the answer is Peter to those questions, Orchid, then it’s Peter you love. Not the mask.” she murmured softly, her tone warm and kind.
