─── // ♛ ❜ // EMBERHAZE ── // i. female ii. 38 moons iii. warrior iv. no apprentice v. single vi. form○○○○○○○○○○──────────────────○○○○○────────────────────────○○○○○○ the she-cat had been in the middle of grooming her ruddy fur when the deputy comes over and asks her to take a pair of other cats for a border patrol. emberhaze flattens her ears a bit, of course she'd get stuck with the two toms who prefer to be buddies with everyone. though she's not really against having friends in the clan, she's just not interested in all the idle chatter that takes place. silence seems to be a virtue many cats in the clan lack. emberhaze doesn't even get to agree or disagree before finchcloud leaves to put together a small hunting patrol. how annoying to be placed on border patrol when she's clearly one of the better hunters. the female grumbles to herself and gets to her feet where she shakes out her fiery pelt. before she can step from her den, badgerstar appears, stalking over as if in a bad mood. which he probably is knowing him.
it was a curious thing when he declares his intentions to join her patrol and gives her a half-second pause before she shrugs indifferently. "suit yourself, we're checking the northern border first," she mutters, clearly not one for really speaking. it's just a waste of time for her since she's often out hunting alone where there's no need for talking. emberhaze glares at the rain before trudging out into it once more, one day her pelt will be dry, just not today. she moves quickly towards the warrior den to search for the other toms that were to join her, but only finds duskthicket near it. "border patrol, let's go." she all but snaps at the tom, her mood turning rather foul at the fact that she's in the rain and having to do a border patrol with three toms she couldn't care less for. emberhaze doesn't even slow her walking pace as she orders duskthicket, she just keeps walking while searching for cherrycloud. once spotted, she veers in his direction and does the same snappish order while not even pausing to wait for him. "border patrol, hurry up." the she-cat doesn't bother waiting for the others, she's got a mission to accomplish and she will do so with or without their help. her ruddy pelt disappears into he forest as she heads for the northern border, it's easier to start there and work around since the patrol will end by the now raging creek and the camp so they won't have to backtrack or cut through the forest to return.

NightPaw
female- crush: TimberPaw- Strait - Apprentice - tags: Honeybee, TimberPaw
NightPaw noticed TimberPaw smile at her.
She watched him go with his mentor. She
once again wished they could train together
but you can’t always get what you want.
NightPaw turned her attention back to Honeybee.
She listened to what her mentor had to say.
“Ok, I can try hunting.” “But I swear I’m starting
to turn into a fish!” She said as she caught up
with her mentor. They were almost at the patch
at the top. NightPaw sniffed the air and she only
caught a stale scent of mouse. Maybe shrew or vole.
“I don’t know, the mouse is-” just then a small
figure came into her vision. It was very small and
scrawny. Not to mention soaked with water.
Mouse! She quickly got in the hunting position
and kept her tail low. With one hard swipe she had
the mouse. “Honeybee, I got one.” She said to her
mentor. “But it will hardly feed a apprentice.”
She felt upset that she couldn’t catch a bigger mouse
but she guessed it was “okay” considering that prey
was scarce. It was very scrawny. Honesty, it didn’t
have a chance.

Buzzardfeather finished assessing the herb storage. Borage was particularly low, and so was feverfew and horsetail. Standing up, she padded over to her apprentice. "Nettlepaw." She began before pausing and continuing. "We'll need to go searching for borage, feverfew, and horsetail later. Even in this weather." She sighed. Buzzardfeather understood her apprentices limitations, but surely he'd be up for it. "There's also something else." She added, before lowering her voice so only he could hear her. "I had a vision recently."

