x what's in their bag?: setting a stage;;A brief explanation about the world he lives in: It's modern day Japan, and underground crime syndicates still run rampant throughout the county and the rest of the globe. The Shimada clan, a family as old as Japan itself, is one of the largest vigilante families that work to keep these syndicates in check through targeted strikes and assassinations, and disbanding them wherever it's necessary. With the unexpected passing of her parents, Kyane, the eldest of three, took over the "family business" and is struggling to keep their heads afloat as she learns the ins and outs. Hitokiri, as no one knows his real name, is her right hand and most trusted advisor. His family line melded with the clan during feudal times, when the Shimada family rescued his from persecution and extinction. Since those days his family pledged loyalty and service to the Shimada, and Hitokiri was one of the chosen, boasting deadly skill and unwavering bravery in battle, and subservience and obedience to the leader of the house.
the items: Whenever Hitokiri makes a kill, he always leaves one of these gold prayer slips on the body of his target(s) in hopes that the prayer will cleanse them and help them pass on peacefully. He wants them to overcome the atrocities they caused in their lifetimes instead of suffer for them in the afterlife. He usually carries a max of five, unless he knows there will be more targets, but it's extremely rare for him to have more than one or two targets per mission.

These prayer slips are quite a bit more on the sad side, as they're meant for allies who are killed in the line of duty. Hitokiri usually works alone, but he constantly meets with informants or some of Kyane's Hidden, agents who infiltrate and work in the syndicates to provide information and ops. On these slips, Hitokiri always smears a line of their blood, then when its safe he writes their name, length of service, and how they died on the slip, then these are hung on the ancient cherry blossom that watches over their home. He always carries around ten, just in case a mission goes very, very badly.

Hitokiri almost always has some kind of snack. He has a hyperactive metabolism, so even after a big meal he can get the munches for something good. Usually its small things like bread, or chips, or candies, but Hitokiri will pull just about anything along with him, in case he gets hungry. Or if he runs into someone who is homeless and hungry, he'll stop and share a few moments with them, give them food and learn who they are. If he deems them honorable and trustworthy, he hands them this card and instructs them to take it to a specific location at a specific time. If they do and they show up, one of the Hidden are there and they give the person 10,000 yen and an opportunity to come work for the Shimada family.

This is a small pocket-sized notebook that Hitokiri uses to keep track of targets, money and transactions, personal information, pretty much anything he could ever need to remember. He guards it extremely closely, as there are little "diary snippets" in which he writes down feelings and emotions so that he can better keep that emotionless mask that he shows the world.
One of the stranger things Hitokiri carries is a white quartz crystal that was blessed by his aunt, who was a legitimate priestess. It's said to be imbued with multiple protection, luck, and cleansing prayers, to aid Hitokiri on his journey and through whatever life gets thrown at him.
One of the last things Hitokiri carries is a miniature first aid kit that he replenishes before each mission, complete with anesthetics, a suture kit, bandages, anything he might need to provide basic life support, and he manages to neatly Tetris it all into quite a small fabric container so he can keep it nearby at all times. The down side? It's only enough for one person.

And finally, tiny fireworks! These are the strangest, but they also prove to be the extremely effective. He can use these to simulate gunshots in a different area of a building or other location, lure away guards, scare and drive away civilians; the possibilities are literally endless. His personal favorite are the little Pop Rocks that he can throw and distract somebody with, and a special set he makes can actually be thrown at a person and it simulates a gun shot with a tiny needle and reservoir to hold the chemical. Hitokiri also created a "sleep" and "paranoia" variant, and tends to carry quite a few of each kind.
