However, things have changed. After working for them for centuries, many dogs grew tired of the twolegs and decided to lead their own lives. Following a brutal fight for their independence, they abandoned their cities and began living in the wild. One such case regarded the ancestors of the Forest Territory Packs, which still thrive in that Forest Territory, even today, as five distinct groups:

ThunderPack, RiverPack, ShadowPack, WindPack, and SkyPack.

Despite the inspiring origins and overall success of the Forest Territory Packs, not all is well. Each is badly plagued by the competition that the other four Packs offer, and the majority of dogs don't even see a purpose as to why; they believe that the others contribute nothing to their survival and should be wiped out of their beautiful forest. It's hard to blame them, too, given hazards like starvation, pup-eaters, and strangers being dangerous enough on their own.

R u l e s

The following rules pertain to the Discord server, which is available to join HERE.

1. CS rules apply, see HERE.

2. Please keep OOC (out-of-character) chat confined to the OOC Socialization category and RP posts to the roleplay channels.

3. Basic Warrior Cats rules apply. This roleplay is essentially Warrior Cats, but with dog characters instead of cat ones. Thus, warriors are expected to follow the Warrior Code by their packmates, Pack members are named according to the Warrior Cats naming system, etc. In-universe rules may be altered or added in the interest of making the society more dog-like. Side note: In relation to naming, omegas have the suffix "-maw" (ex: Ravenmaw).

4. Each person may only have three characters of high rank (alpha, beta, medicine dog, medicine dog apprentice), and they must be of different Packs. Also, avoid making multiple characters of the same high rank (using each of the three high ranking slots for an alpha character, for example).

5. Most characters should be crossbreeds.

6. Please be logical when considering the outcome of fights (ex: don't have an inexperienced corgi apprentice defeating a seasoned Rottweiler warrior).

7. The mother of pups determines what roleplayers will be them and the alpha (or a mod if there is no alpha or, secondarily, a beta, available) determines which warriors will mentor pups that have just become apprentices. However, no roleplayer's apprentice character can be mentored by their own warrior character.

8. Exotic/wild dog breeds (wolfdogs, dingos, African Wild Dogs, etc.) are permitted, but make sure to consult a mod before making the character to ensure it's still fine, and always keep them sparing. No purebred wolves or coyotes, either.

9. Reservations last for no longer than two days.

10. "Ideal breeds" should be valued by their corresponding Packs as potential members more than others and they should make up the majority of their population. 11. A mother can birth a maximum of eight pups in a litter. Any pups who don't manage to get a roleplayer to play them should be roleplayed stillborn or killed off early on.

12. Describe a character's age in moons, not "dog years." As a side note, a dog's gestation period lasts for two moons, during which the new pup(s) character should be labeled as "Unborn."

For reference:
Puppyhood = 0-6 moons old
Adolescence (apprentice age) = 6-12 moons old
Adulthood = 12-120 moons old
Seniority (elder age) = 120+ moons old

13. Pups under apprentice age cannot be rogues unless they are under the guardianship of an older dog.

14. DO NOT use or repost any artwork by any fellow server members anywhere else unless given explicit permission to do so.

15. You may customize your character format however you'd like, but please make sure it includes: A name, a gender, an age (in moons), a breed, an allegiance (and rank, if applicable), and a description and/or reference image.

In-Universe Rules (i.e. the ones you can break to start character drama!):

Warrior Code

1. Defend your Pack, even with your life. You may have friendships with dogs from other Packs, but your loyalty must remain to your own, as one day you may meet them in battle.
2. Do not hunt or trespass on another Pack's territory.
3. Elders, dams, sick or injured dogs and pups must be fed before apprentices and warriors. Unless they have permission, apprentices may not eat until they have hunted to feed the elders.
4. Prey is killed only to be eaten. Give thanks to StarPack for its life.
5. A pup must be at least six moons old to become an apprentice.
6. Newly appointed warriors will keep a silent vigil for one night after receiving their warrior name.
7. A dog cannot be made beta without having mentored at least one apprentice.
8. The beta will become the Pack's new alpha when the old one dies, retires, or is exiled.
9. After the death, retirement, promotion (to alpha status), or exile of the beta, the new beta must be chosen before moonhigh.
10. A Gathering of all five Packs is held at the full moon during a truce that lasts for the night. There shall be no fighting among Packs at this time.
11. Boundaries must be checked and marked daily. Challenge all trespassing dogs.
12. No warrior can neglect a pup in pain or danger, even if the pup is from a different Pack.
13. Unless it violates a preexisting tenet, the word of the Pack alpha is the Warrior Code.
14. An honorable warrior does not need to kill other dogs to win their battles, unless they are outside the Warrior Code or if it is necessary for self-defense.
15. A warrior rejects the soft life of a doggiepet.
16. Each Pack has the right to be proud and independent, but in times of trouble they must forget their boundaries and fight side by side to protect the five. Each Pack must help the others so that no Pack will fall.
17. A fellow warrior is your superior until you formally challenge and earn rank over them. Let your superiors take priority during feeding and always submit to them.

Medicine Dog Code

1. Always prioritize saving a dog's life, even if they are of a different Pack.
2. Never take a mate or whelp your own pups, as you must be able to heal all of your packmates equally.
3. Do not allow the rank of others to sway how you perform your duties. Submit only to your alpha.
4. Following the death, exile, or retirement of the alpha, escort the beta to the moonpool and help them contact StarPack so that they may become the new alpha.
5. A Meeting of the medicine dogs (and their apprentices) from all five of the Packs is held at the moonpool every half-moon. Seek StarPack's advice and share your knowledge openly with your fellow medicine dogs during this time.
6. Share with your Pack only what StarPack wants you to share. All else must remain amongst medicine dogs.
7. The word of StarPack is the Medicine Dog Code.

Omega Code

1. Remain in camp unless your alpha expressly invites you to attend a special event. You must stay out of harm's way, as you could endanger your packmates should you encounter a threat you cannot face.
2. Do not hunt or fight, as you may put yourself at risk.
3. Every packmate beyond your rank is your superior, including pups. Always submit to them and show your reverence by assuming a humbled posture in their presence.
4. In any type of meeting, do not speak unless spoken to, as you could interrupt more important points.
5. You may never take a mate. It is admirable to feel deep affection for your packmates, but you must not taint their bloodline with weak offspring.
6. Do not take an apprentice, as you may occupy the time better spent training with a superior.
7. All superiors must be fed before you may eat. Give thanks to the warrior who dispatched your meal.
8. Dominance posturing is reserved only for your superiors. Always humble yourself whilst observing it.
9. Unless it violates a preexisting tenet, the word of any superior is the Omega Code.

RiverPack and SkyPack aren't currently within the Forest Territory, so initiating contact with the other Packs is prohibited until further notice. Notably, it's been around a year since they were banished, so any RiverPack or SkyPack dog under 12 moons has never been in the original Forest Territory and doesn't know any of the dogs living there now.
