Theo raised an eyebrow at Akihito’s question, though didn’t decide to answer it until they were on the move. It would distract the royal from the height, if he was afraid of them anyway. A somewhat amused sniff huffed from his nose. “Do you want me to bite you..?” He asked almost to himself based on how quiet it was, though louder as if to dismiss it explained, “Well, our existence is kind of secretive, and a bite to one with your kind of status would certainly gain some attention. I’m not entirely sure if it’s in your best interest to become one either.” The vampire continued to scan the alleyway opening as he slowly scaled the wall, gently using both hands to hold onto Akihito’s and bringing him to each next area he could stand. The way the vampire made his way up the wall backwards with only his feet appeared to have taken a lot of skill, practice, and perhaps even a few supernatural elements.

The other man’s stammering earned a another grin, and even Theo felt a little shocked at his own enjoyment of the situation. Ah well, it was cute how easily humans got embarrassed.

Thankfully the guards that had arrived on the scene had gone straight to the passed out detective, which Theo could still sense was breathing. Though it bought a little time, it certainly didn’t mean the two could stick around for them to leave. Theodore hissed out an old-language curse. “Okay, stay still until we get to the top of the building.” The dark-haired boy hiss-ordered. While their hands had just been clasped together before, the increase of speed they needed might risk Akihito falling. That wouldn’t be pleasant, so the vampire intertwined their fingers and he used a last burst of strength to flip the prince into the air above him. Theo grunted with the effort but scrambled to the edge of the roof to catch his new partner in his arms and leaned back just as the men on the ground peered over in their direction.

Theo panted from the effort but his eyes were alive from the excitement. He only paused a moment to hug the human to his chest (to get a better look over his shoulder of course) before letting go and inching towards the center of the roofing. The wall they had climbed led to a cube shaped building, which provided the perfect platform to hide from the royal guard. Just as Theodore was about to lean back and close his eyes for a second, something Akihito had said stood out and he sat up.

Sure enough a falcon had mysteriously landed on the opposite side of the rooftop and changed its form to be that of Ren, though technically Theo didn’t know his name still. “Uhh, I’m actually not aware.” The shape-shifting vampire struggled to stand for a second but did so to meet the blonde’s gaze. “Aww c’mon, she’s going after him now?” Almost instinctively he backed up to block the guy in question. “And I really mean no offence when I say this, but it doesn’t seem as if your friend will listen now if she didn’t before. Didn’t she just eat also?” As he asked, now having taken off his cloak and fastening it around Akihito’s neck. Theo’s eyes didn’t move from it for a few seconds like he was in a trance, but quickly snapped away. “Listen, the cloak is no protection, however it is twice-bound leather and will be harder to bite through. This.... guy and myself will try not to let anything happen to you, but if anything does run and hide. Don’t worry about us.” He then looked to Ren and nodded gratefully. “Thanks for letting us know. Do you have any ideas where she might be right now?” Theo stood up straight next to the heir, his head swivelling around every so often to watch and listen for Ruby.

The fox shook herself again, nodding at the human and mouthing the clothes on the ground. Her own clothes, because of the transformation...She still hadn’t figured out how to...keep them on, or dematerialize them when turning into a fox. With that, she trotted smartly after Akira. “No...I want to go back, see that Kenji is alright.” she yipped. She hid behind the tree, turning back and quickly clothing, then walking back around.

He hummed softly as he looked jpon the blonde vampire, tall and muscular looking vampire male. He gave a gentle sigh, shaking his head, but then squeaked... “Sh-She better not...” he hissed, trying to sound brave. As if he’d let her, anyway...The only one he wanted to bite him- he stopped his thoughts from their course there. Of course, this caused him to mutter to Theo “Maybe I do...You’re saying I’d turn? I don’t understand...That guy didn’t turn and you bit him...” he huffed. Now that they were up here, he’d thought he’d feel better...He’d even allowed himself basically be dragged up here, having not moved his own feet as Theo had told him to stop doing so. He couldn’t even know that Theo thought his nervous stammering was cute...I mean, he couldn’t read peoples minds, after all. He HAD noticed how Theo had been panting but his eyes had looked so alive. Shaking his head, he focused on Ren again...He’d blushed when Thei hugged him, though Theo couldn’t see it...H also had realized it wasn’t really a hug.