xxxxxxThe apprentice stiffened slightly at the broken silence before settling back down again once he found it was simply his mentor. Buzzardfeather was one of the few cats in the camp he could partially stand to be around, unlike the learned patience he had with the rest of his clan, her utter willingness to help might slowly be rubbing off on the unruly apprentice. Turning his gaze towards the tortie molly so similar in pattern to himself, but her comments never fell on deaf ears with Nettlepaw. "Even in this weather-" He echoed back quietly, the piles in his line of sight almost embarrassingly low. He knew going out into this weather was imminent, it's not as if he could get away with staying inside the den all day, counting herbs and listening to passing conversations.
xxxxxxNettlepaw noticeably perked up at the sound of the words 'I had a vision recently'. He was debating asking about a certain striped creature but found himself wondering if his bitter apathy towards such a creature had started seeping into his thoughts as well, an all too fitting figment of his imagination for such weather. The chance that the molly across from him might have been experiencing such things too was an early sigh of relief for the young cat. His tone too was muted as the pattering rain outside did enough to cover their voices well, "A vision?" he mumbled, a flick of the tail accompanying the query.

xxxxxxThe sudden appearance of the seal-point deputy caught her off guard, her legs sliding halfway into a defensive pose before it clicked who was in front of her, straightening up and greeting him with a curt nod before relaxing back into a normal stance, her now dripping tail gently grazing the grass beneath her paws. A short acknowledgment of his request to join for patrol and she glanced around to note a couple of other warriors still grazing around the clearing, either trying to wait out the rain or organizing their own patrols. Padding a few tail-lengths behind the tom she sees where he seems to be headed.
xxxxxxShe brightly greets the warrior even with the harsh weather making everything seem a lot more dull than usual, she always enjoyed being around the fellow molly in her eyes a nice presence in the oftentimes quiet and monotonous clan life. Plumwillow liked to look past the rough edges of her clanmate and even if she got into trouble a lot she was still nice to be around. Her musings were cut short when a particularly large drop landed directly onto her face and in return she silently cursed at the seemingly constantly dark sky.
/Cedarwatch

/one. cedarwatch two. thirty-five moons three. molly ─

xxxxxxCedarwatch snapped back the second the older molly had addressed her and was left a little tongue-tied in such a moment, her green orbs flickered with something or confusion for a split second before she could compose herself. Her gaze flicking from Morningfern to the barrier and back to the she-cat standing next to her. A short stutter and a reply of, "Ah! The river is simply worrisome" and a toothy grin a cat of such nature could provide. The battering rams of the rain hadn't ceased at all in the time she had been worrying about the slowly rising river of the camp, something nagging at the back of her mind and filling every thought when she had a spare second to even think. Turning her attention to the couple of cats back where she assumed the now soaking black cat, vaugely making out the forms of Honeybee and Nightpaw she set quickly on working to tidy the materials before she took off after the small group.
xxxxxx The tabby molly flitted behind the group quietly, having had to take a moment to address a particularly bothersome branch entangled in her thick fur. A quick apology to her group and she fell back into step with them.

"Yes. A vision." Buzzardfeather said, still keeping her voice low. For a moment she considered whether to share all the details or not. She quickly shook that thought away. Of course she should. He was her apprentice, after all. "It started with a badger shaking a tree. The creek started to flood, and the badger was eventually washed away." She sighed, looking at the calico tom. I'm not sure yet, but I think it may have been referring to Badgerstar." She finished, lowering her voice to barely a whisper.

as the patrol pushed through the cascading rain, badgerstar subconsciously took up the rear. he inhaled deeply, relishing in the scents of the forest, and feeling relief as he felt the thick grass and shrubbery beneath his paws. he wordlessly followed the patrol as they passed by the creek, daring to peer past the bramble and stone barrier. his heart lurched as he saw that the water had begun to trickle about a tail-length through the barrier and toward the camp. badgerstar couldn't understand why he felt so anxious about this; surely it was just a bad flood that would pass soon? swallowing his fear away, he cleared his throat. "the flood has broken past the barrier." the long-furred black tom announced to the patrol gruffly, making sure his voice sounded steady and didn't betray the panic he felt rising in his throat. i'm going to have to address this when we get back to camp. badgerstar noted to himself mentally.

