Daniel smiled at her playful tone, thinking for a second, "Um-" "Is someone serving you two already?" a man asked, the waiter looking his roomate up and down.

Daniel squinted at him, somehow feeling fumed and angry at his presence, the man made him uneasy, "Because I wouldn't mind serving you..Lindo" he flirted, Daniel sitting back in the booth unfazed as he crossed his arm, an annoyed expression on his face. "We're being served, already, thank you though" he said, keeping his tone soft and polite, offering the man a fake smile. The man returned a look of disgust, Daniels face falling in confusion, "Oh, so you're with this..guy" he spat, unamused and annoyed as he looked at Daniel, Daniel quite offended.

Kat looked up as she felt the presence beside her, narrowing her eyes at the guy’s look. She had gotten it many times before, it wasn’t unusual. Sometimes it flattered her, and sometimes she just wasn’t in the mood to deal with it. And, this was one of those times. “I’d much rather you not,” she said, her voice coming out sharp and annoyed. She furrowed her brow at his insult aimed at Daniel, crossing her arms over her chest. “Hey, jerk. Get the hint. I’m not interested. Why don’t you scurry off and “help” someone else.” she snapped, clearly annoyed by the guy’s words.

Daniel couldn't help but smile at her courage, looking at the man, "Well, were you waiting for us to pull out a megaphone to dismiss you? Or are you just deaf?" he asked, not too rudely as it wasn't his nature.

That was honestly one of the rudest things he'd ever said, "I'm sorry!" he squeaked, "Just please don't bother us, I'm trying to get to know my new friend, so could you give me a break?" he asked more politely, the man rolling his eyes and throwing daniel a disgusted look, walking off. Daniel looked at her, a bit embarrassed, "I don't like it when guys do that to girls, it isn't nice at all, and I don't think cat calling helps either. Unfortunately you must get it a lot? You are quite..pretty" he admitted, trying to be polite, he would've said attractive or even beautiful but he didn't want to make her any more upset then the guy had. He looked down in embarrassment, his cheeks turning rosy.

Kat smiled a little at Daniel’s quick apology, finding it quite cute that he wanted to be nice to even that rude guy. She shrugged and shook her head in response to his words “Unfortunately, I’m all too familiar with situations like that.” she said with a soft sigh before she smiled up at him once more. “But, I’m not about to let that wreck our meal.” she added.

Daniel frowned as she told him that she was too familiar with these things. "But you shouldn't have to be-it isn't far to you, I'd sympathise but I don't exactly get a lot of....compliments" he admitted sheepishly.

He nodded along, "Why yes, there is in no way that he'll ruin our meal, the chocolate chip pancakes will do us well" he promised in a british accent, sipping from his water like tea before offering her a small laugh. He couldn't help but notice the man eyeing her, catching his glance Daniel sent him a small look, the man raising his eyebrows and motioning him over. Daniel let out a shaky sigh, "I'm gonna head to the..bathroom, I'll be back" he promised, showcasing his small tooth gap before exiting the booth and heading over to the bathroom hall where the man had walked, out of view from the girl. The man immediately slammed him up against the wall, his eyes widening as his hands immediately came around his wrists in worry, "Don't talk like that to me boy, especially in front of a fine girl" the man hissed, "I'm-I'm sorry, but I don't think she's interested" he couldn't help but blurt, earning a quick punch to the face. The kind, gentle, oh so sweet boy gripped the mans wrists, twisting them inwards before slamming him against the opposite wall, grabbing his shirt and bringing his face close, "I don't like to be mean, it isn't me, trust me tough guy. You come in here cat calling my friend, I can deal with it, I don't care much, but once you put hands on me you better regret it" he warned lowly, the man instantly nodding out of fear while he forcefully held him against the wall. "Now please, don't ever talk like that to any woman again" he let out calmly, letting go of him and straightening his collar before smiling at him, "I'm glad we could talk it out"

Kat shrugged at his words, she agreed, the guys talking to her the way that that one had was annoying and made her flustered sometimes. But, today she was able to just brush it off. "Okay, hurry back!" she responded slightly teasingly before she took out her phone to scroll on while he was gone. She watched him disappear from sight before going back to her phone. She was glad that her new roommate was cool, even if it might only be for a little while. They got along, and he was nice, so she could see it working out well. Hopefully. It hadn't even been 24 hours, but something about him made her think that they would definitely get along well.

Daniel walked back to the booth, slight purple discoloration on his cheekbone from where the man had hit him. He sighed, sitting down and immediately folding his shaky hands. He offered her a small smile, seeing as their food had already arrived as they were gone. He looked at the pancakes, "Let's make a deal, I eat all of my pancake first and I get to take you to my favourite place-you finish first and you get bragging rights and you can suggest whatever you want to do for the afternoon" he offered with a goofy smile, attempting to change the subject before she could question him about how long he was in the washroom and why there was a small bruise on his face.

Kat smiled and adjusted how she was sitting as Daniel came back into view, placing her phone down and away so that it wouldn’t distract her. She narrowed her eyes slightly at the sudden spot that had appeared on his face, was that there before? If she asked what happened, and it had been there for weeks, would it seem stupid that she was asking. She smiled and nodded along to his challenge “You are so on,” she replied with a small chuckle. She dressed her pancakes and started to cut them before throwing him a stray glance “But first, you have to tell me how that bruise suddenly appeared.” she told him after deciding that it wasn’t there before, her eyes gleamed playfully as she looked at him.

Daniel smiled at her challenging look, before frowning. "I don't know if I wanna tell you" he went on sheepishly, what could go wrong with telling her though? It wouldn't be too bad? hey that guy from before toughened me up but I like talked to him and maybe threatened him and he'll never come back. he thought to himself. Jesus that sounds bad. he shrugged, deciding to come clean, "Okay, so first, before I tell you-don't be mad-or worried-or anything but how you are right now" he warned playfully, smiling at her. "So remember that guy from earlier? Yeah well...he like, called me over, so I went-stupidly" he admitted, playing with his hands, "And he just asked about you, but I didn't really like how he was talking about you, so I told him to cut it out and he roughened me up a bit" he shrugged, "But I'm good, I swear" he finished, leaving out the part where he threatened him and like threw him against the wall, but he was still visibly tensed so he wouldn't be surprised if she guessed that wasn't all.

Kat watched him as he spoke, her brows furrowing curiously as he said not to get mad. She ate some of her pancakes as he spoke before her eyebrows rose. “Jesus, Daniel. You could’ve been really hurt.” she said, her tone laced with worry, but her eyes were still playful and kind. She shook her head “But, I have a feeling that’s not all?” she said, but it came out as more of a question. She eyed him curiously, wondering what else had happened. She could almost tell that he was keeping in more information by the look in his eyes, and she wanted to know what it was.