He now continued to look over ren and his appearance, seeing he was in fact capable of protecting someone, much less Akihito. He nearly smirked at the fact Theo actually kind of sounded protective of him. He glared towards rooftops and trees, though couldn’t see Ruby...He squeaked, again, when hands were at his neck, though just fastening a cloak about him to hide his throat for a moment. He’d also noticed how Theo stared at his throat...Shaking his head, he hummed a momment, then nodded at the vampire. He shrugged, then sighed as he said “O...okay...” He remained as close to Theo as he safely could without being a target that Ruby could easily latch onto...HE snorted at that mere thought alone.

She whined softly as she rushed after the Afghan hound, mouth panting open after a bit and revealing the fangs. She reached where Henrietta was, squealing when she saw a wandering lynx domestic cat mix. It wasn’t a happy squeal...She stood frozen in place.

Ren watched Theo and Akihito for a bit before turning his attention to the area around them. “This place s surrounded by tall trees, she could be hiding anywhere.” Ren looked at every animal with suspicion, any one of them could be Ruby. His eyes set in a robin that flew out of nowhere and landed near them. He glared at the bird a bit,unsure if it was Ruby or not. “Ruby.” He mumbled hoping that the robin would reply.

Ruby stared in her perch and watched Ren inspect the robin. She smiled as she shifted into a vulture and landed in a tree that was a bit closer to Akihito.

Theo scratches his chin while glancing away when Akihito asked about the nature of turning into a vampire. “Well, Uh, you won’t necessarily change just like that, since it’s a process, but...” The vampire thought about the detective and civilian that he and Ruby had fed off of. While he believed they only passed out, it was still nothing he would willingly put anyone through, much less someone he had recently formed a connection with. Then again, that was a dire case that rarely happened to Theo. Tentatively glancing back to Akihito, he finally shrugged. “If you really wanna see what it’s like then...” He paused, his expression cool but his eyes avoiding the human’s. “Not... right now.”

Theodore stood very still as to not alert the guards below when they took the two bloodied victims off to some doctor, assumably, and a breath he didn’t know he had been holding came out when he realised that they were not going to stay. The deaths and injuries were becoming more of a commonplace, and though worrying for his safety as a vampire, the man was relieved to overhear a witness tell him that it had been a feral dog.

Now paying attention once again to the situation at hand, Theo looked sharply around as a vulture landed nearby, glaring with narrow eyes and throwing an arm carefully over Akihito’s shoulder. He had no idea what she had disguised herself as but with this posture then at least the other’s neck would be blocked from any direct attack.

Theo nodded to Ren. “You know, for someone who is friends with someone as mature as yourself, I figured she’d be more noble.” He taunted loudly, his eyes briefly returning to scanning the woods. “-and I don’t think she’d be so simple to turn into a robin and fly right up to us.” The boy jabbed just in case she really was the robin. Still with his arm around Akihito, the dark-haired supernatural slowly guided him closer to the blonde man. “How do you think we should go about this? You would know her better than either of us.” Theo pointed out, looking to the vampire heir for orders before adding, “We’re out in the open and if we make a break for somewhere else it’d be too risky. That’s one of our options down.”

He hummed calmingly to himself which, surprisingly, was actually working as she hadn’t attacked nor was there a fight; yet...He nodded at Ren though the blonde was speaking to Theo, probably. He didn’t care, it was nice to listen too. He huffed a bit when Theo said it was a process, it took a bit of time to actually work... “Um...is that detective gonna turn, then?” he asked. He continued to quietly hum, wondering if Theo liked the humming or just didn’t care. He blushed a bit though perked up a bit when Theo spoke once more. “Oh, um...okay.” he said, with a bit of a shrug.