honeybee shook her head quickly at nightpaw's self doubts. "it's better than nothing, nightpaw. with this weather and scarcity of prey, the fact that you managed to find anything is brilliant!" honeybee praised, beginning to dig a shallow hole so nightpaw could bury her prey. "bury the mouse here for now, and we'll see if we can-" honeybee's instruction was cut off as she heard rustling nearby. honeybee lowered her body, perking her ears to listen. the rustling sounded again, and honeybee spotted the source of the sound: a young thrush. it looked as though it was still learning to fly, and it wasn't doing too well in the rain. honeybee turned to nightpaw. "alright," honeybee whispered to her apprentice, flicking her tail toward the thrush, which was currently sitting under the cover of a holly bush. "it's small, but like i said earlier, prey is prey is prey in this weather." honeybee breathed. "we can work together on this one: i want you to quietly make your way behind the bush without startling the thrush. then, since you won't be able to squeeze beneath the bush, i want you to scare the thrush out of it and toward my direction." the small white-and-cream she-cat explained softly to her apprentice.

─── // ♛ ❜ // EMBERHAZE ── // i. female ii. 38 moons iii. warrior iv. no apprentice v. single vi. form○○○○○○○○○○──────────────────○○○○○────────────────────────○○○○○○ since she had been deemed the leader of the patrol, and badgerstar had resigned to just follow along, the she-cat was at the front of the little group. her ears twitch and move around as she walks the trail to the border, sometimes twitching spastically to rid raindrops from the tips. as they pass the creek, emberhaze doesn't bother to check the water level considering she had just seen it earlier during her solo hunting. an ear twists back as badgerstar pipes up from the back of the group, announcing what is obvious to her and everyone else who checks the creek. seems like he doesn't check it very often if this is a surprise. unable to bite her tongue, emberhaze gives a humorless snort. "you don't say?" she says in a rather sarcastic manner, keeping her walking pace as she speaks. "what do you think would happen when it rains for weeks on end? that much water doesn't just disappear." it may not be wise to sass a leader known for his temper and claws, but in the forest, she was quite confident. the tom may be strong in the ways of fighting, but ember was wise in the ways of climbing. it would be an easy feat to bolt away and get up a tree before the tom can land a blow. besides, he could use a good sassing once in a while, keeps him on his toes.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━❝ MORNINGFERN ❞━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━large solid black molly w/ green eyes - warrior - 45 moons
loc; hunting patrol tags; honeybee, nightpaw & cedarwatch
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
xxxxxxxxThe large molly lead the group through the brush, whiskers twitching sending raindrops splattering towards the ground. She inhaled deeply and found only the sodden earth, until her eyes finally caught on a trembling vole, it's brown pelt sticking to it's plump sides. It heaved and trembled, each splatter of water threatened to topple it's perch. It hadn't had enough time to hide properly before spotting her companions. However it hadn't had spotted her, as it's gaze was focused heavily on honeybee and nightpaw a few fox leaps away. In two strides morningfern had her jaws clamped around the squirming vole and had ended it's life as quickly as she had spotted it. Now limp in her jaws she returned her gaze to her hunting patrol. Honeybee and nightpaw were fixed on something near a hollybush. They were clearly hunting so morningfern stepped back a few paces, in hopes of keeping herself quiet enough to not threaten whatever lay unaware under the bush. This was more luck than she had had all morning.. The scent of the vole as she gently set it down at her paws sent her mouth watering.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━❝ FLEETSTRIKE ❞━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━brown classic tabby tom w/ green eyes - warrior - 47 moons
loc; camp tags; hawkpaw, open
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
xxxxxxxxThe tom let out a soft huff at her easy dismissal of the argument. He blinked calmly, her retorts were far from friendly. Then again the rain had everyone on edge.. "Well if nothing important is happening here, what do you say we get a start on training?" he asked sending her a bit of a smirk. "unless you've other things to do." he added his green eyes gleaming. He was hoping to start with some hunting lessons, primarily because the rain would make it a welcome challenge for his apprentice. However it looked as if most cats were already favoring hunting as opposed to remaining in the soggy camp. "Perhaps we should start a bit of sparring? Or maybe you'd like to track for a bit, it should be a challenge in the rain.." He offered her with a curious tilt of his head. The snappy female was certainly a handful. His tolerance when it came to her was limitless though some may call him foolish. He wasn't one to command respect, he merely did as he had to do. Why on earth this lazy tom was chosen to be a mentor was beyond any cat's mind. He was a mentor, and would behave as such. He decided for now to allow her a chance at choosing, if she was indifferent he'd settle for sparring. As that'd be a bit more fun with the mud about and would likely give his apprentice an advantage over himself. Should she be wise enough to use it. She hadn't had eaten recently and her hunger prowled in her belly. She averted her gaze from the vole, attempting to distract herself so that she wasn't tempted to break the rules of the clan.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━❝ BRINDLEPAW ❞━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━brown tiger tabby tom w/ gold eyes - apprentice - 11 moons
loc; camp tags; scorchheart, open
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
xxxxxxxxThe tom gave merely a grunt in reply. "alright, I guess there's no harm in trying to spar with you for now.." he muttered turning his sharp gold gaze on his mentor. He watched his mentor's cold features for a moment before finally averting his own gaze. He had learned quickly not to take his mentor's aloofness personally. He was like that with everyone, however when he looked at nightpaw and honeybee all he saw was jealousy. The way they interacted, the way they spoke easily among one another. Brindlepaw's gaze hardened and he clenched his jaw turning his gaze away from his fellow apprentice and her mentor. This is what it was going to take to be a warrior. Brindlepaw would need to rise above petty friendships and kindness if he was to prove himself the best. His maw curved into a scowl as he turned his eyes once again to his mentor. Brindlepaw knew he didn't care, he'd make his life a nightmare if he wanted too and brindlepaw would be powerless to stop it. With a ruthless leader like badgerstar, brindlepaw knew there would be no salvation should he fail to keep up with his mentor. However he refused to let that thought stall him, his ambition drove brindlepaw most days. Though he was careful to conceal his emotions around those that were not his fellow apprentices, he would slip now and again. Snapping a retort or growling a complaint, only to come back teeth and claws later. He refused to bite the dust now, he was far too close to possibly being a warrior.

