A forgotten goddess awaits her visitor, the gentle tug of old magic bringing her incomparable excitement. Yellow flames lick up her legs, trailing along her dress, and suddenly she's standing before a grove of trees.
A man- her visitor, her summoner- holds a lit candle up in front of her, his arm shaking with the cold of night. A heavy cloak rests over his shoulders, shrouding his face in candle-cast shadow. He clears his voice, a thin plume of mist rising with the breath. He pauses, however, glancing up at her with dull and tired eyes. The goddess takes this moment to enjoy her surroundings- the way snow melts around her feet, exposing the long-dead grass; the way tree branches rustle in the wind, creating a soft, persistent sound; the darkness of night contrasting with the lively flame- and she turns back to her sole companion with a grin.
"You called?" She says in a sing-song voice, as awake and energetic as the flame inside of her.
Her visitor, however, has his exhaustion painted on his shadowed face. Dark circles line the bottom of his half-lidded eyes, and every part of his body seems to beg for a rest. He shakes his head and clear his throat before responding, his voice gruff. "I didn't want to."
She laughs, light and airy, as she takes in her old companion's miserable state. "So you just couldn't keep away, hm?"
For whatever reason, this garners a stronger response. The man's eyes widen before a grumble, practically a growl, rumbles out from his throat. "I need a healing spell." He sighs. "I've an ill patient, seemingly sick with Ague or- gods forbid- consumption. I need to treat it as quickly as I can."
The goddess grins, knowing exactly where this is going. She offers her hand to her companion, a look of glee on her face.
"Why don't we make a deal?"

"I didn't deserve you," your mouth betrays,
"I never did." It whispers and says.
"But I can't let you haunt me," tears threaten to spill.
"I must leave you behind, go against your last will."
Your clenched fists release, dropping teeth with tears.
Salt waters mixes with the earth that buries your fears.
"I loved you!" You cry out in pain, clutching your chest.
You reach into your pocket, put the pieced-together antler to rest.
Lowering to your knees, you bite back a sob.
You put it all together, for that was your job.
"No, I didn't deserve you." You settle on with disdain.
"I deserved better. All you ever gave to me was pain."
"And these teeth!" You huff and you puff and you growl,
digging the rest from your pockets and throwing them down.
"These teeth! They've cursed me and bit me, they made me bleed!
Even back when I loved you and your horrible teeth."
You shudder with the effort of letting things go.
You take in a deep breath, let it out slow.
"No, I won't carry this burden that I've so long kept.
I loved you, you pretended, and then you left."
"I loved you. I cared. We used to be friends.
Yet you hated me and toyed with me until the horrible end.
And now that you're gone, I'll finally get to rest.
So take your teeth, your bones, and do your best,"
"Because I don't love you anymore.
You don't control me anymore.
You don't own me anymore.
And this time, I'm never coming back."

Harper goes to the park to relax after work, completely exhausted and hoping to enjoy the relative quiet that often shrouds the area. Unfortunately, some annoying college student has to ruin the peace by sitting right next to him on his bench. He talks and talks and talks, going on about the people around them, the chill in the air, and anything else that might cross his mind. Harper does his best to ignore the strange man. Eventually he leans against Harper, and a horrible chill runs through his spine.
Harper huffs, standing up and glaring down at the other. "What's your issue, dude!?"
He goes off on the now stunned man, the pent up frustrations of work seeming to finally get to him. When he finally calms himself down, he looks around to notice people staring. Only... They're all staring at him. No sympathetic glances are spared to the man he yelled at. After a moment of stunned silence, the taller man stands up, placing a chillingly cold hand on Harper's shoulder.
"They..." His voice is suddenly small, meek and scared. "They can't see me. I- you- but you can?"

Forgotten terminals seek the forgiveness their past lives never could offer.
A song bleats in the distance, melancholy and addictive.
Attention is my addiction, you are my supplier.
I'm ruining your career.
I'm ruining your career,
And I'm enjoying every second of it.

It's like a bleeding necessity;
A Victorian bruise, a long-forgotten scar,
Reopened and re-branded,
Brought to the forefront of my attention.
I cannot call this comfort, no;
But nonetheless I indulge in a fantasy
In which I'm hated by all and loved by none-
And in this world, my pain is valid.
