Alex smiled faintly and dug into the cracker packet.
Martha began to inspect the bruise. She lightly ran her finger along the area. It was clear there was a large amount of swelling. She mumbled and paced over to and X-Ray machine.

A few minutes later, the images popped up. Martha gaped as her eyes went wide.

Alessa had moved out of the way as Martha took the x-ray. Once it was over, she walked back to the women. She looked at the images and tilted her head. "W-what is it?" she asked.

Martha pointed to Alex's bone.
"You see this tiny crack right here? It means her bone has a fracture and she needs a brace for a few weeks."
Alex gulped, frightened by the sudden news.

Alessa looked at it and nodded. "That's a hairline fracture, right?" she asked. Mary had taught her some medical things, although Alessa knew of some medical terms and procedures. She then looked to Alex. "Don't worry, it''ll be okay." she said gently.

Martha chuckled.
"Well, aren't you a smart bean." She opened a few cabinets and gathered an ointment reduce swelling, pain killers, and a brace. She fixed Alex up and applied the brace to her leg. "Now just lay off any hard work and walk carefully."

Alex nodded silently, feeling slightly strange.

[Boomer]

Alessa watched Martha apply the brace to Alex's leg. She looked to Alex and smiled. "We should have a slumber party!" she declared. She had heard that term thrown around a few times from her adoptive siblings. She thought it'd be a nice way for the three of them to be closer friends.

"Oooh! That sounds lovely, Alessa." Martha agreed.
Alex seemed a bit reluctant but finally consented.

[Boomer]

"We can... well, we can do whatever happens at a slumber party." she said, her tail going ninety miles an hour. She also figured that since Kit got yelled at, he wouldn't ruin things, especially if Martha was there. The pup grinned to Scarlett. "Scarlett said that she's excited too." she informed them.

Martha beamed.
"Well since all four of us are in agreement, why don't you guys head to Alessa's room and I'll grab some milk and cookies?"

Alessa nodded and offered her paw to Alex. She was willing to help her walk to her room. "Oh... are we still having lunch?" she asked, tilting her head a little.