badgerstar felt his pelt bristle at emberhaze's sarcastic retort. he bared his teeth, and opened his jaws to say something, but no words came. instead, a growl rumbled deep in his throat. after a moment, badgerstar hissed, "you're insufferable, emberhaze. any more sarcasm from you, and i'll drown you in that fox-hearted flood myself," although he knew very well that the ruddy-colored warrior didn't fear him. ever since he and emberhaze were apprentices and young warriors, they had always seemed to be butting heads. she had a sharp-tongue and quick wits, while badgerstar was full of anger and had a lack of temper. despite their constant arguments and spats, though, badgerstar couldn't bring himself to resent the she-cat. he had to admit he enjoyed having someone as grouchy and grumbly as himself in camp. emberhaze was someone he could relate to, not to mention she was a fierce and skilled warrior: just what creekclan needed. a valuable asset. probably better suited to be the deputy, but she hasn't mentored an apprentice. he thought to himself. "anyway, we need to find an alternative option to barriers, because finchcloud's brilliant idea of using bramble and stone isn't working anymore." badgerstar continued irritably. just like i said: it was a waste of time. he added privately.

Nightpaw
Female - crush: TimberPaw - tags: Honeybee -
“Ok!”she whispered as she quickly dropped her
prey in the hole. She padded quitetly over right where her
mentor had said. She waited for Honeybee to
give a signal. Now! She gave a small scare
to the thrush. So far the plan was working. It
was going right into Honeybee’s paws. The thrush
looked young and it also looked unable to fly.
NightPaw felt small pity for the young thrush. But
prey was prey. It was the circle of life. If it didn’t
die than they would. The thrush was trying to fly.
It definitely couldn’t. Any moment now Honeybee
would jump out and they would have two decent
pieces of prey. She just realized that her mentor
was right. The bush was to small. The first thing
that NightPaw would have done would be to try
to squeeze under the bush. NightPaw was glad
she was with her.