He hummed as he heard the guards leaving, as one of them was pretty loud. Stupid idiot...what if Ruby went after them instead? Well, that would be better for him and his two companions, him most importantly. He’d rather his blood stay in his body, thank you very much, unless he wanted to give it. Which he didn’t, not to her anyhow. He paid attention to the dark haired vampire standin very near to him. He felt a shudder run through his body as his gaze followed Theo’s to a vulture very near...He squeaked softly when an arm came over his shoulder, though was grateful to Theo.

His eyes widened when the dark haired vampire taunted the female; wherever she was...What the heck?! You tryin to actu actually be attacked? he thought, with a huff. A sigh found it’s escape from his body by the exit called his lips. He stared at the robin, but...it just continued to fly past them. “That...that wasn’t her...” the boy muttered, fairoy sure. He allowed himself to be maneuvered closer to Ren anyhow. He then continued to listen, this time to Theo whom was speaking. That was a good point, that they were out in the open...A secondary shudder ran through him.

Ren watched the robin leave. “Ruby is..tricky when she’s hunting. I’ve only seen her hunt a couple times.” Ren scanned the trees hoping to see the vulture but it had disappeared. “Keep an eye on every animal you see,Ruby will try to play tricks on your mind to disorient you.” Warned Ren to Akihito. Ren heard movement coming from a tree by Akihito an Theo. He didn’t have time to warn them,soon the vulture landed on Theo and tried to pull him away from Akihito. “Hmm usually she stalks longer,she must be starving.” Commented Ren as he waited for Theo to react in case he needed help.

Theo lifted his free arm to scratch the back of his head when Akihito asked about the detective. “He won’t turn, since the transformation includes drinking the vampire’s blood that bit you, which I didn’t give him. That’s what I meant by process.” Wide violet eyes flittered over to the heir when he started humming, at first putting him on edge because of the sudden sound but slowly relaxing when he pinpointed it as a gentle rhythm. However calming it was though, the vampire stayed tense.

As he stood listening to Ren, Theo felt the prince shudder and moved his hand to pull the cloak a bit tighter around him before stepping closer himself. If anything happened to Akihito then someone would have his head; though Theo definitely had some personal reasons too. Briefly setting his stare on the one he was practically hugging at this point, his gaze moved to Ren. “Tricky? Most of us shapeshifter-types go for the sneak attack, but since we’re ready for her that won’t exactly work.” He thought aloud, intentionally adding details so the human wouldn’t be too lost on the topic. “This won’t be any mere hunt either. I suppose all of us should expect the worst-“ Theo was nearly cut off when he sensed the shadow behind him and hissed crossly when the vulture from before lunged towards him. At least his taunts from before ensured that he was the target.

Theodore pulled Akihito to his chest protectively planted his chin on the top of the other’s head. Without a moment’s hesitation he flung out a claw-tipped hand. Instead of scratching the bird like expected, he clamped a fist around one of the bird’s scrawny legs and yanked down in an attempt to ground her. He scoffed when he heard Ren’s comment. “Didn’t you literally just drink that guy dry right before this?!” Theo snarled, still clinging to the prince and the vulture’s leg with his arms. “Hey blonde chap, could ya do me a solid and find something to cover his neck? Preferably metal, though anything would work. I’d rather not have you fight your friend.” He called over his shoulder before urgently asking, “Aki, do you have any weapons on you?”

Xander sat back with a heaved sigh after completely sure that the other man’s bandages were tight enough that they would not come off. The actions hadn’t taken too much out of him, however the archer had taken on his own fair share of a beating. It was nothing close to being pierced by arrows but he definitely had some new scrapes and bruises from the bushes he had crossed through and, more obviously, being hit by the butts of the soldiers’ weapons. Now that the excitement had mostly drained from the room the adrenaline that had run through his veins was wearing off.

The man stiffened when he was grabbed, but didn’t try to break away. Kenji was his only way out, and he probably wouldn’t mean to hurt him after what they had gone through together. Through an obviously hesitant gaze Xander listened to the general closely. His expression hardened a bit at the vampire’s talk of courage, taking the bottle back and lifting it. “Yeah, I’ve got something.” He muttered and moved quickly to take a gulp. It burned his throat but it was nothing he couldn’t handle- unlike whatever this guy’s plan was starting to sound like. Pocketing the drink, the hunter moved to a crouch and stayed silent the entire time Kenji was planning.

