Carter returned the greeting smile. The black cat beside Makota was eyeing him, and he felt the urge to pet the furry companion. He didn't have time to though, as his attention was drawn up to the cat's owner. He straightened his back and cleared his throat. "Alright. Did something happen while you were out?" He furrowed his brows slightly. Was someone attacked and now they needed new hunting areas? Was there another camp nearby, or a large horde heading this way? He shook his head gently. There was no point in getting worried about things until she spoke again.

Daniel stood up from petting his dog, a small smile on his face. He didn't really know Scout that well. They've only had a few conversations every now and then. She seemed nice enough, and she had a rather cute dog. Oh right, she had spoken to him. He smiled at Scout and scooped up his notebook. He had dropped it to pet his dog. "Uh yeah... Just the basic medicinal stuff." He brushed a little bit of dog hair off the notebook. "Gauze, Neosporin, Band-Aids, cold medicine, some pain relievers, maybe some cough drops? I know those aren't really necessary but they sure do help keep people comfortable. Oh, and some scissors because ours are getting a bit dull." He realized he listed stuff off even though she wasn't really planning on heading to town. At least she hadn't said she was yet. "Uh... Here ya go. For when you head to the neighborhood." He tore the paper from the small pad of paper and handed it to her.

Makota gently shrugged her shoulders, wondering how to even start. “Uh, it’s two things actually,” she said, crossing her arms over her chest as she thought of where to start. “I’ll start with the newcomer, a girl showed up here. And she wanted to join. She’s alone and seems to be of good thoughts. Of course we’d have to watch her but that makes sense.” she said with a shrug, running her hand through her hair, since her words didn’t come out as she had hoped. “But, on the more serious note, when I was out hunting today, Kai came running from north, I don’t know how long she was running. She was being chased by another survivor and her dog, I’m not sure if there’s more of them or what,” she explained, searching his face for a reaction. It was strange to encounter other people in the forest, especially while chasing someone else.

Watching as Daniel picks up his notebook and lists off a couple things, she nods. Alright, I can probably find those. Scissors was the only thing she might have a little trouble with... hopefully. "Sounds like a plan," Scout says, nodding. She gratefully accepts the paper with a smile. "It's a bit late in the day to head to town, 'cause it's such a long walk, ya know? But I might be able to walk down to one of the roads and find a few cars to get stuff from. I know most of them are gone, but there's definitely still a couple I could get stuff out of. Plus there's probably a little less risk."she shrugs, giving Daniel a smile. She tucks the note in her pocket, and reaches down to pet Nova's head, who happily wags her tail and pants at everyone.

What she said was true, it would probably be a little safer to look through old vehicles. Most medical supplies were sort of hard to find, but if Scout could find something like a general store that might be of use. Maybe, if luck was with her, she could find a first aid kit, but those were few and far between these days.

Carter listened to the girl carefully. She seemed a bit hesitant to speak, which made him a little nervous. It was two things? That could mean a lot of different things. A newcomer... He pondered for a moment where she would have come from. They've explored this land. Every square inch, to make sure it was safe for everyone. This newcomer must have traveled a ways to find them. He simply nodded his head and waited to speak. Makota mentioned the next bit of news being more serious and he braced himself. Kai was being chased by a person as well. They had run into not only one, but two outsiders. He nodded his head again, thinking for a moment. "Of course this newcomer is welcome to our group. We could always use another set of hands. You are right about keeping an eye on her, at least for a while until she proves herself useful." He pulled a hand down his face and let out a sigh. "As for the outsider who chased Kai... We'll have to be careful when going north. Travel in pairs or small groups if you can. I know we don't have a lot of people to spare, but I don't want anyone getting hurt. Thank you for letting me know." He placed his hand on his second in command's shoulder, giving it a small squeeze.

Daniel raised his hands up, waving them a bit to stop Scout. "Oh no no. It's okay. You don't have to go tonight. They can wait until tomorrow or even the day after. You don't have to risk your back to search for them today. We still have some stocked up, so it's all good." He smiled a bit and rubbed his neck, realizing he probably seemed really stupid waving his hands in her face like that. He gave her a sheepish smile as he glanced back up at her. "I could go with you, I would just have to Maycen and make sure he stays close to home in case something happens to someone in the group."

Makota let a faint smile touch her lips at the shoulder squeeze, sometimes it felt like he kept her sane. And maybe that’s because he was another authority figure like she was. She nodded “Yeah, no problem.” she replied, watching her cat head butt Carter’s leg with an amused glint in her eye. “I was thinking about starting on food, probably use two of the rabbits we have,” she told him as she turned and grabbed the meat out of the cooler they had. Sadly the fridge wasn’t functional because they, of course, had no power. But the cooler they were able to keep cold with cold water or ice found during winter.

Giving a small shrug and stepping back a bit as he waves at her, Scout looks up at Daniel. "It's no trouble. I probably would have headed out anyway. The next time I do, I'll be sure to look for everything," she says with a grin. Giving a small laugh, she looks at Daniel as he gives her a sheepish look.

"Nah, it's fine. I get it. It's good to have you and Maycen here. Reassuring that if one of us does get hurt, you guys can help. Besides, I wouldn't want you risking it to go out scavenging. You're doing your part here; I appreciate that," she says, attempting to give him a reassuring smile. "Anywho, if there's anything else I can do to help you feel free to ask. When I'm not out scavenging it's nice to know I'm helping in some other way."

Tabitha was still sleeping in her bed. The sunlight that managed to come through from the cracks of the boarded up window hit her eyes. She groaned a little as she sat up on the bed rubbing her eyes, of course, she had slept in. She had been out all day yesterday and nearly escaped a horde in the city. Did she tell anyone about that? No, should she have gone with someone? Duh. She did end up getting some pretty cool supplies; medications and canned food, that's practically Christmas. She went to get out of bed putting her feet down as she went to take a step she felt a sharp pain on her toe. "𝐌𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐨𝐟 -" She had forgotten that the stupid metal bar was on the ground. It was a strange weapon of choice honestly, but at the time when she found it, it was the only way she could protect herself. Sharpening the two ends was a great idea. She could have upgraded it by now to literally anything else. But she had gotten used to the weight of the bar and quite talented at fighting with her. With the bar, it was never close combat as it provided space between her and whatever she was up against. In her mind, it was just a better chance of not getting bit. The house was quite quiet, that meant either everyone was out or sleeping. She grabbed her bag and went downstairs to put the stuff she had gotten away. She headed into the kitchen and began to put the canned food away.

Dawson was sleeping in as usual. He was awoken by voices, some sort of an argument was going on. 𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘩𝘦𝘭𝘭? He thought, he really didn't have the energy to go and check it out so he decided to stay in his room. It was basically impossible to go to sleep at this point with whatever was going on downstairs. He picked up his baseball bat and began cleaning it off. Last time he went out he came across a... he still wasn't sure what to call them. Zombies, Walkers, Dead thing? Well, he came across one of those 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘴 and it only took one swing to the head to take care of the problem. He took a towel and started cleaning the dried blood off of the bat. The paint was all chipped off by now so it was just metal. He had become more hesitant at the thought of killing. It didn't use to be like that, he used to be able to do it with ease. It wasn't until he headed into town and looked at the living dead. One of them just lightly resembled his mother, now he wasn't 100% sure it was her but it sure looked like her. He didn't tell anyone about it, not even Brandon. But ever since that day it had been bothering him. He snapped out of his thought process and decided to go downstairs. Brandon turned around to see Dawson as soon as he heard his voice. "Oh hey," he mumbled tiredly. He was a little surprised to see him, since Dawson would normally be sleeping in a little longer than this.
