Discussion about the Pets, Items, Dress-ups, Events, Site, Forum or other CS features!

Hi all! I've got a discussion question about how a category should be dealt with and it's felt that this should be open to community input, so that's what we're doing.
Should retired store items be included as a requirement for a complete item collection?
It's worth noting quickly that in 2017 a similar discussion was held - however some community wide attitudes have changed since then that I'll elaborate on below.
So for starters, as of right now the CS World Record for complete CS collection DOES NOT include store pets. The reason that store pets aren't and won't ever be rereleased is because a) it wouldn't be fair to those that have paid real money for them, and b) they aren't considered (by Tess).
I'm of the opinion that specifically store items should be regarded in the same light - retired items that you had to pay for but are no longer available should not count towards a complete collection. They are no longer realistically achievable for all players (even moreso than retired store pets in some cases) and it feels disingenuous to tell new players at once that they both need these items for a complete collection, but also that there will, one day, never be any way to achieve them.
The person I was discussing this with (whom I won't name unless they don't mind being named) brought up the following counterargument:
"This [not being rereleased] could be said for any past event item since they are also never re-released. Also the forum is from what I understood a players forum not an official site forum."
I'd argue that while this is true, in a more realistic sense, it will probably only be the items that costed money years ago that will ever stagnate into absolute economical obscurity.
Said player also offered up a suggestion: have separate categories, one for complete item collection, and another for complete item collection + retired store items. If we were to do this, I'd probably introduce a similar category for pets (complete collection and complete collection + store pets). This would be my preferred way for settling the issue, but again, I'd like some more community input now that the scope of what a complete collection is has changed a bit!
Anyone at all can feel free to drop their input in. Ideally I'd love a range of opinions from both newer and older users before deciding on anything. I'll leave the categories as they are right now until a decision is made!

I would rather see 2 separate lists one to include store items/pets and one where they are not included. This way newer players who feel that store items/pets are unattainable have a realistic goal they can work for and those who have gone further to collect all of the store pets/items have their own placement as well. Once someone makes the non store list they can then decide if they want to go for the other list. I was part of the original discussion and I at that point had a complete item list minus only 4 items and still could not be added until I got them which took a lot of time, over 2 more years. I would have been fine being on a separate list back then & I would have still worked to get the last 4 items.

Store pts arent part of a complete collection, store items arent.
So i dont consider retired store items as part of a complete collection either.
I am fine with 2 categories
Complete item collection
Complete collection incl store items

I'm for two category too.
Complete free collection and complete free and store collection (maybe as "ultimate" collection?). Because it is absolutely same with store pets. You can not buy them anymore and they wont released ever again.
Once as is something in archive, it should be count as part of collection. But I understand that not everyone can buy store items/pets and therefore there could be two category for both.

- Complete collection
- Complete ultimate collection (or something like that)

Personally, i don't really care either way but my 2 cents;
Tess can state that some pets don't count towards a complete collection, that doesn't automatically make it true. (in the same length as how some pets are named by their creators but are named differently on the forum. majority goes). Store pets have always counted to complete, because the goal is to get -all- pets. All pets that are in the archive count in my opinion, and i feel the same with items. Is it really a challenge if things get excluded? It's not supposed to be an easy achievement.
However, i can understand that in the same line as customs, un-achievable pets and items (such as retired store) means that the achievement will become unreachable as time goes by.
Including both a -with- and -without- achievable items in this list seems fine to me. I wouldn't go about giving it fancy names. Just a simple 'complete collection' and 'complete collection without unreachable pets/items' with a clear list of which pets/items are excluded in that collection should be fine.
where do you draw the line? What do you and don't you include? and who decides what gets included and what doesn't?
- Store items that are easily accessible. You only have to collection the C$ to buy all? is that really worth excluding?
- Free items that are unreachable. like garlands, toxic egg, cake set. Do these count? because then what does splitting up really mean?
- All store pets dont count, even the rare or easily achievable ones?
- do other omg so rare pets count? after all, those arent easily achieved either, think of sunback or ur tiger dog.
Again, i personally view a complete collection as having any and all pets/items that are in the archive. All green v's. I do get that it's nearly impossible to do that now or at some point in the future. Either way, i think anyone can decide for themselves what a complete collection is. as long as the categories are clear and show what people need to have to make the list i'd say go for it!

I'm a fairly new player, so the memory of how giant the amount of things you -don't- have is, is still rather fresh in my mind. That's not to say everything should just be given to new players or be made easy to achieve. It should be -possible- to achieve, though - with patience and a bit of "work". Otherwise it will be disheartening to many people, not just newbies.
So personally, I think it would be best to exclude retired store items from the complete collection achievement and to offer a seperate achievement for "complete collection of retired store items" (without the need to have a complete "standard" collection, because it sounds like it's really hard to achieve anyways).

I’m with the two different option ideas. As an item collector, trying to get retired store items is extremely hard.

I agree with this idea. If the first group excludes retired store items then it should also exclude current store items just how the complete pet collection is treated.
