I smoothed out my dress, nervous. Why had a lord wanted me to visit him? I was nothing compared to a lord. My family was rich enough, but not that rich. Not rich enough to have a lord interested in us. In me. What made me so special? I had no idea, but I was going to find out.

As soon as I arrived at Bulerton Castle I had first been shown to my rooms and then, later, been summoned by the lord. He had wanted to meet me. I was told that he would be waiting downstairs in the main parlor. I hurried to that spot, not wanting to keep the lord waiting.

He stood there, tall and handsome, confident and proud, just as any other lord. When he saw me, his looked me over once and then held out his hand. I placed my hand in his and he kissed it. "It's nice to meet you Miss Harroway," he said.

"Please, call me Lizabel," I said, withdrawing my hand.

We came back to the gate of the castle, victorious. Five deer, ten birds, six squirrels, three rabits, and one large bear. This woud keep the castle busy for a while.

I, of course, wouldn't be needing any of it. My diet only consisted of blood. No, this was only for the sport of it.

A grin spread across my face as I thought of how all the others had envied my catching the bear. It had been all luck. I had been meaning to shoot down one of the deer when the bear suddenly attacked the deer. My arrow immediately bedded itself into the neck of the bear in place of the deer. Of course, that one small arrow hadn't been enough to take down the bear, so it had come to forget the deer and attack me in its place. What a wrestle it had been! Of course I had broked my arm in the kill (it had landed on it somehow) but a visit to the castle's witch, Falla, would cure the injury in no time. What a laugh we would all be having later about the catch!

Why was it that they always called on me when they needed as much as an cut stitched or a broken wrist mended? They healed fast enough, couldn't they just be patient and wait? I emitted a sigh. One of these days....

I found the infirmary and entered, looking for Brigan. That man had no self-preservation instincts what-so-ever. I saw him at least once a month for silly and easily prevented injuries.

I sighed again as I found him, talking to one of the healing women. She was helping him bandage up his wound. "I'll take it from here," I told the woman, and, startled, she nodded and walked off, wide eyed. I knew that I should have been proper and done the whole "Good day, my lord" while curtsying thing. I just didn't have the energy or the mood today.

"What was it, this time? I asked as I finished bandaging up his arm.