Throughout the briefing the marksman had a doubtful look on his face. There was still fear, but it had mostly resolved to a desperate hope that Xander knew in the back of his mind would not save them. They were both as good as dead with or without the plan, though he’d play along with his dying companion’s wishes. While there was surely a small chance that they could pull it off, Xander guessed that there would still be guards riddled about the place in the case that the assassins from before returned. He was about to point out this fact when Kenji began swaying ever so slightly and Xander planted a hand on his shoulder to steady him. Slight worry creased his brow at the apparent dizziness.

“Planning is all good and done, but how will it do us any good if you faint in the middle of it?” He barked quietly. The information that the other gave about the guards certainly stirred some suspicion, but through narrowed eyes he didn’t vocally question it. The thought that Kenji was an assassin himself plagued his thoughts for only a second before his attention turned to the arrows he had taken and the idea was quickly scrapped. That still left the question of how he knew there were two soldiers; the keys were probably obvious with the noise that they made, but not so much their guards. Just when Xander was about to ask, his eyes fluttered over his cellmate’s face. Sheesh, a few more breaths from him and he’d be out- he couldn’t accuse him of anything just yet if he wanted to keep his conscious clear for when he died. The hunter grimaced as his mind went over their plan again but nodded nonetheless.

“We better hope your guesses are right. Ah, and I have no plans of having charges I’m not guilty of.” The light brunet breathed, clapping a gentle hand on his shoulder before shifting his position closer to the center of the room. “Hey!” He shouted, tossing a glance to the hallway outside of the barred chambers. “Are you going to leave me in a room with a dead man?” He followed the script, though the thought rose that yes, they probably could and would. No one tended to care about prisoners even if they were freaked out by another’s carcass. Xander would have to come up with something else to help their situation. “You wouldn’t have anyone to question if I died from his tainted blood, would you?” The man called out, trying to suppress the resentment in his voice.

Xander shot another look to Kenji. He was extremely good at playing dead, enough so that he had to force himself not to go over and check his pulse himself.

Ruby screeched as Theo grabbed on of her legs. She flailed her wings and snapped at Theo. She flailed more as Ren shove her away from Theo and Akihito. “Control yourself!” Growled Ren at Ruby and he put his weight between Theo and Akihito. Ren took off the heavy fox fur scarf and handed it to Theo. “I don’t have any metal but my scarf might help. Ren went back to turn his attention to Ruby who was recovering from Theo grabbing her leg.

Ruby went to try and attack Akihito but Ren grabbed her by a wing and held her. “Ruby what has gotten into you lately, are you insane? You just tried to attack on of Ember’s heirs.” Ren put his hands on his hips and glared at Ruby like he was scolding a child, it kinda felt like it to him since Ruby was pretty childish. “First the paintings in the castle now this?” Ren sighed and ran his fingers through his hair. He looked absolutely emotionally drained and frustrated. Ruby smiled when Ren put his hands in his hims. “Ren you look like a sassy teenage girl when you do that.” Ren looked at bit hurt at her comment, Ruby stopped smiling. “Oh yeah my bad..sorry.”

"Well then....I guess we go back then. However, night is falling, so we must hurry. It is best not to get stuck on the outskirts at night. Bandits and what night. " with that she untied the horse she had ridden, placing her hand on its back after it had stood up. " Now..if you don't mind me asking, how exactly does one properly get onto the back of an equine? Kenji sort of helped me up before...with all these events happening, there's been little time for learning."

" You forget that'd i'd enjoy your silence too much. It would mean you wouldn't contradict anything I said because then you wouldn't be 'annoying' me with your silence, hm?" he smirked, nodding when she finally agreed to eat proper meals. " If I had need to, I could have vanished before his mind could even register my presence. I could easily do the same should anyone else approach. In addition, I can typically tell if someone is approaching. You have no need to worry about explaining anything." his frown returned, however, when she asked if it was head pain. " ....yeah.....head pain..." Well, Al was definitly a pain, but not neccesarily a head pain. He was just a general pain.
